  1. As the young one of the board, I feel like I need to throw in some counterpoints. For starters, I was raised to believe the Sox would never win. Since I was little until 2005 it was always "88 years." And of course, this was Sosa's heyday, so being a Sox fan meant you were something of a lone wolf, which is why Waldo was such a damn good mascot. Seriously, team colors and a wolf. Why is he not still the mascot over the giant green nightmare? Plus, sometimes it seems as if the old guard is the one complaining...often there are old posters (who I won't name) that complain about Buehrle as "no Billy pierce" and other such comparisons. I revere the names Pierce, Aparicio, and Fox because they will always be my dads favorite players. That being said, they didn't win a World Series. Came close, but no cigar (Pierce might get a pass since Lopez didn't play him in that series). And also, wasn't it a guy named oldsox that started the Adam Dunn nuclear meltdown thread?
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 09:39 PM) Young NBA fans, anybody born after 1984 or 1985 is suspect. These same guys talking about Korver earlier today were trying to say Shaq was more athletic than Hakeem. lol. I asked them nicely to youtube some clips from Olajuwon in his prime. Hey now... Anyway, just got back from my first Bulls game. Tony Allen got booed like crazy. f*** that guy. He should have gotten a flagrant towards the end. Korver is a cold blooded killer. Deng has a fire this season. Rose is magic.
  3. f*** it. Make him learn to throw lefty.
  4. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Mar 20, 2011 -> 01:10 PM) What? I expect nothing but Pargo becoming Ben Gordon and John Lucas sinking all his free throws.
  5. QUOTE (G&T @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 10:09 PM) Korver does nothing for me. Rarely does he hit a shot when really needed. He can hit an insurance shot, but down ten, needing a three, Korver is throwing up bricks. Korver has hit daggers to seal games away a handful of times this year. I mean big threes. He may not lead a comeback, but he'll stop the other team from doing it.
  6. Out There: Carlos Quentin is traded for Jose Contreras at the trade deadline.
  7. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) Right on. I'm really worried about Quentin. I can see the 2012 OF being Milledge-Rios-Viciedo at this rate.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) Not to call you out, but the Bulls were in New Jersey last night and play in Indiana tonight. Does Scalabrine not travel on road trips? Indiana is a stones throw from Chicago.
  9. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) fixed Sarcasm of that magnitude needs no fixing.
  10. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 07:48 PM) The St. Patrick greens had me thinking- have the Bulls worn their black jerseys this year? I think they have, but I'm not sure. They wore them for like 10 road games straight.
  11. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont...r?urn=nba-wp184 Sterling is a real asshole. Wasn't Dave Geffen gonna buy the team a few years back?
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 05:42 PM) Having it removed, huh? That was a News story from a couple years ago.
  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 10:37 PM) Kevin Goldstein: Hey @cst_Cowley, @Oneyguillen: You two need to get a room. ^^LOL (I don't know how to link individual tweets) Beautiful.
  14. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 09:43 AM) You probably just destroyed the future in doing so. Good job. Or made it more awesome.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 13, 2011 -> 01:27 PM) A week in the minors is hard to pull off since the Knights don't immediately start games, he'd be in minor league camp for a bit before the first game. I don't think Morel's mind is in the same boat as Anderson, he's actually overcome struggling and adapted to every level. I just don't think that right now, the difference between Morel not hitting and Teahen not fielding is that big. If Morel can hit a little, he'll be worth something, if Teahen could somehow field a little bit then he'd be worth something. If Teahen can field, I'm shipping him of to LAA with cash for whatever I can get
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 13, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) http://www.uniwatchblog.com/ I started reading Uni Watch Blog recently. Paul Lukas has a regular column on ESPN, but don't let that turn you off. His blog is a mountain of fun sports history and uniform tidbits info. Recently, I took a part in their colorization challenge. I was given an old, yellowed black and white photo. I was instructed on what things were supposed to look like colored, and I set about coloring it with my Photoshop. Here's the original: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5019/550056...bdb648290_o.jpg Here's the colored version: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5173/552097...0cdb87118_o.png I'd say that it turned out pretty well. What do you think? Paul Lukas loves to hate on the Sox' black socks though. He rated it as a Uni in desperate need of a makeover cause of that. Anyway I like him otherwise. Good job on the colorization, but it looks almost painted.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 13, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) His name is Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Teahen. Other players on the team are: Mark Buehrle Alexei Ramirez Chris Sale What about Adam Done?
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 11:58 PM) That's my biggest gripe so far with it. There is like, twenty things wrong with that. Holding out for Rush and GNR now.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 11:27 PM) Stupid is one thing, but a lot of this is flat out wrong or impossible. -Do commercials to bring in extra money for yourself? The 1% of the league that CAN do this, DOES do this. Brendon Ayanbadejo isn't going to sell many jerseys. -College degrees? I don't have the exact percentage, but quite a few of these athletes leave school early so they can get their payday right away. And having seen what athletes do just on a D-IAA school, where their odds at making it to the NFL or the UFL or AFL2 is microscopic, quite a few of them still don't do anything scholastically. I mean nothing insensitive by this next comment to anyone, but reading it seriously reminds me of what a white southern person would have said about blacks in about 1840. It's just absurd. The Bear Down at the end is what really seals in the "this rant is dumb as s***" taste.
  20. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 13, 2011 -> 02:25 AM) That being said, I've always appreciated how the Sox do business. They reward loyalty. Reinsdorf is an unloyal owner. Just ask D-Wade.
