  1. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Sep 13, 2010 -> 12:36 AM) And that's not even adding the fact that Kotsay has been -.7 WAR. Thome instead of Kotsay is roughly equal to 4 wins to us. And the division lead.
  2. *raises hand as person that has always wanted Paulie resigned*
  3. Number wise: Thome has been worth 3.3 WAR this year. Subtract 3 wins from Twins and they're 82-61. Add 3 to us and we're 82-61. Round up to 4 wins and they're 81-62 and we're 83-60.
  4. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Sep 11, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) I still can't believe it's getting to you. Makes me proud of NSS though for not caring anymore. (And BTW, show me those post besides me and another poster who had W-S as our best affiliate this season when most were picking the Knights, I'm still waiting) The Knights have produced 5 major leaguers this year. WS has produced one. How has WS been better than the Knights? I want explanation.
  5. Kotsay has played 45 games at DH, 32 at 1B. He's played a majority at DH. He plays one position well, that of our best player. He brings no flexibility. He is good defensively, not great by any stretch of the imagination. With the way this season has gone, on days Paulie needed a rest, Teahen or Dayan could have taken over at first while we had a useless hitter at DH.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 12, 2010 -> 01:24 AM) Considering Thome has been a successful hitter every single year since 1993 (except for when he was hurt in 2005) it was a safe bet Thome would be successful this year. And considering Crede clearly was having back problems it was very likely he wouldn't produce last year. We have other holes in our lineup but the biggest one is at DH where the only requirement for the position is being a good hitter. Instead we go with a below league average hitter, with no wheels, who can only play first base so he doesn't even give us flexibility or any production at the plate. Unbelievably dumb decision and plenty of people were saying that before the season began. And frankly it is hilarious that anyone would want to run out of town a guy who was arguably the Sox most productive hitter last year. My dad's response to all this was "What did they win with Jim Thome?" I struck back with: "What did they win with Nellie Fox? Luis Aparicio? (his two all time favorites and childhood heroes)" "An American League Pennant" "What about Fisk, Baines, or a full season of Frank?" "..."
  7. I'll sum up what everyone who posts in this threads thoughts will be; "f*** flexible DH's and Ozzie Ball"
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 11, 2010 -> 11:59 PM) He stunk. And imagine what's gonna happen to Freddy on Sunday. Harrell*
  9. Kenny's been dying for a Chris Sale type pitcher for a long time...he's not going anywhere.
  10. Going tonight probably. Gonna where my Dayan shirt. Maybe he'll hit a bomb if he gets a chance.
  11. QUOTE (T R U @ Sep 11, 2010 -> 03:04 AM) I would assume he would throw 110 mph Steve Dalkowski
  12. We hear Stone talk nonstop about how Chris Sale should be happy to be getting MLB sized meals and bulk up...but what happens when/if he does. Could it negatively affect his delivery? Or could he (somehow) throw harder? If he threw harder he'd essentially be knocking on Chapman/Strasburg territory...though it will probably go down as a starter. But that's where the bulking up comes in. If he gets bigger, would he be able to keep his fastball where its at right now as a starter?
  13. Mark Buehrle has 14 career balks. 4 this year, 5 in his first full season.
  14. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 11:40 PM) Even the guy who does the video for mlb.com thinks it's a joke. The title of the video is "Phantom balk incenses Ozzie" Phantom balk incenses Ozzie
  15. QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 10:48 PM) The last 5 days I have been getting home in about the 7th inning and I noticed that Hawk has not been on all this time. I'm sure that something was posted here as to what happened to him, but I wasn't sure where to look without going through multiple threads and hundreds of posts. Thanks! Death in the family
  16. Since I turn 18 in a month...I put that.
