QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 10:34 PM) The problem is that once you get out of our top few guys, we have s*** in the minor league system. It is at a time like this that the big injuries have killed us. Especially since the system seemed like it was finally turning around. Don't forget D2 and Flowers getting their asses kicked at AAA.

I wouldn't give up Hudson (fifth starter), Dayan, or D2 in a Dunn trade. Flowers, Morel, and another piece or two maybe.

http://www.news.com.au/technology/jessi-sl...0-1225894080075 They spammed her Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, YouTube, and sent pizzas to her house. Here's her original video that pissed everyone off (not safe for work language, at all): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4IMMgpElKQ Her father's unintentionally hilarious response: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcPGL-VW7w4 Does she deserve all that? No, but the fact that she and her dad made a response video doesn't help at all.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 02:05 AM) What would you be willing to give up for DeJesus and Soria? That was the postgame call in show rumor out here, that KC may deal them to the Sox. KC would demand Flowers. What else would you be willing to give up? I think they'll try to rob us blind of 4-5 prospects, maybe even Viciedo with Flowers and 2-3 more. This is Dayton Moore we're talking about so... Flowers-Morel-Torres-Holmberg-Santeliz The Royals need pitching, but I'd be hesitant to deal Huddy if we don't get a fifth starter. If it came down to it, I'd probably bite.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 01:03 AM) I enjoyed it. For all you people without MLB Network "MLBNetwork will replay #TheClub, as will CSN locally. Will try to get you more info tmrw about 4 hours ago via TweetDeck" From Insidethesox Yay.

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 12:13 AM) That is why he is the GOAT. That was Larry Bird's quote four days ago. This is what these guys the greatest. They would rather beat you then join you. Hell even Kobe has that in him which is why his name is in that discussion as well. (besides the rings) Look at his situation about three years back. He wasn't happy with LA and felt they couldn't put the pieces to win. But did Kobe say hey trade me to Cleveland with LBJ or Miami with Wade? No. He wanted to go to a team with nice pieces, but a place where it was still his team. Where he was still "the man." If Wilt were still around, he would **** LeBron's mom to make his point. Memphis still low-balling Xavier: http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_a.../#ixzz0u5mIdX75

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 12:27 AM) I will still never understand why Bobby (and the sox brass) felt he needed to be a "true pitcher." He is a closer. This dude has like 6 god damn pitches in his arsenal, that most of the time, aren't needed. Most closers in the game have 2, maybe 3 solid/good/great pitches to get guys out with. (unless your name is Mariano, but he is a freak) He would have been perfectly fine (probably one of the best in the game) if he was still throwing 98+ with that 12 to 6 curve. And if he really wanted to add a third pitch, a change-up would be been more than good enough. You don't need a cutter, slider, sinker, etc.. in your arsenal as a closer. Mariano Rivera throws 1 pitch 9.5 out of 10 times and gets hitters out even when they know it's comming. Billy Wagner had a 99+ mph fastball he threw 8 out of 10 times and a slider. Trevor Hoffman, in his prime, had a 96+ mph fastball and one of the best change-ups this game has ever seen, and when he got old, he had a 85-87 mph fastball and one of the best change-ups this game has ever seen. Ace (sorry, habit) has been the most reasonable poster post-loss, and everything he wrote here is truth.

QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 12:34 AM) Only one Man. David DeJesus. Greg has gotten me amped by saying Soria/DeJesus to Sox was discussed.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 11:17 PM) I kind of like closer by committee which requires a feel from the manager on who it should be that day. I thought Oz had the feel today when he let Freddy pitch the sixth despite giving up double digit hits through five. Thank god I had a commitment and could only watch the first seven innings. The ninth had to be sick. It amazes me how this division has been the same story every year. The Twins won't ever go away and just have a s*** season. We agree on this.

Damn you Dish Network.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 10:49 PM) Now that's a good thread post. I can't argue with that reasonable post. Do you honestly expect our closer, whomever it may be, to save every game? I'm at the point I hope they replace Fat Bobby just so you all will be happy. But I'll never bury him. He's done a good job in helping us get back in the race. Today was really unfortunate. He also was lights out before having to take time off for the family emergency. I'd think after today it'll be closer by committee for a while again. Ok, I'll admit this thread was a knee-jerk reaction. Bobby was very dominate for a while, but he's also had long stretches of horrible. Maybe I should have titled this "Putz for Closer if we have a 2 or 3 run lead"

QUOTE (OilCan @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 09:28 PM) So as of today, the White Sox have signed 32 of their 50 picks. Besides Grimes and Terry as the last remaining top 10 round picks yet to sign, who else should the Sox identify to add to their minor league teams? Ben Griset if he'll sign. They'd have to pay overslot. http://www.mercedsunstar.com/2010/06/07/14...-next-move.html

QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 08:47 PM) I'm in a growing corner of Texas that is about 90% Democrat thank you very much. Hey, it says Texas Republicans. And the fact that such a place in Texas exists baffles the mind.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 08:48 PM) yawn.. who didn't see this thread coming? I didn't. I expected "Thornton for Closer"

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 08:26 PM) Dwyane Wade said in a recent interview, "If we [the Miami Heat] lose a couple in a row this season ... You all are going to make it seem like the World Trade (Center) is coming down again." There is no proper context for a remark of such profound narcissism, but here is the full quote: "We're going to be wearing a bullseye. But that's what you play for. We enjoy the bullseye. Plus, there's going to be times when we lose 2-3 games in a row, and it seems like the world has crashed down. You all are going to make it seem like the World Trade is coming down again, but it's not going to be nothing but a couple basketball games." Fanhouse originally mis-reported Wade's quote, but if he wasn't wearing a bulls-eye before, he is now. I don't think I've ever gone from loving to hating a player faster. He's gonna be more hated then LeBron saying that.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) i think theyre both really good players and would love to have them too obviously but idk..the royals players we have gotten so far havent worked out at all. No one ever touches that bullpen. Soria-Putz-Thornton-Jenks-Santos-Pena-Threets is a murder's row (I assume Linebrink would be gone, though Sergio could be dealt) Also, a lineup of DeJesus-Resurgent Gordon-Rios-Paulie-Quentin-Teahen-Alexei-AJ-Pierre would be wonderful. I'd assume Viciedo & Kotsay would be the odd men out. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) After the game, Jenks said his sinker, cutter, and slider weren't working. How about your 4 seamer and curve...you know, the two pitches that got you into the majors? This.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 07:35 PM) No. We're not going to suspend someone for being wrong, even if they're not the nicest about it. Eh, I remember you going "I'm going to suspend you if LeBron goes to MIA" "Well, it's good because if he does the words I will say would get me banned." QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) A better way of asking that would be saying "which posts"
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 07:02 PM) Im not sure if this is the appropriate place, but I believe that Steve was suspended. Im not a moderator, but Ive been on this board for a long time. Steve has always been a great poster and I would hope that administrators would take that into account when determining how long some one should be suspended. I do not think that punishment should be excessive for the sake of setting an example, because I believe that actually undermines authority. There must be some sort of rationale between the length of the punishment and the action that took place. I think the board is better with Steve as a poster and I think that all of the other posters on this site are punished in his absence. I am hopeful that Steve is shown leniency. I personally vouch for him as a poster. Steve may come off as an ass sometimes, but he's a good poster. But isn't he just suspended cause LeBron went to MIA?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 06:42 PM) Rumor on Royals postgame the Sox are trying to get Soria/DeJesus, so you'll all be happy when fat Bobby is replaced and we give up all our young prospects with potential. It really would be smart of KC to try to swoop in and steal Flowers, et. all, cause they need a catcher. Fat Bobby had been pretty damn automatic until he went home for the serious family issue. I refuse to bury the whale over one bad outing. GO BOBBY! If this is true, I'm oozing joy.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) Great, cause we know how well Jenks does when he doesn't have the late inning adrenaline. I just realized this. Seriously, Kenny needs to go down to Ozzie and be like "No more Bobby with 3 run lead bull"
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) This is like Major League 2. We need Jenks to get back into his bad habits and discover his gonads. That 93 mph sinker bulls*** is weak. You're not Jon Garland!

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 04:26 PM) The really good throws? lol Yes, the ones that have saved runs.
