QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 12:31 PM) Viciedo certainly hasn't flopped. And I think the jury is still out on Beckham, though if his 2012 looks like his 2011, it might be time to call it. Yeah, but bought a Dayn shirt when he was a defensive liability and couldn't walk and Gordon wasn't in the majors and I was going to buy his jersey.

Don't forget...the 05 offense was pretty average...except they hit a lot of homeruns. The Sox win when they hit homers.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) If we go 9-deep the Braves, D-backs and Rays go about 29-deep. I can be unrealisticly optimistic.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 04:18 PM) Tebow shouldn't even be a QB. Or in the NFL. -
Q sits again? Man, Ozzie, at this point, why bother?
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 03:32 PM) LoMo just hit his 20th homer See, I could live with that.

Cooper and/or Ozzie status could affect MB coming back next year

QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 07:14 AM) Take six starters like MB and you have a playoff team year after year. Fixed. -
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 12:05 PM) 2013 rotation? Some have claimed we need to fix 2012 f*** those both. I'm worried about 2020. Mark might not last that long.

Haven't followed the farm system long enough to have a lot, but there are 3. Poreda (was sad to see him go for Peavy) Gordon (I almost bought a Beckham Knights road jersey they sold at the Cell a week before his call up) Viciedo (bought his shirt in 1 AB last year)

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 12:00 PM) Yeah, good luck with dumping Peavy Sarcasm, because Axelrod's dad is Peavy's agent.
-
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 11:50 AM) I don't know if this has been mentioned, but Dylan's dad is agent Barry Axelrod. So we might jettison Peavy to make room for Dylan? We theoretically are 9 deep at SP next year with Buehrle resigned. From the left: Buehrle-Danks-Sale-Santiago From the right: Peavy-Floyd-Stewart-Humber-Axelrod That's why one of Floyd and Danks will be gone next year. Possibly both, though I'd like to keep one of them and go with a six-man and have Axelrod and Santiago in the pen as long relief/spot starters.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 01:37 AM) Nice. Mark is your first of the "modern day." He made it it do to longevity. If it were individual seasons...Fernandez, Black Jack, Wynn, Loaiza, etc. all beat Mark. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 11:45 PM) I guess I'm very very slow tonight (I'll argue not this slow most days) He said "I still love Crede. All time great Sox player? No. But love the guy." I thought he meant he loved Crede, just disagreed on him being an all time great. I can accept it if haters say they do love the guy for what he did in 05. And a mod agreed with me we don't win it all w/out JOE CREDE. I did mean that, but I thought the crux of the debate was Crede being an all time great.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 01:20 AM) http://bleacherreport.com/articles/836841-...history/page/16 Here's one that agrees with Greg. The other "modern-day" Sox pitchers ranked were Contreras, Garland, Garcia, LaMarr Hoyt, Jenks, McDowell, Wilson Alvarez and Bobby Thigpen. Alex Fernandez probably just missed...his Sox career was just a little too short, although I think he was more "impactful" than the likes of Garland, for example. For what it's worth my all time Sox rotation is Ed Walsh, Red Faber, Ted Lyons, Billy Pierce, Mark Buehrle -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 12:00 AM) 1) I think the Sox still had a chance in late July, early August, and Dunn was still consistently in the lineup 2) As much as people hate Ozzie, they do hate KW as much. It's just that KW has no supporters, while Ozzie has you. If you have ever read a Jackson/Hudson thread, you would read that people think KW is the worst GM in the history of baseball. I support KW, but I still give him some blame.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 11:30 PM) On Sergio, it was OK he learned to close in the majors, since this team wasn't going to win anything this year anyway with Dunn, Rios, Becks, others hitting so anemically as they did. He's blown six saves I know. He has five losses. Did he suck in those losses? If so, that's 11 s***ty outings which is not too good if that's what we're going to get from him in the future. I got no problems with him, however, if he learned on the job this year. But between he and Matt, we blew a lot of saves and lost a lot of games in late relief. This team's only strength on paper appears to be the starting rotation and maybe defense. Thing is, with AJ's inability to throw anybody out, that's a big part of defense. I'm close to saying this team's only above average facet is starting pitching. His losses are the blown saves greg...

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 09:40 PM) In recent days, Guillen has been more vocally protective of his coaches and pointed out they still have some financial rewards at stake. The average full-share for each member of a second-place team is about $10,000 and the Sox are battling the Indians for that. "You know what's funny?" Guillen said. "Some coaches might need the $5,000, $3,000 (extra) to be in second place. … They can buy Christmas gifts for their kids. "Maybe the players don't need that, but some coaches do. Just think about them and make sure we win second place." Very inspirational stuff for the fans!!! Sometimes I think Ozzie is more out of touch with the everyday fan than ... well, that's for political discussion and another area of SoxTalk.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) The only "pause" on firing Ozzie is if PK, Sale, Viciedo, Danks, Floyd, Buehrle, and Santos all say they will retire from the game forever if Ozzie goes. I said pause, not don't go through with it in the end. -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) If no Ozzie means no Buehrle, see ya, Mark! This is the one thing that might make me pause on firing Ozzie. But Cora, Cox, and Walker all would need to go, with Kenny picking the replacements. But god, just keep Cooper and we avoid the problem! -
s***, just got back. Props to Axelrod. I gotta go back and see highlights though of his K's.
