  1. I voted Golf, WNBA, and meant to click 16"softball but forgot too. The rest are just...eh.
  2. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 11:42 PM) Eh, the last thing they need is another scorer with Randolph, Gay and Mayo all putting up 18+ (okay, 17.9 for Mayo), plus the team as a whole is scoring 102. Their defense is the issue. They really could have used a good passing PG that can defend (Rubio was the best fit, though he's probably not a plus defender) or a good defensive center that isn't a huge liability on the other end, which they were hoping was Thabeet. This was a terrible draft in which to pick second, especially given their needs. Well, they were probably taking a good long look at Taj They probably would have been safest off trading that pick in all seriousness.
  3. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 10:15 PM) Is he starting in A+, or do you guys think AA? I think AA is where he will start, and if not, he will be there before the summer. If he's in AA, then he's taking the Gordon Beckham/Dan Hudson Quick Route to the Majors.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 10:48 PM) You didn't like the #2 selection of a tall guy with very few offensive skills outside of jumping? I didn't even like him at UConn. I really didn't understand anything, especially why the Grizzlies picked into the hype of a really tall guy. Had they drafted Evans, well, that would have been a scary team.
  5. Hmm, Hasheem Thabeet sent to D-League. That was such a bad pick, I'll never understand his predraft hype.
  6. Ok ESPN, we get it, Ozzie has a twitter.
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 12:20 AM) Deng had a "quiet" 31 points. At least for this game, he looks like he "gets it." Shoot the open shot when DRose (or whomever) passes you the ball (assist for him, 2-3 points for you) and drive when you need to. And I'm sick of VDN now dicking around Noah. If he's only playing 6 minutes a game, (especially when he wants more playing time) then just sit him out and have him rest the foot. (not to mention VDN is costing him the most improved player award with Noah's stats drastically dropping now) I love when a reporter asked why Noah played 6 minutes Vinny said "uh" about 4 times trying to create an excuse. (not to mention putting the starters back in, taking some PT away from guys like JJ, a minute left up by 10) I can't agree more with that. Noah fell from #2 rebounder to #4.

  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) You're mistaken, it has to be the pitcher. Dang it, I was thinking of most amateur rules. My bad.
  10. I think we need to start considering pitchers hitting when it comes to HoF. Which is a horrible idea, but no one even takes a major statistical category into account when considering how great a pitcher is. Why do they get a free pass for sucking so much? If pitchers could hit, I'd be fine with no DH, but they can't, and some of the best hitters can't field...seems like a fair trade off. Also, I like having a playing style difference between the two leagues. Also, if I'm not mistaken...the DH can replace anyone in the lineup...not just the pitchers.
  11. Good win by the Bulls, at least their beating the crap now.
  12. So, just found out a spam account was using my e-mail. Darn it.
  13. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) Uh-oh. Look at how many balls got by Nix. QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) not a good showing for Nix defensively today... QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 05:13 PM) Suck it, UZR. He failed the eye test. :lolhitting :lolhitting Those made my day.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 12:50 AM) :lolhitting For a guy who has not played a single game for us, Teahen is quickly becomming one of my favorite sox players already. I'm loving this guy. Ozzie better invite him to the BBQ
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 11:36 PM) I still don't know how they did that.
  16. Good article on Joe Alexander. I really liked him in college, hope he turns it around. http://blogs.bulls.com/chicago_bulls_blog/...s-way-back.html
  17. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 10:20 PM) Looking at PitchFX data; Poreda threw 13 fastballs in that game (no runners reached base on him so I assume they were all from the windup), the average velocity on his fastball was 92.35 MPH with a max speed of 93.6. For reference: Jenks and Thornton were both clocked at about 95/96 (avg/max) in that same game. Eh, I was going by eye, because most people were gone at that point so I went and sat around the plate. Maybe the Dodgers were just tired by that point.
  18. I think we're the one place that still puts Viciedo over Morel at this point. Also, I'd like to see Shelby succeed, since I think he still can.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 06:48 PM) If you want the "group think" positivism, you might prefer other Sox message boards, IMO. Trust me, that's worse than anything you see here. At least this site isn't NEARLY as filtered or controlling of its posters, as long as they stay fairly civil and back up their arguments with substance and not just personal attacks. This is easily the most civil forum I've ever been part of, probably because most people act smart, but theres zero tolerance for flaming.
  20. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 06:55 PM) I recall how excited we were for the vaunted Poreda fastball. He averaged, what? 93, at the big league level? At the Dodgers 13 inning game, he was overpowering the Dodgers players. If they trade for Gonzalez, I'd try and include some throw ins to get Poreda back. I think he could be a good lefty out the pen.
  21. This ranks as one of the greatest moments in Sox history.
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 10:54 AM) The Show dude, the Show... MAG is very generic. Yea, I got The Show, MAG, and Heavy Rain all on my list. I think the Show is gonna win.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) Its on the same scale as a new stadium ground-up, I've seen the numbers in various articles. The Cubs are already planning piece-by-piece renovations of the stadium, over time. When they get to a point where even that won't do, they'll spend 1 season milling around The Cell and other stadiums in the area, and then get the new one in Wrigleyville the next spring. You know me Balta, I'm usually a shades-of-grey analyst, but on this one I am 100% sure the Cubs will not leave Wrigleyville, unless that neighborhood turns into a war zone. Ugh...the Cubs playing home games at the Cell sickens me. But hey, if it means they lose Wrigley (I think it'd be in the next 15 years) then I'm for it... But I agree, they won't ever leave Wrigleyville.
  24. QUOTE (WCSox @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) If Mark decides to play past 2011, it probably won't be for us. Doesn't Pujols become a free agent then? They won't have money for Buehrle in St. Louis.
  25. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 10:40 PM) They'll be better with Noah 100 percent (if that happens this season) but it's hard for a mediocre, .500 team to win 5 games in a row, including 3 on the road. Even if all 5 games are against crappy teams. Yet they won five on the road against good teams. These Bulls are confusing.
