  1. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 12:36 AM) If the Sox or the Cubs don't plan or spending 180 million or more a year on their major league roster, they can forget about Epstein. You job becomes a lot less challenging when you got money to spend. Imagine if the White Sox had some of Boston's players. Lackey.
  2. I love De Aza, but we need Dayan as well. De Aza manning Q's spot, Dayan in Dunn's, Lillibridge in Beckham or Morel's, and Flowers in AJ's just looks a hell of a lot better. LF - De Aza CF - Rios RF - Viciedo 3B - Lillibridge SS - Ramirez 2B - Beckham 1B - Konerko C - Flowers DH - Pierre That line up just feels better. Lilli, Flowers, and De Aza are all producing and I feel Dayan would too.
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 06:07 PM) How so? Forman has a scouting background with college coaching experience. Sounds nothing like Hahn to me. Non-players with calm demeanors.
  4. Can we stop calling up the "experienced" Kinneys and Bruneys and instead just bring up Reed, Infante, or Lindsay?
  5. Why not Reed, Infante, or Lindsay?
  6. I really want to see Reinsdorf do what he did with the Bulls, when he moved Pax up and Forman became GM. Especially since Pax and Kenny are so similar, as are Hahn and Forman.
  7. The fact that Beckham doesn't look like how he was at Georgia, in the minors, and in 2009 is the biggest indictment of Walker. We had a guy who most baseball experts were sure was the next great second baseman and while he is turning into a defensive wizard, he should be a top flight offensive 2B, but instead has a long, scared swing.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 12:31 PM) His approach surprised me. For example, look at how terrible most of our hitters looked against the Indians pen and their nasty low and away sliders. Flowers didnt even blink when they threw those to him, just took a walk like he's supposed to. This. If Flowers is back to what he was supposed to be two years ago, that's great news going forward.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:55 AM) CST_soxvan Daryl Van Schouwen AAA thumper Viciedo injured hand last night, tests today; specialist checking pierzynski wrist sonofab****
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:29 AM) Hollywood does things a little differently. He flies under the radar, makes sure he acquires guys who are "Chicago Tough." Ugh. ...which is the exact opposite of "Hollywood".
  11. Congrats Big Jim, sorry about Ozzie. Man, Thome is awesome.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 07:18 PM) Why? He has pretty much done nothing since going to Seattle. Thought he was doing better.
  13. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) Holy Crap! Jason Marquis pitched on a broken leg for 13 pitches and an at-bat.... Ouch Holy s***.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 08:36 AM) I really hope Mark gets the Jordan treatment from Jerry if it comes down to whether they can make a new contract fit or not. $33M is too much for Buehrle.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) It really makes you wonder if Florida would now consider Guillen for Morrison. Wasn't it Morrison who we were supposedly gonna "trade" for Ozzie? I regret not doing that, because Morrison and Dayan in the corners next year would be some sweet s***.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 14, 2011 -> 05:46 PM) Did you see the few posts prior to this where they said things some asshole might come in and say? Not what I had in mind Balta.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 14, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) I don't know if it could be Santiago or some return from trading Floyd/Danks or some veteran Doug Davis type signed in ST, but I will grant, you need to have a 6th starter option in AAA known to start the season with that kind of rotation. They'd probably be able to go plenty deep in games, but sometime around June/July we'd actually start wanting to have guys do some spot starts. I'd still wanna go with a six man. What its done for Buehrle, could do for Humber, Peavy, Sale, and Stewart, would be great.
