    MLB 10: The Show

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) You can also do what I do, and go into the sound/audio options in The Show, and turn down the other 4 sliders a few notches while leaving "MUSIC" up all the way. That way you adjust for the game sounds, but the music is louder than the rest. I find this the best for me. I did note see the home run call in that thread. QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) At what point in the song Boom does Bobby come out in? BOOM! Here comes the BOOM! Ready or not. Edit: Just finished up my Ed Walsh. Gonna try and finish up the rotation and lineup tonight (Faber, Lyons, Frank, Baines, Minoso. Frank will be hardest since he's so recognizable. With the stats I gave him, Walsh is probably the best pitcher in game, or at least on par with Cy Young. But you know, lowest career ERA counts for something, even if it is deadball.
  2. Once I get a job (hopefully) around May/June, I should be able to donate around $25. But quick question...how do you send money via PayPal? Does it require a credit card?
  3. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) Translation is that Ozzie probably took the belt to him. Or a bus.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 02:13 AM) I considering doing it for all the players, but I am too lazy. I have these 4 songs in there for the Sox.... Beckham - Your love Home run - "YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOOAAARRRRDD....YES!!" Strikeout - "HE GONE!! There is a gooood pitch" Game winner - Sweet Home Chicago I also have some Fox Sports Baseball, ESPN baseball, and TBS Baseball jingles that play in between innings. Where could I find these Hawk quotes?
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 07:28 PM) I don't think it has a single thing to do with coddling, they'll keep him in the minors until June when it'll be impossible to earn a year of service (earning them an extra year of control) and he won't be Super 2 eligible down the road. It's a business decision through and through. Plus, with a (somewhat) brightening future, if the Nats are contending later down the road, lets say in the final year of team control, it'll be nice to have him around.

QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 05:46 PM) With his speed, I would have started Jackson in CF and either Lee or Quentin in LF. Fair enough, but I don't think I'm gonna have Lee on the team. But anyway, I got One Dog made, so until I get the rest of the starters (Frank, Harold, Minnie) my lineup looks like: 2B - Fox SS - Aparicio RF - Maggs C - Fisk 3B - Ventura DH - AJ (I know, but he fits more with an All-Time than TCQ) 1B - Konerko LF - Jackson CF - Johnson Also, took Foulke off for Tommy John, so I can have a lefty other than Wood.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 06:25 PM) Frankly, that's hard to believe. Not only would it have been opening another hole in the lineup that we'd have to have filled somewhere...but the only way it could truly have cost us a championship is if you could take that $60 million and manage to nail several bargains correctly with it. The odds are that we'd have wound up spending $20 million of it on Andruw Jones in 2007 or out-bidding the Cubs for Soriano or something like that. I think we'd have been Stuck with Soriano. 2006 was worth it. 2007 was about in between, because he still hit HR and had RBI's, but the average was down. 2008 wasn't close. 2009 was better than 2007. 2010 he shall hit .320, with 45 HR, and 130 RBI. (Also, since he can't slip n' slide, Buehrle will ride out to every game on a unicorn).
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) But not well. Well played Balta, well played.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 06:16 PM) Saying "You can argue" something doesn't mean you can argue it well. You can argue against that.
  10. I wish he had gotten 10yr/$250M just because there is absolutely no way he would have been worth it by the end and it would have handicapped them a bit, but also because he probably deserved something insane like that.

QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 04:16 PM) Rios? Since I don't have the full roster done, and didn't want Quentin playing CF, Rios was still on.
  12. Dreams don't come true >. But that is how it should be anyway.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) I'm fine with the playoffs how they are. Interleague is fair as well. Just move Milwaukee back to the AL, and each league will get one expansion team. 16 in each league will help scheduling enormously. But that would take logic and Bud Selig agreeing.
  14. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 02:53 PM) The Rios money could have been used on a lot of things, but Rios was one of Kenny's longtime targets and I highly doubt Kenny is regretting that because he could have gotten so-and-so. If Rios were still out there Kenny would still be trying to get him. The biggest money eater here is Linebrink. Rios is very, very capable of performing up to or beyond his level of pay whereas Linebrink is waaaay below it with no hopes of reaching it. Konerko is of course way underperforming his salary also. But the Paulie deal had to be done, even if in the end it turns out that in 4 of the 5 years he signed for he didn't meet the value of his deal. So I guess the point I'm making is that if we're looking at things in hindsight and questioning what could have gone where, I wouldn't be pointing at Rios. For about 1 1/5 terrible months, this guy gets just as much s*** as the Erstad/BA/Owens/Mackowiack/Terrero/Wise/Pods CF monster did, but if you took all those players and added up their talents and then multiplied them by Aaron Rowand you still wouldn't get a player as talented as Rios. Let's just please give this s*** a rest and let him prove himself already. Don't forget Swisher.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 01:41 PM) Only if you keep the sticker on and wear it with a completely flat brim, then it would make sense. http://www.lids.com/pid/20141105 I have a hat like that, but with the normal Sox logo Looking back, I wish I had gotten the Cursive C. Oh well, more reason to get a classic Cursive C hat.
  16. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 03:37 PM) Dayan has amazing raw power. Once he has it harnessed, watch out. I just pictured Dayan as a Power Ranger for some reason that turned evil.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) I love Cowley's latest tweet. His story of Ozzie being pissed because KW "fired" Oney aparently was all BS, but instead of admitting it, he justs says Ozzie speaks life goes on. Maybe he should take his own advise and "tap out." Didn't Cowley start this whole thing by writing the article about Oney being dangerous in the Sun-Times? QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) He's a stud actually. The best of Ozzie's kids by far. I've heard mid to late 1st round talent potentially. If he fell to the second round (or possibly compensation).. I would love for the sox to nab him. Thats what I thought I heard. If he's as good as hyped, draft him in the compensation or 2nd round.
  18. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 05:54 AM) I do recall a couple of catches right at the fence or him jumping up at the fence. He was not afraid of the Cell fence at all. Obviously Wise's catch was more impressive and remembered, but if I recall correctly, JD snagged a ball from the top of the fence in the early innings. Or maybe it was the No-Hitter...
  19. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 12:24 AM) Screw you! Those long galloping strides out there made up for tons of ground on balls he didn't track off the bat right away! He was the type of player you knew would always be willing to sacrifice his body at the fence if only he could beat the ball there. On top of all of that, the man was what...6 foot 4? Massive height advantage that most right fielders don't have. He was and always will be the greatest defensive right fielder in Sox history! If he could get within range of the ball, he could make some catches (that he wouldn't need to if he were faster) and he could play the wall well. That's about it though, his range sucked.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 12:47 AM) Fisk wore 72 with the White Sox. Baines is 3. Yea, but when I made Pierce, his number got changed to 21 because it's retired. Fortunately, Pierce, Fisk, and Collins came with the game and have unchangeable numbers, so perhaps their's will stay. Edit: Just looked, Fisk's number is stuck as 27, because people only think of him in Boston. Just played a game against the Dodgers with this team. SP - Pierce C - Fisk 1B - Konerko 2B - Fox SS - Aparicio 3B - Collins LF - Jackson CF - Rios RF - Ordonez Can't wait till I get this whole roster done.

    MLB 10: The Show

So, I decided to make an All-Time Sox Roster, and here's my team. Since some guys have numbers retired, I'm at a loss what to do for them. For example, Billy Pierce got stuck with #21. Guys in bold have been made, or we're shipped in the game. SP - Mark Buehrle #56 SP - Billy Pierce #91 SP - Ted Lyons #6 SP - Ed Walsh - #82 SP - Red Faber #8 C - Carlton Fisk - #27 1B - Paul Konerko #14 2B - Nellie Fox #22 SS - Luis Aparicio #11 3B - Robin Ventura #23 LF - Joe Jackson #5 CF - Minnie Minoso #99 RF - Harold Baines #33 (This will be weird seeing Harold coach himself) DH - Frank Thomas # 35 (I don't think it's retired in game yet, but if it is I'll do #36) RP - Hoyt Wilhem #31 RP - Wilbur Wood #28 RP - Tommy John #25 RP - Roberto Hernandez #39 RP - Bobby Thigpen #37 CL - Bobby Jenks #45 C - AJ Pierzynski #12 IN - Luke Appling #44 IN - Eddie Collins #18 OF - Lance Johnson #1 OF - Magglio Ordonez #30 So I have 13 of 25 left to make. Any ideas to changes for the roster? And before anyone asks, One Dog is on there because I did want a speed guy off the bench that could play the OF
  22. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 08:02 AM) What is going to happen when the KW drafts Ozney Guillen in the next couple of years? Of the three kids, doesn't it break down like this: Ozzie Jr. : Not an idiot, does translation and Spanish broadcasts. Oney : TWITTER! Ozney: Actually a good propsect(?)
  23. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 06:58 AM) OT: Mods is there something wrong with the "QUOTE" function? It does not seem to work not even launching a new tab. Works fine for me...maybe you meant to hit REPLY?
  24. From Sports Pickle Figured this would be worth a good laugh.
  25. QUOTE (Ultimate Warrior @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 03:56 AM) In my final meeting with the gods from the heavens above, as they spoke to me and hit me with the power of the Ultimate Warrior, they told me 'Exit stage left! Exit stage right! There is no place to run; all the fuses in the exit signs have been burned out! Elijah Dukes must join the white sox! It was a real damn good post.
