  1. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) It's sad that a marketing ploy such as this worked on me but yeah, that's why I caved and pre-ordered it last night. I love playing in the old time stadiums and the odds of me getting the platinum trophy are next to nothing. I figured I was gonna pay the exact same price to buy it later, so I might as well just get the extra stadiums ahead of time. I really wish they had included LA Coliseum, Shea, Comiskey, Old Yankee, and Tiger Stadium.
  2. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) Jake Peavy tries selling Adrian Gonzales to Kenny Williams. Guess what Cowley, maybe there was some truth to it after all. I don't like how everywhere is trying to spin this story into something. It's not like Kenny looked at Adrian Gonzalez and said "I'll look into it" and Peavy comes along and says "Dude is a good hitter!" to which Kenny would say "Oh my god it's true!" Fortunately, if we wanted to negotiate with Gonzalez during the trade deal to avoid free agency, having Peavy (and Linebrink) could help him be more willing to come here since he'd be more comfortable.
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 01:04 PM) He really did lose a lot of weight, wow. That was my thought. I'm actually excited we have him now.
  4. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 01:56 PM) I can see the need to try and sign AJ as the catching will be thin if 1) We trade Flowers and 2) None of the minor league prospects develop as quickly (Cole Armstrong and Don Lucy) are the high AAA candidates with Josh Phegley and Miguel Gonzalez coming up through A/High A. I am concerned both Armstrong and Lucy will not be everyday catchers and the catcher FA market now looks thin if Mauer gets locked up for a long term contract. Both Phegley and Gonzalez are each 2-3 years away. You'd probably be resigning both Paulie and AJ, though to smaller deals. Paulie wuld be a DH that can still play the field, while AJ would still be your catcher while Phegley and Gonzalez develop.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 07:45 AM) From Levine: Shortstop Alexei Ramirez was one player to report to camp underweight. He said he lost five pounds during the winter. How does Alexei lose weight? I was really hoping the Sox put him on a strength program. If he's not getting stronger physically, I would guess he is what he will be offensively. Well, when you're invisible, you can steal a lot of bases.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 12:36 PM) MLB 10 The Show Pre-ordered! Quick Note: The six stadiums are unlocked if you get the platinum trophy. But I probably wouldn't have the patience, so I'm happy I pre-ordered.

    Looking for Help

Guys, I need help. I'm not fat, but I'm not exactly in shape either, and with baseball starting, I'm tired of being unhealthy. Age: 17 Height: 5'11" Weight (fluctuates): 205-215 Diet: Breakfast: God, I rarely have time for this in the morning. Anyone know of anything quick and healthy to make in the morning that wouldn't require a big clean up? I generally get to school at 7, and wake up at 6:30, but I could wake up maybe 15 minutes earlier if need be. Lunch: I generally get a small salad with water and a pickle (baked chips if they don't have pickles that day), since thats what the school offers. Would I be better off making my own lunch and bringing it with me? Dinner: This one is generally out of my hands, as my parents are the ones that buy the groceries. And thats generally a red meat or buttered/baked chicken. Yeah, not good. I've recently switched to grilling some chicken instead of red meat, but the sides don't help (white rice cooked in beef consume, corn & broccoli covered in butter. Snacks: Oh lord, I have a huge snack tooth, and it doesn't help that my dad likes to make sweets non-stop. Anyone know of good, healthy snacks that are also satisfying? Drinks: I've recently switched to mostly water after drinking a lot of pop. Funny how Pepsi tastes like crap after not drinking it for a while. Workout: Ok, this part is sad. I used to go to the gym daily until their price spikes and laying off all the workers I knew coincided with my knee injuries last year. Right now my workout comes solely from fielding ground balls and swinging a bat twice a week in the morning at 7 AM and maybe 3-4 times after school for practice. I just fixed my bike after years of neglect, but how much would it help me burn? Because not only am I trying to burn fat, but build muscle at the same time. I can't run for extended time because the non-stop monotonous pounding on the ground pisses my knees off (probably will be another couple months before this goes away completely) to no end. Free time: Heres where the problem lies. My school schedule is murder this year, and that comes with a lot of homework. Once I get home around 3:20, I have a few hours until baseball open gym or jazz band at 7. But now baseball will be right after school, and generally lasts until 4:30-5. The other problem? I generally come home and sleep because it seems whenever I get my sleep schedule fixed, a huge night of homework comes along that throws it all off again.
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 03:48 AM) Ya, we've touched on this before, but there aren't a ton of guys I'd trade Beckham for. Unless Albert Pujols is the return, there would be nothing but anger from Sox fans. Tim Lincecum? "Why do we need another pitcher!" Chase Utley? "Gordon would become him anyway! Too old!" Prince Fielder? "How did the last fatso turn out?!" Ryan Howard? "He K's more in a season than all of Nellie Fox's career!" etc.
  9. MLBTradeRumors is trying to spin this into a story. Sorry guys, but Beckham isn't gonna be traded. He's the one player on this team, that if traded, would enrage the fan base, even if it were for A-Gon.
  10. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 09:07 AM) I am sorry I appreciate our CPD but as bad as this city is in debt (and I am sure this goes for many other cities also) why the hell do they get a fleet of pimp ass Tahoes to drive around in? We couldnt have found something more efficient than some gas guzzling awesome looking Tahoes. I mean these are luxury vehicles really and they have a s*** load of them looking brand new shiny clean every day. I propose they all take Tesla Roadsters. That'll cut down on fuel.
  11. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) Unless they're somehow pedaling the car, nascar is NOT a sport. So what you're saying is we need Flintstones style NASCAR?
  12. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) Thanks to Heads for the template. This is the organizational depth chart based on where I speculate the players to be assigned to start out 2010. Bristol's roster is empty considering that it is filled with newly drafted players. I've included every player that I know of in the organization. Charlotte and Birmingham have more than the roster limit as of right now. This is version 1.0, I'll update it as things change during Spring Training. The Big Board 1.0 Charlotte's looking like they could have a good year.
  13. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 06:54 PM) Insensitive ass. Grow up. Well, if I was on that island I'd have a whole lot more money with me right now, seeing as that I wouldn't have spent it hording food and gasoline. Although it was funny watching cable news networks trying to will the tsunami waves on shore. Anyone on this forum (who doesn't live on the island) that didn't have a part of them wanting to see a surge of water pummel Hawaii is lying. No one innocent would have died (you'd probably have a few surfers, beach stragglers to contend with). You were all sitting next to your tv at 3pm like me anticipating it. Nowwww here comes the comments suggesting how I'm wrong Conversation with Parents Me: So, why do you want to see Hawaii possibly get flooded and destroyed? Parents: It's the news!
  14. QUOTE (Sockin @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) Nothing really new here but Peavy wants A-Gon on the Sox and has already expressed this to Kenny. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/1298528...aking-own-pitch Peavy, you know Kenny won't give up Gordon.
  15. Bulls looked bad, but they can still do good things for the season. Didn't like Watson-Ford going for that bucket at the end.
  16. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 05:31 PM) http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...s-at-least.html Well, thats not good. Get better big guy, get better.
  17. QUOTE (SockMe @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) Joakim just needs to shut it down for the playoffs. But would they get in then? It's a sticky situation, lets just hope he heals up fast. Rose wants Vinny back and tried recruiting. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nba/news/story?id=4948932 Also, Bulls will probably get the fifth seed if Bosh stays out, and they'll probably end up with Boston or Atlanta, and I think they can beat either of them in a 7-game series, especially with a healthy Noah.
  18. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...T-sox27.article JD's confused about his lack of jobs. One place offered him everyday RF, Toronto. Look, JD. You have to become a DH or take less money, thats it.
  19. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 12:41 PM) Minorities Well played, well played. But since we're adding to the list, might as well had 2-man rotations.
  20. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 10:18 AM) Everybody who favors tradition should be against gloves too. What about helmets?
  21. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 07:20 PM) I would bet that MLB 11 The Show would have Ebbetts Field, Pre-1977 Yankee Stadium, Comiskey, Astrodome, Municipal Stadium, Jarry Park, County Stadium, Fulton-County Stadium, Memorial Stadium, Exhibition Stadium, Kingdome, Shea, Arlington Stadium, Tiger Stadium... maybe others. Why some of those weren't included with this years is beyond me. Anyway, went and pre-ordered the Show today. I have a $25 gift card, and if I trade in Devil May Cry 4, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and the original Rock Band, I essentially get the game for the $10 pre-order + tax. Operation Sports is working on their Full Minor roster. http://www.operationsports.com/forums/scea...ors-2010-a.html
  22. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bulls/post...lost-the-season Oh boy. Here's hoping Joakim is fine after some treatment.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 08:11 AM) It's not the greatest list ever (They have a lot of guys who are gone still listed as Sox, trades don't seem to have registered with them), but come on, you know you want to look at the top 2000 prospects for 2010 Charlie Haeger is listed for us Also, Mitchell starting at AA is aggressive, but lets hope it works out.
  24. Sorry San Deigo, but Gordon's staying put.
  25. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) We wouldn't have Derrick Rose if we had LaMarcus. He alone probably gives us a couple more wins from that 08 season. (unless Skiles and Boylan dick around with him as well, then in case I'm wrong) I'm quite satisfied personally. Yea, at the time, it was an incredibly stupid trade, but the Bulls have been very lucky to get Rose, which sets them up a for a good future, so far, its looking better. Edit: Secret to Tyrus's success now? The headband.
