  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:00 PM) Q + Danks + Thornton = what, $14 million? Rios DFA = $42 million? Q and Danks will each be around $8M next year, Thornton is signed for what the next two years? $12M? Then throw in the $10M in savings today. $16M + $12M + $10M = $28M. So, you're still eating $14M, but today showed, No Rios = Good.
  2. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:56 PM) Seems like without the black hole at CF everyone is a little more energized out there If KW dumps Q/Danks/Thornton for cost controlled talent, Rios will be DFA'd.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:55 PM) What's the scoop on Stewart? Was he one of their top prospects? #3 coming into this year, #44 overall in baseball.
  4. Yeah, the Cards are getting E-Jax, a young, very good, lefty reliever, a good righty reliever, a serviceable CF, but also 3 PTBNL/ cash. No longer mad at KW.
  5. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:48 PM) St. Louis is also receiving 3 PTBNL or future cash considerations. Yeah...we couldn't have gotten Rasmus when that's the case.
  6. This thread is awesome. I tip my cap to you milkman.
  7. This video comes to mind when I think of Ozzie.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) Best pitcher since Pud Galvin. Weren't you on a break Steve?
  9. Oh god, here comes the Hawk loving Zach Stewart fest.
  10. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) please no, milledge is awful, he gives less effort than rios And has torn up AAA this season. Yeah, I know, AAA. But he hasn't been a problem attitude wise when with the Sox this year.
  11. Now that Rasmus is out of the cards, I go back to my original stance of next years OF being Milledge - De Aza - Viciedo
  12. Ok, Stewart seem's like a nice get. He's there #3 prospect in a good farm system, so no qualms there. The fact that it's taking E-Jax and relievers to get Colby...I don't like. AA is a masterful GM.
  13. My apologies Bucket of Suck. Time for me to investigate this very confusing trade.
  14. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 12:22 AM) My bad for not being clear. I'm all for a statue for Frank, and I'm not sayin I want one for Jermaine Dye, I just want the sox to step up and honor the guy now that he's officially retired. Wouldn't take much, and besides, didn't they already have a Frank Thomas love fest last year? How so? I'm all for honoring Dye, but not with a retired number (or statue that comes with said retired number). Maybe updating Champions Plaza, but that's all I can think of.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 05:24 AM) I swear to God if Jackson ends up in St. Louis and Rasmus doesn't end up in Chicago I'm going to be done for a bit. I will renounce my faith in Kenny, which is generally pretty strong.
  16. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 02:53 AM) I am sick of Congress whining, pouting, playing hardball, getting in the staring contests saying "I won't blink before you" Nothing is getting done. Our country has many problems for its citizens but the politicians only care about their party's or their own agenda. Why not do something that, you know, helps those who elected you? Example: DEMS: here is a bill GOP: that bill is 100% Left, so here here's something that is 100% Right, Pass this. DEMS: Why do I have to cave into your demands and ignore the people who follow my political beliefs in this country? GOP: Why do I have to cave in to your demands and ignore my people? Either cave or nothing gets done. DEMS: No, you Cave or nothing gets done. GOP: You won't compromise because you won't pass a bill that goes against everything you believe in. DEMS: No, you won't compromise because you won't vote for my bill, which goes against everything you believe in. GOP: I won't cave DEMS: Neither will I GOP: f*** you! DEMS: f*** you! Both parties at dinner in the evening: (/laughing) f*** the people, they don't know any better. They'll still vote for us. (/laughing) I am not attacking a particular party. I am attacking all politicians. Their job is to represent the people and keep them happy, so they can, you know, stay in office. But they stay in office while f***ing over the people they are supposed to represent. Something has to change. The problem, however, is that the solution to all of these problems might not lie in the center of the political spectrum. Some may be on the left, some on the right and some in the center. They need to find a way to work together so we can get out of this economic mess, and get the country back on the right track. I am afraid that this stalling, posturing, and hard headed behavior out of our politicians would delay the recovery even further or pull us deeper into this recession. Our government must act now(but not stupidly), and they need to get together and get something constructive done. BUT SOMEONE HAS TO BE RIGHT.
  17. It only makes sense if E-Jax is somehow wanted by the Rockies.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:55 PM) I doubt "my boy" would talk about how the White Sox players are proving so popular on the marketplace and then go trade his main chip for Jason Frasor and a prospect yet to be named, on a Tuesday night. If it's really salary they need to dump, they can do it relatively easily. Unless they were getting an absolute can't miss prospect in the deal, it sure does seem like a head-scratcher to do this deal now rather than make the parties bid the market up higher as the deadline grows nearer. Only way you make this deal now is if the spect is an absolute stud. And given that we haven't heard his name yet, I highly doubt that. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:55 PM) Neither team really gains anything. This trade makes 0 sense. These.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) That rumor was false QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) Yes because Jackson really garners a really good prospect and those Rasmus rumors werent full of poo at all. Even then, the Yankees could pay a nice price for E-Jax. I'm not gonna dismiss it, anything could happen, but I'm wary to believe it because in this market Jackson should command a nice prospect.
  20. Um... Not buying this, unless it's a really good prospect. Not when Jackson would be a piece for Rasmus.
  21. Not pinch hitting there was a fireable offense. I don't care if its Morel, Lilli, Vizquel, Flowers. Literally anyone was better.
