Derrick Rose will now be taking 100 shots per game. -
FWIW, I thin realignment is a terrible idea with the current 30 teams. I'd add a team to New Orleans/Memphis and Portland/Las Vegas to the AL and this is the result. AL East New York Yankees Boston Red Sox Toronto Blue Jays Baltimore Orioles AL Central Chicago White Sox Detroit Tigers Cleveland Indians Minnesota Twins AL West Oakland A's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Seattle Mariners Portland Rain/Las Vegas Aces (included names for the heck of it) AL South Texas Rangers Tampa Bay Rays Kansas City Royals Memphis Blues/New Orleans Gambits NL East New York Mets Philadelphia Phillies Pittsburgh Pirates Cincinnati Reds NL Central Chicago Cubs St. Louis Cardinals Milwaukee Brewers Colorado Rockies NL West San Francisco Giants San Diego Padres Los Angeles Dodgers Arizona Diamond Backs NL South Washington Nationals Atlanta Braves Florida Marlins Houston Astros

If the 08 Draft we're a do over Gordon would go #1, Smoak #3, Wallace would be in the Top 10, Skipworth and Hosmer wouldn't.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 12:33 AM) My favorite part of the article. That really is amazing when you think about it a little over 3 years later. I can't think of any GM in recent memory that's pulled off what Kenny did with these two. I remember really disliking Floyd because we gave up Freddy for him, but at least McCarthy was getting a shot...then Danks. I rooted for Danks to win the 5th spot so bad, but now, I like both of them. And we have all 3 pitchers to boot.

QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) Ouch. This made me remember a tidbit I chose to forget to post early. I bought Swisher's custom "Dirty 30" shirt from his personal website in 08'. Delinquent fans later ejected before the top of the 9th for flicking off and screaming obscenities at the Blue Jays' Alex Rios. OOPS ALL BERRIES! That's what taught me to get Buehrle before Quentin for my first jersey: getting something that will be relevant even after the player is done with the White Sox. Buehrle in black has the no-no and Perfect game going for it. Although at this point I'd rather have the Quentin jersey shirt than the Swish' custom from that season; but you live and you learn. You wore a Swisher shirt... ...heckled Rios... ...with Yankees fans... ...and were thrown out. Swisher was traded to the Yankees because you taunted a player wearing his shirt with their fans, and Rios is here as vengeance.

I'd have a three song rotation: Tell Her About It - Billy Joel (going for the "Your Love" effect ) Breaking the Silence - Queensryche Coma - Guns N' Roses
-
PK and Gordon were my favorites, but Lillibridge and Fields were awesome surprises. Q is even more awesome.

I only buy shirts (Beckham, Konerko, Buehrle). I only bought shirts that could have players forever identified with the club (ie: Buehrle, not Swisher). I only bought Gordon's when Kenny said he was untouchable. I'm considering buying jerseys though...I'd probably get a road Beckham, black Buehrle, and home Konerko if I did. What does everyone think of custom shirts (not jerseys)? I've been considering getting a custom SHAPIRO #0 shirt for the hell of it, but haven't because I have an odd feeling someone would be called up and pick #0 (My rules: Has to be a number thats not retired or currently in use).

I actually like Nathan when he's not pitching against the Sox, but I won't miss him. Suddenly, the AL Central became a wee bit more interesting.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 01:31 AM) I'm way too excited about JDanks2 and Mitchell right now. When one of them (or both) is inevitably traded, I'll have to talk myself off the bridge. Unless of course, they bring a big return. They're the last 2 I'd give for AGon, and I'd try any package I could to keep them both.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 12:13 AM) Someone teach me how to hit. I keep chasing on crap pitches. How do I learn pitch recognition. This is easily the hardest part of the game, and why I haven't played my 2B/RF for the Angels in a while instead of my pitcher. I K like I'm on a mission to beat Ryan Howard. If I could get some recognition, just about all my hits are doubles are HR's...all like, 12 of them

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 06:57 PM) let me guess everyones response: thats awesome, lets trade him for agone. ? lol This. Though, assuming he's held on to, it creates an interesting problem, though I just assume he'll be in AA this year, and AAA next before getting to the bigs. Maybe some September call ups.
-
I might consider looking into this since I need to work on cardio for two reasons: For tennis this year...and to get back on baseball next year. Anyone know where I could buy it at a store and not online?

On Mike & Mike this morning, Greeny asked what staff needed to be talked about that isn't, and he started going nuts over the Sox staff, bullpen included. Said that Floyd and Danks are great young talents, and with Buehrle and the forgotten about Jake Peavy heading the rotation it will keep them in it, while they'll be going after a LH bat at the deadline, probably Gonzalez. Old news, but now its from ESPN, which is the odd part.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 03:51 AM) Don't worry. Just like soxtalk, that will certainly change this season. Whether it's the "sophomore slump," his defense at 2B, etc.. there will be a negativity thread of some sort. (same with Peavy) I don't think any (Chicago) player will ever not be called out on this site unless your Thomas/Jordan, minus off-season/management issues. But he's just so dreamy... Plus, at worst, he becomes the ultimate wing man to White Sox players. -

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 01:37 AM) SoxAce has already made this point earlier last week, and he is right on with the criticism. This is exactly the point I was trying to make, there are way to many areas he needs to work on this offseason. A game like last night's really draw concerns for some people like myself. sure, 34 points and 8 assists really looks nice, but then you take a look at other stats, 0 rebounds, 0 steals, 0 blocks, 0 3 point shots made, 24 fga and only 4 fta. I am not sure who else would be able to pull something like that off except for Rose. This game goes to show you that there are way too many areas that he needs to work on. His court vision is marginal at best, and he had shown little to no improvement in most other areas of his game since last season, that's why I said i was "sick of his game". I dont blame people for having negative response towards my comments, because i am one of the few who would criticize my team's superstar if he performing up to his potential, and i am not afraid to admit that he is not YET as good as some people perceive him to be. 1) Saying you're "sick of his game" holds an air about it that you dislike his game as a whole, which quite frankly I don't think anyone would agree with. 2) SoxAce said he needs to develop rebounding, or he'll turn into Wade 2.0. That implies time must be taken to develop it, you can't expect a guy to become a monster rebounder over night. It took Noah something like one and a half years until he had Brad Miller here to tutor him/help him out last year to become a good rebounder, and now he's expanded on that in his third year. 3) This is SoxTalk. While we may overvalue people, there are few here afraid to admit players aren't as great as we'd like them to be and just about every player not named James Gordon Beckham is criticized (Ex: The Carlos Quentin). -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 03:31 AM) Max Jean-Gilles and Rob Sims both got 4th round tenders from their respected teams. Both are 26 years old. (Sims started more than Jean-Gilles, though Gilles is just a truck of a human being) Wouldn't be a bad option to take a flier on a proven OG than a rookie in the draft if the Bears went that route, though I personally mixed on that with a strong OL draft. Fans of the Seahawks and/or the Eagles can maybe shed some light on one (or both) of those players. There is a rumor that the Bears are looking into Atogwe, though they have to wait since Atogwe can't pass a physical from having shoulder surgery (not to mention see if they want to pay him so the Rams can't match). Well, it's good that they are looking into Atogwe, since safety is still a big hole. The OL is very tricky. Do you go with veterans or try your luck in the draft with 5 picks?

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 11:31 PM) I have a SP in RTTS. Amazingly, I was drafted by the White Sox. What are the odds!?!?! (1:30) Anyway, about a month into my career (doing very well, btw), the Sox traded Floyd, Pena, and Vizquel to the Blue Jays for J. Accardo, B. Lucy, and O. Oquendo. The only one I know of is Accardo, and that's not even close to an even trade. The reason, I'm assuming, is because the of Player Potential glitch. I didn't care to wait until the fix comes out tomorrow, since it's only RTTS, but that's an awfully s***ty trade! EDIT: The Sox just made up for that trade by trading Putz to the Red Sox for Lester. Wow. Video Game trades are always hilarious. My favorites: Josh Fields, Jerry Owens, Wilson Betemit (the deal breaker if not included) for Roy Halladay Computer Trades for NBA Game: Danny Granger for Jason Richardson for the Suns...followed by Steve Nash & Leandro Barbosa for Tim Duncan & Richard Jefferson

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 12:55 AM) I def. agree that Mitchell will probably have a better career in them majors, but I bet there is no doubt Danks gets a chance before Mitchell does. That is unless Mitchell GordonBeckham's (it's a verb) AA and AAA in a very short time frame. I think D2 will get to the bigs first, unless Mitchell absolutely destroys AA and AAA. Ultimately, I want to see them both up, when CQ moves to DH when Paulie retires/is no longer with team. -

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) so in your sense, every point guard should have 0 boards when in the game because it's not their responsibility to rebound. Not really, because there are plenty of good rebounding guards in the league, and rose is far from one. again, like i mentioned earlier, i am not singling him out just for his rebounding, there are too many areas in his game that he need to work on, and you can't argue with that. my only concern is i am not sure if he would ever improve significantly in those areas, because the areas he needs to work on also happens to be the toughest area to improve upon, and you can see his lack of progression in rebounding, court vision, 3 point shooting, drawing more fouls, trying to disrupt the ballhandler's comfort zone by either reaching in for the steal or playing the passing lane. rose is already a good player right now, and he will be a great player, but i am not sure if he could rival CP3 and D will as the best point guard in the league like some of us had hoped No, in my sense, demanding that your PG be an elite rebounder is folly because they don't get that many opportunities. Zoom summed it up quite nicely. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 04:27 PM) The guy just dropped about 10G's on random people in a bar. I think we can assume that is a fairly generous guy. Well, when you've got $40M to burn... Just kidding, that is fairly awesome of him.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) I had dinner with Lady Gaga at a Japanese steak house for my birthday dinner. Didn't know she was so old. Her son wouldn't eat his teriyaki chicken and fried rice without ketchup. This isn't in green, so I am confused, because thats very odd... Happy late birthday guys!

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 10:30 AM) I was going to get MLB 2K10 because it has all three levels of the minors, but read that there are roster edit limits. Basically, you can only edit so many players before it cuts you off. That's a deal breaker for me. I'll stick with MLB 2K8 and the two years I've put into a White Sox franchise. The only drawback to that is that Winston-Salem is still the Warthogs instead of the Dash. I don't like eit limits because I like to have accurate player likenesses and names for the minors. 2K8 just suits me best. Although I have a $50 gift card for Best Buy and don't know what to spend it on. FWIW, the Show has a single A "holding" level for prospects.
