Ozzie needs to lead off Rios and move Pierre to the 9-hole until he learns to hit again.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) Don't forget about Taylor Jungmann, Gerrit Cole, Sonny Gray, Alex Meyer, Jack Armstrong and Matt Purke. The 2011 class is going to be fantastic. It is stacked. Like '08? Man, at least we pick good years to suck.

I still think the starters can turn it around, especially with Hudson in the wings. The bullpen is stellar. And this offense is a load of crap. If they could average 3 runs a game we'd have more wins. Ugh.

My faith in Kenny going out to get a bat remains.

Bulls coming back?!

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 12:38 AM) His point was who WOULDN'T want Grandy? Though it would be suicide for the Tigers to just give him to a team in their division for a couple of prospects, it was bad enough they gave him to the Yankees. Random note: my friend with to high school with Granderson, back when everybody was still using Myspace I saw him on her friends list (his rookie year) and I was like what the hell, you don't know s*** about baseball, why is Curtis Granderson on your friends list? Granderson is (I think) the one significant player to come from my school's conference, and I wanted him badly. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 02:06 AM) http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=7491655 Pods must want Franklin Gutierrez's nickname. Wait, what? Anything that says Podsednik shows defensive skills is crazy.

Bulls in 3. Because Brad Miller & Shaq get into it during Game 2 in Cleveland, and Thursday, Carlos Quentin is DHing, much to his displeasure. So, Reinsdorf lets him vent by killing all the Cavs players in a fit of violent Quentin rage. Quentin declines to comment afterward, because he must work on his swing. But in all seriousness, I'm an optimist, so I'll take Bulls in 7, with a huge series from Rose and Noah, and Hinrich being able to keep Williams down. Love this quote: "We're ready for the challenge," James said. "I think Noah's a really good player. He's a really good talent. But, you know, he asked for us a couple weeks ago and he got us. So we're ready. It's a different monster they're going to be playing against on Saturday." You mean when he was injured LeBron? Edit: The cap is going to probably increase, which is good news for the Bulls as it will leave them with $7M to spend along with a max FA, so a bench is much easier to build.

This season will all come down to the offense if the bullpen keeps it up. 3 guys who could all close out games. A rookie who looks like he is going to be a real special arm for the Sox, maybe the future closer. Pena is looking good and not like a batting practice pitcher this year. Who knows, Linebrink might be good all year due to his much smaller workload. Randy Williams is a decent LOOGY, but I'd almost rather carry Torres as the long guy in case one of the Fab Five can't go 6 innings.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 10:26 PM) I said this in the minor league page about the same thing... How many trades actually happen before June? Not a whole lot, but we have Kenny, and with him, I've learned to expect anything but the norm.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 09:48 PM) I can't believe people would be rooting against the Bulls. If we miss the playoffs and don't get a top pick, MIL swaps with us and we're a f***ed non-playoff team with the 18th pick. If we DO win the lottery, and get any of the top 3 picks, we lose our ability to sign a max free agent in the offseason, first and foremost. 2nd, you're forced to pick Wall if you have the top pick and then you have to make it work with him and Rose. And IMO, Wall is pretty overrated anyway. I think Turner is the best player in this draft. See: Oden, Durant. Third, we made the playoffs and now we have the opportunity for Rose, Noah, Gibson, and others get valuable playoff experience. We saw Rose take it to another level last year in the playoffs. He's not guided this team to the playoffs in both his first 2 seasons. Do I expect to beat Cleveland? Not at all. Do I expect us to put up a fight? Of course. There is no possible way the Bulls MISSING the playoffs helps the team. Including that was when Noah came out and became the monster he now is. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 08:28 PM) If 60% of his hits are HR, and he is hitting .368, I am completely cool with 130+ HR this year. No, that's not manufacturing runs.

This is a sign that the Sox will score 11 runs a game.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) Rose > Mo Williams I would actually take Noah/Miller over Shaq/Varajeo right now. Rose >>>>>>>> Mo Williams. Noah/Miller > Shaq/Varejao as you said. Hinrich > West in my opinion at least. I'll take Jamison and LeBron over Taj & Deng, but I think Jamison is slowing down a bit, since his scoring has dropped and his rebounding went down (not a lot). A healthy Bulls can at least make it interesting. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) So far it looks like this could be an interesting year because you never know what team is going to take the field. Sometimes its one that could contend for a title, and sometimes its one that would struggle in the International League. I think once Peavy gets going, and I don't see any reason he won't, this team can roll, although I'm still not buying Jones and think the Sox could use another bat, even though he's been outstanding lately. He already has hit as many homers for the White Sox as he did for the Dodgers. How much did they ultimately pay him? Around $17.5M more then us.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 12:59 AM) I was thinking they would be after a pitcher too. Would you trade Hudson for Parra + prospect? I just might. After doing more research on Parra, I agree that Pierre + Cash + Throw In doesn't do anything. I'd think long and hard about a Hudson deal.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 11:26 PM) I was the one pleading for Parra. I sent an email to both Kenny and Ozzie telling them to look into this guy, and yes he has an absolute cannon in the OF. I linked to a couple of throws he made, and they are just ropes. If you search on mlb.com, it was Parra throwing out Brandon Moss at home. Parra only has 6 AB this season, so he is obviously just a backup OF for the DBacks right now, and they must have value him that highly or else he would be getting groomed in AAA. I mean, Parra has never even played in AAA in his career, he jumped straight from AA to the Dbacks last year and played 120 games and hit .290 Not only is his defense awesome, but the dude walks and hits for average. He'd be perfect for leadoff. Would Pierre + $4M + A Throw in Prospect (Marrero? Shelby?) get it done?

Nationals make offer to Dye; Dye declines

Guys, Sheffield doesn't have a job either, and he's a first ballot Hall of Famer. Everyone is racist. Orlando, please shut the heck up. Plus, isn't Sheffield himself kind of racist? Found it, now I remember why I didn't like Sheffield. “What I said is that you’re going to see more black faces, but there ain’t no English going to be coming out. ... (It’s about) being able to tell (Latin players) what to do — being able to control them,” he told the magazine. “Where I’m from, you can’t control us.” He went on to elaborate, "They have more to lose than we do. You can send them back across the island. You can’t send us back. We’re already here.” During an July 2007 interview with HBO's Real Sports, Sheffield said that Yankees manager Joe Torre treated black players differently than white players during his time there. He also said that he thought that biracial Yankees player Derek Jeter wasn't "all the way black. -

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) im sure it goes both ways. sox fan says wrigley is a dump, cub fan says USCF sucks, sox fan says Zambrano is not an ace, cub fan says buehrle is not an ace. Its a never ending feud that is impossible to avoid no matter how hard you try, cub "fans" are everywhere. At work, in other cities, at weddings, at funerals.. the day the Cubs win the world series is the day i move out of chicago.. it would be non-stop smack talk every single season until the Sox win another one. "Mark Buehrle had a No Hitter" "Zambrano had a better No Hitter" "Buehrle had a ****ing Perfect Game" "Well Zambrano is the ****!" ^ Standard conversation with some friends who are Cubs fans. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) It's sadder with me personally. A few Cubs fans I know love USCF cause our field/ballpark is "nice." They actually go to the games too and just try and either heckle people, or wear Cubs gear like they are some kind of rebel... without a cause. They hate everything else about us though. One game, this guy decked out in Cubs gear wouldn't leave my mom alone on the concourse. Eventually, I just asked him "Dude, can you just leave her alone and enjoy a good game (The Dodgers 13-Inning Game)." He didn't stop, and I eventually had him warned by an Sox employee, who then threw him out when he didn't stop. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) i hate seeing that, people wearing opposing teams gear just to be overtly obnoxious at our games. Although i dont condone this type of behavior, one of the supposed twins fans at the game on friday got his head split open by a huge sox fan that apparently had enough of him screaming obnoxiously and cheering wildly after every single white sox out for the entire game (which went into extra innings). I think if you plan on going to a game dressed as a fan of the opposing team, thats fine, but you cross the line when you overtly taunt the home team and annoy every fan around you. There are people in this world that wont grin and bear it, and there are other people that dont believe in calling security and take matters into their own hands.. The game Saturday...two drunk Sox fans kept yelling "Kuuuuubeeeeeel" to Kubel in LF, and then a group of Twins/Cubs fans decided to do it to mock them and do the same thing. I was *this* close to telling them the shut up, but figured it would be best not to.

Good win by the Bulls. If they win at Charlotte, they're in. -
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 03:16 PM) I see scouts all the time, this guy was watching intently. He sat behind home plate for our pitchers, he moved over to my section to watch our hitters. Considering KW's history with Arizona, it's something to keep an eye on. Conor Jackson could be had... Jackson would replace Pierre, but isn't left handed, so that wouldn't fly for Ozzie. Someone suggested Gerardo Parra earlier this year, and if the Sox got him, he'd be perfect for leadoff, is left handed, and from the few clips I've seen, has a rocket in center field. Quentin would have to suck it up and DH while the OF could look like: Jones - Parra - Rios.
