  1. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 11:40 AM)
    Pre-ordered my copy of The Show 2010 this morning. Is anyone going to set up an online league? I didn't buy the 09 version so i wasn't able to do it, but i'd be interested this year.

    I think a SoxTalk MLB10 the Show League would be pretty sweet.

    The Bulls would get that #5 seed if they could just become and stay healthy. But that seems unlikely. Tonight has disaster written all over it with Deng and Noah hurt, plus an opponent in Atlanta who has dominated the Bulls recently as it is.

    Between Joakim and TCQ, I hate plantar fasciitis.

    Looks like they definitely made the place left handed hitter friendly, no surprise. It looks like it could just generally be a hitter friendly ballpark though (just particularly to RF), although it's impossible to say just by looking at the dimensions. You never know how the ball will carry, how the place plays day vs. night, how the wind currents tend to blow/how strong they are/how much of an effect they have, etc. Will be interesting to find out.

    I'd laugh so hard if the wind made the balls to RF die.

    Yeah it's the internal clock. People who upgraded their hard drive from what I've heard aren't having any problems so far. Basically, if you're is messed up, any games that require trophies will not play.

    Someone told me a work around until it does get fixed is to go to settings, disable internet and adjust the date and time. Once you do, you can play offline

    Nah, mine was infected and I swapped out my hard drive.

    I better be able to play the Show tomorrow after baseball practice...

    PSN in my sig now.

  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 07:53 PM)
    This made me laugh.

    I've yet to see any predictions that didn't include the twinkies as contending for the division. I hate these lame motivational moves.

    ...most places are picking them as the contender to win.

    I will go to a Twins game, to tell him he is stupid.

  6. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 01:10 AM)
    I think if PK didn't have such an albatross for his final year contract he would be more marketable. Then again if KW can convince JR to eat maybe a portion of the contract (4-5 mil) then he becomes a little bit more attractive. It might have to be a 3 team blockbuster if the Pads don't budge on the offers KW makes if we go after AGon. Just sayin there may be more than 2 players in this dance.

    I'm tired of hearing Paulie being badmouthed for his contract.

    Would you expect Adrian Gonzalez to take a 5 year 60M, because at the time of his contract, Paulie was

    Adrian Gonzalez or Justin Morneau, whichever you prefer.

    So you know what? Let's say we get Gonzalez, and sign him to an extension. Chances are his contract will become an albatross too by the end of it.

    Players that should be entering their primes with bad contracts (The Albatrios) are albatrosses. Players that were overpaid at the time (Linebrink) are albatrosses. Players that took below market value to stay with the team are not.

    Edit: Intriguing. Kenny initiated the Gonzalez talks.

    http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws

    "Kenny asked me at one point in time, 'What kind of guy is this guy?' I went into full recruiting mode," said a smiling Peavy, who clearly is as honest as he is talented. "I said, 'Listen, if you put this guy in the mix on this team, a left-handed bat in the middle of the lineup, a guy that could spell Paulie [Konerko] at first and is a Gold Glover ...

    Merkin takes a shot at SoxTalk.

    Early on in this past offseason, unfounded rumors of a three-way trade involving the Padres, White Sox and the Angels sent the groundswell of "Gonzalez to the South Side" into a fever pitch. And before that same fever breaks out again, remember a few things about this particular situation.
  7. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 09:44 PM)
    If you got an older fat PS3, don't turn on your PS3. Some major s*** is going on causing it to not play any games.

    This is detrimental to my happiness.

  8. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 09:32 PM)
    Pretty good list but I think that they should reconsider 1417. Rafael Dolis, P, CHC and, 1418. Maurice Gartrell, OF, CHW. IMO they should at least swap these two guys. Gartrell doesn't have the ceiling but has a lower floor, but good list overall.

    You are greatness.

  9. For what its worth, I wouldn't trade Danks. And if I did, it'd be D1, D2, and Morel. That's it.

    That being said, I'd be all over anything like Hudson, Flowers, Morel, Viciedo, Torres, and Sergio Santos.

    Why Santos? Because he could step in as their closer if he really is throwing consistent strikes, which the Pads would probably like because they could unload Heath Bell for more prospects.

    The other package I think the Padres would want would be Hudson, Flowers, Morel, Mitchell. But if I can get away with Santos/Torres/Viciedo instead, I do in a heartbeat as I want to keep on to D2 (for D1's contract, and because I think he'd be a good 4th outfielder or starter if TCQ becomes a DH) and Mitchell.

  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 03:04 PM)
    It's sad that a marketing ploy such as this worked on me but yeah, that's why I caved and pre-ordered it last night. I love playing in the old time stadiums and the odds of me getting the platinum trophy are next to nothing.

    I figured I was gonna pay the exact same price to buy it later, so I might as well just get the extra stadiums ahead of time.

    I really wish they had included LA Coliseum, Shea, Comiskey, Old Yankee, and Tiger Stadium.

  11. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 03:00 PM)
    Jake Peavy tries selling Adrian Gonzales to Kenny Williams.

    Guess what Cowley, maybe there was some truth to it after all.

    :lolhitting

    I don't like how everywhere is trying to spin this story into something. It's not like Kenny looked at Adrian Gonzalez and said "I'll look into it" and Peavy comes along and says "Dude is a good hitter!" to which Kenny would say "Oh my god it's true!"

    Fortunately, if we wanted to negotiate with Gonzalez during the trade deal to avoid free agency, having Peavy (and Linebrink) could help him be more willing to come here since he'd be more comfortable.

  12. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 01:56 PM)
    I can see the need to try and sign AJ as the catching will be thin if 1) We trade Flowers and 2) None of the minor league prospects develop as quickly (Cole Armstrong and Don Lucy) are the high AAA candidates with Josh Phegley and Miguel Gonzalez coming up through A/High A. I am concerned both Armstrong and Lucy will not be everyday catchers and the catcher FA market now looks thin if Mauer gets locked up for a long term contract. Both Phegley and Gonzalez are each 2-3 years away.

    You'd probably be resigning both Paulie and AJ, though to smaller deals. Paulie wuld be a DH that can still play the field, while AJ would still be your catcher while Phegley and Gonzalez develop.
