  1. QUOTE (scotty22hotty @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 12:12 AM) lmao I love how some of the mods and even the admins are always butthurt over pods success Instead we have Pierre who is arguably our worst hitter (and player w/ -0.6 WAR) for around 9M/2 The Sox could have had Pods for 2M-3M instead of acquiring a player that no one in the league wanted early in the winter... If only he waited. That would be AJ.
  2. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Phegley diagnosed with I-T-P syndrome Says he will miss another month. Terrible situation for him. Holy...hopefully he gets better soon. This is really a crappy situation for him.
  3. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) He just needs to repeat the article from Playboy magazine and he'll be fine. Now, who will get this reference? You beat me to referencing Rube. Dang it. But maybe thats what AJ can do to hit.
  4. Man, I can't stand the superstar treatment. LeBron could trip with no one in a 10 ft radius, and they'd get a foul called. Only if Derrick and Noah strongly lobby for Vinny's stay do I see them keeping him. And even then its a 1% chance of happening. Now, go sign Bosh.
  5. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 07:37 PM) They did. D'Antoni's first choice was Chicago. JR didn't want him. Doug Collins wanted to come along, JR didn't want to have to fire him again. Everyone else out there were okay options, but none really stood out. As far as VDN alienating players, I'd say the author is wrong. This team played hard for VDN, even when it was known he was a lameduck coach. When management quit on him, his players still kept playing. Derrick and Joakim seem to like him a lot. The only player VDN had problems with is Tyrus. You may be able to add Jannero in there, but he sucks and was mad about PT when he deserves none. Right now, the only player with a bone to pick is Acie Law. If the Bulls did have Ben Gordon this year, I have no doubt they would've been nothing lower than a 5th seed. They missed his dynamic and consistent scoring. Bulls basically win when Deng and Hinrich are hitting shots. If not, they are toast and they still give up a lot of points because the defense doesn't have to work hard, nor do they have to respect them. Management is who set VDN up to fail, and I'd say he's still done a damn good job considering he made the playoffs both years. I agree with this. Only Tyrus reallly had issues with him, though Gordon got mad at him, they made up. And if Rose had anyone who could score alongside Rose, they'd probably be 'upsetting' the Celtics. I wish that Vinny were kept, but he won't and we'll end up with another inexperienced coach who goes through growing pains.
  6. We have plenty of HR and if Pierre hits like he almost always has in his career, we'll have tons of SB. This lineup isn't that bad once Alexei gets warm weather, and if Quentin & Gordon hit like they were expected to. The big questions of Konerko, Rios, Jones, and Teahen have all been producing...the issue is that Pierre hasn't been close to his .300 average, Gordon isn't progressing as assumed, Quentin is trying to hard, and AJ just seems lost. Plus, Ozzie Ball only worked because that 05 lineup still had power, yet that always seems to get overlooked.
  7. I hate winning. I was looking forward to the 2011 Draft.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 09:16 PM) The 2008 draft is already the best draft we've had in at least 10 years. Beckham by himself makes this true (although he's stinkin' up the joint right now). And TT is a 2009 draft pick by the way. D'oh, meant to say 2009 Draft. However, 2008 with Gordon-Morel-Hudson-D2 is great, though 2009 could be just as good if guys live up to potential, especially Mitchell and Thompson. Best 2 drafts they've had in a long time though.
  9. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 07:10 PM) Trayce also had a SB. I'm getting real excited about this kid. I initially laughed at the Mike Stanton comparison article last year, but now it doesn't seem as far-fetched. The 2008 Draft looks like it could be one of the best the Sox have had in a long time. QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 08:05 PM) Always seems to be linked to this guy : http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/randajo01.shtml That's pretty good, honestly, considering the level of defense he plays. If Morel could hit .285 with 10-15 HR and 80 RBI, that would be wonderful considering his defense.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) I'd go with: Rios Teahen Jones Paulie Quentin Beckham Ramirez AJ Pierre Pierre is a terrible leadoff hitter so just bat him last. Beckham needs to prove he deserves to bat in the top of the lineup. Teahen is making the pitcher work so I like him 2nd. And f*** the L/R/L/R crap. It's pointless with a lousy hitting team. At least with this sort of lineup you clump your best hitters together and give the team a chance to have multiple run innings when they're up without the rally killers. You know, I like that lineup most. It takes pressure off of Quentin and Gordon, allowing them to sort themselves out.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 07:09 PM) We get to face him this weekend. This will be fun.
  12. Paulie is being awesome this year, contract year or not.
  13. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) I disagree. I would have done the same thing in that situation (If I was thinking quick enough). And quite frankly, you'd look stupid doing it.
  14. I love how he put off his future wife at first. Sergio seems like a good guy, and he's done nothing but delivered so far this year.
  15. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 10:55 AM) lineups: What's wrong with this picture? Pierre, LF Beckham, 2B Jones, DH Konerko, 1B Pierzynski, C Quentin, RF Rios, CF Teahen, 3B Ramirez, SS Pierre is playing the field over Jones? With Ozzie, you should have expected that.
  16. Guys, Sox are on pace to hit 343.5 (Alexei's robbed double?) this year. And we think this is a bad offense.
  17. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 10:47 PM) I can't imagine if the Thunder sign Bosh or even Haywood. They have 3 draft picks from 21-32 that they can keep on rookie contracts for several years as they re-sign Durant, Westbrook etc. Their future is ridiculous. Westbrook-Durant has a chance to be a Stockton-Malone type duo. My problem is while I like the Thunder, I also can't stand them for how they just left Seattle high and dry.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) That was an awful contract the day he signed it. If you knew someone would get fat and lazy, it was Carlos. My dad said he wanted to acquire Lee the other day for DH. I asked him if he was crazy.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) Really starting to feel good about this offense...need Q and G to start hitting, but I don't think we could be asking for a lot more out of the newer guys than what they've given us. I think we're going to be just fine eventually. When they both hit well, Quentin hits behind Beckham... G-Q combo.
  20. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 05:58 PM) I see no joy in this... The few games the Sox will win this year will be by the homerun. I would fire Guillen and Williams tonight. This is light years from a multi-dimensional offense. I dislike winning too my friend, I was looking forward to the 2011 Draft.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 05:55 PM) This will go almost entirely unnoticed and unmentioned, but Rios' swing was changed entirely by Greg Walker. Bullcrap. Everyone knows Greg Walker only throws puppies and tells players to hit them until their spirit breaks down.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 05:52 PM) Regardless of what Ozzie said in January, home runs are better than stolen bases. The only proof we need is Pierre leads the team in SB, and Paulie leads in HR. Which one has been more valuable? I really hope Gordon is just suffering from playing in cold weather though.
