In before Brandon Allen. I feel bad for him, but this morbidly helps the Sox on and off the field.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 05:41 PM) As is Hudson. Making stupid mistakes with trades doesn't negate how solid the drafts were. Ah, it sounded like you still expected him to be with the Sox.

Lets Play the Partisan Game! Just like after the Arizona shooting and Osama's Death. For f***s sake. Who cares what party, race, religion, etc. the guy was. He killed 80 people. That's all that matters. And it's sad.

The reason you don't give up Jackson and Thornton AND a prospect for Rasmus. In this market, Quentin, Jackson, and Thornton could possibly be the top 3 pieces available to contending teams. This is a market the Sox should control. So too give away two of those assets AND a prospect on a buy low, but good, CF is to blow the Sox control on the market. Offer one of E-Jax or Thornton, plus a prospect not named Reed or Viciedo. In this market for a CF having a down year, in a managers doghouse, and who has lost his starting job, that should be enough when the Sox could flip a Q-Jax package, plus Thornton, for a kingly prize from a team like the Red Sox or Braves.
-
I really want Rasmus, but I want to hang on to Matt and Reed. Jackson, Escobar, and Infante? That'd be a kingly move by KW.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) Huh? That would be terrible and the final nail in Kenny's coffin. Plus, KW loves Viciedo. Viciedo is going no where. (Am I the only one that finds it hilarious that Dayan & Alexei are our only international signings and now mean so much to this team?)

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 12:34 PM) The Sox picked up 3 guys in 2008 who are already at the big league level. That's actually really good. With 6-7 years before guys hit FA, if you get 3 guys from every draft, nearly your entire roster will be people who are arb-eligibile or earlier. And there are still a handful of guys still on their way up who might make something of themselves. 2009 hasn't produced a major leaguer yet, but guys like Phegley, Thompson, Holmberg are working their way up, and we'll probably get at least a reliever or two out of some of those extra pitchers. The other thing that hurt us on the 2009 draft was being repeatedly snakebit by injuries. Holmberg is with the D-backs Balta.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:36 PM) Could the Cards be sold on adding Teahen to the deal? He might thrive under La Russa and in that offense. They really don't have an everyday third basemen. It would probably be Morel instead, but that would leave us without a 3B. Though Morel hasn't been hot stuff.
-
Trade E-Jax please. This is ridiculous.
-
I'd talk Thornton out of the deal if they want a prospect as well.

Anyone think the Sox frugal draft spending might have to do with bitterness over Joe Borchard?
-
Has it begun?

QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:09 PM) Isn't Rios on the team because Cora (thus including Ozzie by default) loves him and coached him the past? Eh, I'd go 50-50 on Rios and Peavy. Dunn for the most part is a KW guy. And not one person saw this coming. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:21 PM) I didn't see an answer to this, did you? No, I didn't.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 09:33 PM) I don't see that as an issue. Because we would then be in even more of a financial strain then right now?
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 09:17 PM) I get a kick out of it and have no doubt there is truth behind the dig. It should be more well known. Well, then either you're Joe Cowley, or Joe Cool. Either way, you're a Joe C. And no offense JoeCoolMan.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 09:02 PM) Why do you say that? Because you are the two people in the world that call him Kenny Hollywood and act like its a well known nickname.

Cooper hangs up on show after Dayan question

I'm wearing my Dayan Viciedo shirt. Praying it brings good luck to the O. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 12:55 AM) Wow, Adam seems pretty damn defeated. Even if you really feel this way, don't let it be known. Or don't hint at it, at least. But I will say, as many others have, Dunn does care. Guys like Alex Rios and B.J. Upton are the ones that make me want to hurt small creatures. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 01:24 AM) It's hard to blame KW for the Dunn signing. Not ONE baseball analyst, fan, or baseball player could have seen this kind of season from such a consistent power hitter. NO ONE. Struggling a little bit, sure but still getting 30+ bombs once he adjusted. When Kenny signed Adam to the pretty reasonable deal he expected the same old Adam Dunn and got this in return. It's on Dunn and Dunn only. If he's around next season.... There's no way he can do worse than 2011. If he did, it'd really be time to quit. These times 1000.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) Thank you. Most of the scouts are only there for a game or two. But I guess a thumbnail sketch carries more weight than that of someone who's there frequently. I believe it was Hector Santiago who said he didn't have to shake off Phegley once during the 8 shutout innings he threw on May 31st. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. No one can make evaluations after watching more than a day. Day and under. That's it.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 04:18 AM) 3. The White Sox's recent signing of Doug Davis was done with the idea of a possible Edwin Jackson trade in mind. He provides insurance behind Jake Peavy should the Sox take the best offer they get for Jackson, as with him gone they'd be down to five starters. Ozzie Guillen's six-man rotation has cut down the workload for the starting rotation. Mark Buehrle has worked a team high 121 innings entering his start Monday night in Kansas City, and he ranks 39th among major-leaguers in innings pitched. Also, don't forget about Chris Sale. He could be transitioned into the starting rotation if Jackson was traded and a need arose. The one thing we should know about the White Sox is they're going to do something at the trade deadline, even if only Kenny Williams has an idea what he's going to do. Phil Rogers is on crack cocaine. Zambrano, Marmol and especially Aramis Ramirez to the Tigers, at least some of that is logical. The Cubs wantingback Brandon Inge, not even Hendry is THAT dumb. It's almost as logical as the Yankees giving the Sox Curtis Granderson for Rios and Danks. Rogers should know better than to think you can just stick Chris Sale in the starting rotation like that, too. Transitioning over 4-6 weeks and then pitching in the heart of the pennant race as a starter for the first time in months, that doesn't seem like a good idea. If we couldn't/didn't trust Daniel Hudson in that role, why would we ever think Sale could do it more easily than Hudson? This is news?

I bet Ventura would be groomed to be our next manager.
-
I'm really beginning to wonder if Milledge, De Aza, Viciedo would actually be an upgrade over our OF.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 03:40 PM) I hope they start fielding calls for Ramirez. Sell high before being stuck with another bad contract. I never understand your Alexei hate. Who are you gonna replace him with? If you say Beckham to SS, Eduardo Escobar, then you're downgrading. You say Tulowitzki, Hanley Ramirez, Asdrubal Cabrera, or Jose Reyes, then you're kidding yourself. Anyone else, a downgrade.

POLL:Gordo, is he breaking out of that season long slump?
Quin replied to chisoxfan09's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hey Cowley, why do you suck as a journalist?
