  1. Abreu basically prevented a brawl from breaking out.
  2. The Sun-TImes doesn't have a paywall. It's free public media, owned by WBEZ's parent company. They'd like you to donate, sure. But it's free. And I just went to their site and didn't need to sign-in. It's also a much better user experience than the horrific mess of ads it was just a few years ago.
  3. GM Chris Getz: "Why would the previous farm director put me in this position?"
  4. While Tatis would ease a lot of pain and maybe prevent other blunders (drafting Madrigal for need), the Sox developing him is a long shot, keeping him healthy is a longshot, and if he can't keep his s%*# together in San Diego, there's no chance he'd keep it together here. Though again, my theory is that the Tatis trade has intertwined the two teams' destinies until they meet in the World Series.
  5. Looked at the box score. I have no idea who Yohan Ramirez is
  6. I mean, it makes sense. We knew Fischer was gonna Major League his team. We didn't know Kenny and Hahn would make moves separately, get fired, the next GM would be internal, a team expected to contend for the division would COMPLETELY bottom out, Cease would collapse, Tim would be horrid thanks to Hanser Alonso's defense (i.e., preventable), Liam would get cancer, Sox fans would get shot, Pedro would be Boylen/Trestman 2.0, Middleton would be so ready to leave he'd shave his beard, our best pitcher would have domestic abuse lingering over him, rumors of a move to Nashville AND we're not even guaranteed a top pick. Basically, Sox fans are Mrs. Lincoln being asked if she enjoyed the play.
  7. Cause guys, let's remember that this is the current 2024 rotation under contract: Cease-Kopech-Schlotens-Patino. Touki is almost a lock to re-sign. Then you've got the elite battle of Honeywell, Martin's reconstructed arm and Burke (if he exists) in the mix. Mena and Nastrini are gonna get a few starts in AAA. Who knows what the plan is for Crochet. Also, Cease could be traded, creating a true Murdered Row of a rotation.
  8. At this point the Sox need 1/10 guys to fill out the rotation. If the coaching staff is back, might as well bring back a guy who Katz has had success with + let Bannister get his hands on him.
  9. Chicago Public Media acquired them. The Trib got bought by vultures at Aiden Capital. If you want to support one or the other, support the Sun-Times. The Trib could get infinite money and Aiden would bleed them dry.
  10. At that point he probably knew he had a future in basketball or baseball. An injury in football puts all three at risk. And you start racking up brain injuries right away. My brother only played four years of HS ball and his brain is likely swiss cheese due to five concussions (that we know about). If the other sports are there, secure the bag that keeps your body intact.
  11. Calvin Johnson is one of the biggest freaks of all time and he called it quits early. The #2 WR in his class decided to pitch and earned $122M. Johnson earned $110M. Samardzija earned more in salary than Megatron. Yes, there's sponsorships. But those hits take a toll on your body and brain. Kyler Murray is a lucky one.
  12. If you have a future in other sports, it's stupid to play football.

    9/24 Game

    Nastrini for opening day starter
  14. Did not expect to see White Sox personnel (Bannister) to appear in a Mark Rober video, so that lifts my spirits somewhat.
  15. Flipped on to watch after finishing TV. Crochet's strikeout pitch on Turner was so smooth.
  16. Literally just walk across the Camelback Ranch complex and ask Friedman to go to lunch.
  17. The position players are gonna be fun to watch. Hopefully Eder gives some good performances the further he gets from having surgery. Would be nice to see more from Leasure. Will always enjoy watching cheap draft guys like Coffey try to stick around. Cousin, well, I want him to succeed purely because of The Bear.
  18. Yoelqui getting the Charlotte bump. Meanwhile...game 2 didn't happen?
  19. I'm so glad we have Paul Sullivan to point this out for us. God damn, it must be nice to write columns that are just "hey, look at this obvious s%*#!" and get paid for it. The best part is he fucks up the first line. She never says it in the entire song. Instead, she says "and we'll never be royals." Next from Paul Sullivan: Dylan Cease did not have a great year. Maybe it's time he threw better pitches.
  20. With the Padres imploding, the Marlins are about to be your new Yasiel Puig/Royals/Padres, aren't they? A true parting gift from Kenny.
  21. Yeah, the Reinsdorf Method is "play it safe." Sign the Keuchels, Grandals, Melkys, Benintendis, and LaRoches of the world as your big gets vs. actually signing big free agents like Machado or Harper in their prime. Sign older "proven" Cuban prospects vs. shelling out an extra $100,000 for teenagers like Juan Soto. Robert and Abreu are exceptions to this rule. Robert had mega hype. Abreu had quiet hype dating back to 2012. Trade prospects for rentals, cause they're just prospects and prospects are risky. The White Sox Traded Away Prospects Team would be legit scary. The problem is that it worked in 2005, so JR and Kenny got high on their own supply and figured they could build a contender that way. JR basically tells his GM they can only buy a 2012 Honda Civic in 2023.
  22. Do the Giants really get credit for Rodon? Or is that Katz? Or is it Katz, via the Giants?
  23. ...do you actually not know who Jomboy is, after being an online baseball fan all these years?
