  1. I don't get MLB Network. Anyway, I want this to be on the net, because I definitely want to see this.
  2. Ugh. My sister-in-law went to the same law school as Boras, apparently the Cubs paid for his education since he suffered a career ending injury in their farm system. Darn Cubs. If I'm Kenny, I go to the Padres and get a deal done for AGon now. Going into the season with this big a hole is idiocy.
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 01:16 AM) Not to mention soxtalk, first as usual, to find a news source before anyone else. Darn Trekkies are trying to be pretend reporters!
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 01:11 AM) And Josh Fields a while back? Joe Borchard too huh? lol Plans were to have Fields at QB. This reminds me of NCAA 10's TeamBuilder...I remember making the White Sox and the game would actually say "Jose Conteras". I was confused. Fatolo was OL.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 01:05 AM) Who the hell is that guy? If he's a scout, then why does he have NFL stuff all over the place? The Sox are going to the NFL. This is why we drafted Mitchell.
  6. I just realized... I'd rather bring back Walter Hriniak out of anyone...
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) IMO, its not happening. I mentioned when I heard they first talked about him early in the offseason, and I heard about some action this week. All I hear now is silence, and that cant be good. Rock, for once I'd like you to be wrong... QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) I wonder if we wouldn't be a better ballclub if we could trade Konerko and $6 million in cash for a B prospect....sign Dye for $3-4 million, stick him at 1B and use the other $2 million (in addition to what we're already offering) to sign Damon? Of course it will NEVER happen, but I'd feel more comfortable with Dye and Damon rather than Konerko/Jones/Kotsay. I know it's putting JD at a position he has little experience at, and Konerko is probably #1-2 to this generation of Sox fans in popularity...along with Buehrle and maybe Crede third. And he signed for less money after 2005, etc. I don't think JR would allow it, although KW might see the team as being improved, and there's certainly no guarantees about the production of Konerko, Damon or Dye...all are definitely on the downward plane of their career/s at this point. I'd trust Paulie at first a lot more than JD fielding wise, and pretty sure I feel better about his bat.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 09:26 PM) I'd love to see LeBron go to the Clippers, just because I think they'd have the potential to be awesome adding him to the pieces they have, plus it's a big market. He'd never do that though. As for today, nice day for the Bulls. Wish they would have traded Hinrich, but at least we now know there is room for a full boat guy this summer, plus the sign and trade option is out there. I'd like to see him go to the Clippers, or to the Nets if they could attract David Lee for PF and land John Wall in the draft.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 05:23 PM) Ideally I'd like the tigers/indians/detroit to all have the best teams possible and us to still beat the hell out of them. Royals aren't even realistic. Dude, they have Wilson Betemit and Josh Fields. That means a Gordon Beckham clone shall soon arise for them.
  10. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 06:35 PM) I'd say the Cavs are going to stick around a while when they re-sign Lebron. I don't think LeBron is gonna resign. I have no idea why I think that either.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 05:12 PM) such a weird year for the NBA isn't it? Just feels like waiting for the old guard to shift into what will be the new faces of the NBA for years. It feels like soon the top teams will be (depending on FAs) the Clippers, the Nets, the Bulls, the Heat, the Thunder, the Grizzlies. Of the "Old Guard" (I'd say, Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, Magic, Hawks, Cavs, Suns, Rockets, Nuggets, Mavs, Jazz) I see the Lakers, Nuggets, Magic, and Hawks being the ones to stick around for a while longer.
  12. Gar was pure class in the conference, saying only good things about TT and Salmons. Just finished reading the thread... Like the Salmons and Tyrus trades. I like Warrick and Alexander as bench players, and Murray and Law expire. Also, possibly getting a first rounder is sweet. The Bucks probably won't be better than the Bulls, so pick-swapping is probably not gonna happen. Miami has to be sweating, since the Bulls can now afford a max FA and the Heat didn't get Amar'e. I think Wade will stay in Miami, because I think they'll jump on Amar'e quick in the offseason, since it seems there is mutual interest. I don't think LeBron goes to the Knicks skeleton roster, so neither does Bosh, who goes to the Bulls. This is what I want the Bulls roster to look like next year. Draft Greivis Vasquez if they have a 18-30 draft pick. Resign Devin Brown for cheap. Resign Richard for league minimum. Resign Miller if you have cap space for it. Resign Alexander with whatever is left. PG - Rose/Vasquez SG - Hinrich/Brown SF - Deng/Johnson/Alexander PF - Bosh/Gibson/Richard C - Noah/Miller/Asik
  13. The first player I'd take back? Maggs. That's mainly because he was my hero after Frank stopped being Super-Frank. I was immensely sad when he was gone. I would then hit Maggs with a bat and take Carlos Lee. Why? Dude was my hero and I still cheered for him. Then at a Sox game in '08 (the one where Thames and Wise both hit Grand Slams, Griff got his 500th double) Maggs faked throwing a ball to a kid and then jogged off the field with a ball. I wanted to run down to the dugout and shave off his darn hair.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 10:07 PM) That'd be money. It would also improve the team for this year. Can we post sources? They would actually lose cap space in that deal, since James and Thomas combined ($11M) are less than Harrington ($10M)
  15. Latest rumor is TT and Jerome James to Knicks for Harrington.
  16. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) This latest report doesn't sound as promising http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=4922858 That's the second possible wrong story in two days... I dislike this disappointment.
  17. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) the sox website is even reporting that they could be the front runners now Didn't they do that for Matsui?
  18. I liked Salmons, but I like this trade for the Bulls. Jamison to the Cavs is confusing from the Clips perspective. They gained Drew Gooden...and that's it. But they gave up a lot to get him. I like Jamison, but I wouldn't mind him tanking and his contract handicapping the Cavs. Now, the TT saga continues.
  19. Can't say I like that deal. You don't clear much cap space since you're giving up Brad, and all you get is McGrady. If the Rockets don't take Salmons, it's kind of a no deal.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 07:26 PM) You're taking one hell of a chance though. You better guarantee me we're signing 2 of the elite free agents(obviously including Bosh) if we let go of Noah in that kind of deal. I'd rather not take my chances of giving up Noah to see Bosh sign with Miami. I'd do Deng, Tyrus, Salmons, and a 1st and future second for Bosh. That seems like it'd be an easier bullet to bite.
  21. QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) Sounds like Kahn said no to a Deng + Thomas for Jefferson trade. I can't say I really blame him, mostly because Deng wouldn't really solve the major problems we have with the roster right now. It should be interesting to see if Jefferson gets moved this offseason. Source? That would intrigue me, because we would need to sign a SF, so Gay would probably be on the radar. How would Rose-Hinrich-Gay-Jefferson-Noah play?
  22. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) I disagree. I think Mark is the guy we know what we will get the most. Are you basing this on a few bad starts in half a season? I think Peavy is the biggest wildcard. He gets hurt a lot and as we all know he is making a huge move in parks. Now I think he will be very good but it certainly isnt a known commodity to me. The other two are still too young to say they are more of a sure thing than Mark. Last year was the first year where Peavy really got hurt a lot.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 05:57 PM) Probably a lot of reasons. First, he'd always be in someone else's shadow. He'd also be changing numbers. The big one though is the contracts. While he could probably play PF, having Deng alongside him is really a poor setup. Which means we'd need to find a way to move Deng. Which is already difficult enough, and which would be more difficult if we suddenly HAD to move him. Why would he necessarily want to go through that when so many other teams can offer him the spot wide open already. He's changing numbers anyway. If it were about championships solely, he'd pick the Bulls, and would probably play PF. The reason is, if you put the Bulls and Cavs rosters side by side minus LeBron, the Bulls are waaay better.
  24. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) Why is Konerko called "Kong"? FORCED nicknames always sound silly... like somebody is trying too hard. Bacon is an example of a good nickname because it's funny how it came about (Ozzie's broken english)... Like T-Flow? Anyway, I'm dividing up a bunch of these right now, and I'll put some under players, and some under the Pending Approval list.
  25. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 12:17 PM) Can we stop calling Beckham "Bacon" yet? Slayer is a thousand times better. It's his old college nickname. Anyway, I'll update these in a little bit, since I have to go places soon.
