  1. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 11:26 PM) I was the one pleading for Parra. I sent an email to both Kenny and Ozzie telling them to look into this guy, and yes he has an absolute cannon in the OF. I linked to a couple of throws he made, and they are just ropes. If you search on mlb.com, it was Parra throwing out Brandon Moss at home. Parra only has 6 AB this season, so he is obviously just a backup OF for the DBacks right now, and they must have value him that highly or else he would be getting groomed in AAA. I mean, Parra has never even played in AAA in his career, he jumped straight from AA to the Dbacks last year and played 120 games and hit .290 Not only is his defense awesome, but the dude walks and hits for average. He'd be perfect for leadoff. Would Pierre + $4M + A Throw in Prospect (Marrero? Shelby?) get it done?
  2. Guys, Sheffield doesn't have a job either, and he's a first ballot Hall of Famer. Everyone is racist. Orlando, please shut the heck up. Plus, isn't Sheffield himself kind of racist? Found it, now I remember why I didn't like Sheffield. “What I said is that you’re going to see more black faces, but there ain’t no English going to be coming out. ... (It’s about) being able to tell (Latin players) what to do — being able to control them,” he told the magazine. “Where I’m from, you can’t control us.” He went on to elaborate, "They have more to lose than we do. You can send them back across the island. You can’t send us back. We’re already here.” During an July 2007 interview with HBO's Real Sports, Sheffield said that Yankees manager Joe Torre treated black players differently than white players during his time there. He also said that he thought that biracial Yankees player Derek Jeter wasn't "all the way black.
  3. While is pitches do look off, I say at least give him three more starts before we all freak the hell out.
  4. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) im sure it goes both ways. sox fan says wrigley is a dump, cub fan says USCF sucks, sox fan says Zambrano is not an ace, cub fan says buehrle is not an ace. Its a never ending feud that is impossible to avoid no matter how hard you try, cub "fans" are everywhere. At work, in other cities, at weddings, at funerals.. the day the Cubs win the world series is the day i move out of chicago.. it would be non-stop smack talk every single season until the Sox win another one. "Mark Buehrle had a No Hitter" "Zambrano had a better No Hitter" "Buehrle had a ****ing Perfect Game" "Well Zambrano is the ****!" ^ Standard conversation with some friends who are Cubs fans. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) It's sadder with me personally. A few Cubs fans I know love USCF cause our field/ballpark is "nice." They actually go to the games too and just try and either heckle people, or wear Cubs gear like they are some kind of rebel... without a cause. They hate everything else about us though. One game, this guy decked out in Cubs gear wouldn't leave my mom alone on the concourse. Eventually, I just asked him "Dude, can you just leave her alone and enjoy a good game (The Dodgers 13-Inning Game)." He didn't stop, and I eventually had him warned by an Sox employee, who then threw him out when he didn't stop. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) i hate seeing that, people wearing opposing teams gear just to be overtly obnoxious at our games. Although i dont condone this type of behavior, one of the supposed twins fans at the game on friday got his head split open by a huge sox fan that apparently had enough of him screaming obnoxiously and cheering wildly after every single white sox out for the entire game (which went into extra innings). I think if you plan on going to a game dressed as a fan of the opposing team, thats fine, but you cross the line when you overtly taunt the home team and annoy every fan around you. There are people in this world that wont grin and bear it, and there are other people that dont believe in calling security and take matters into their own hands.. The game Saturday...two drunk Sox fans kept yelling "Kuuuuubeeeeeel" to Kubel in LF, and then a group of Twins/Cubs fans decided to do it to mock them and do the same thing. I was *this* close to telling them the shut up, but figured it would be best not to.
  5. Good win by the Bulls. If they win at Charlotte, they're in.
  6. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 03:16 PM) I see scouts all the time, this guy was watching intently. He sat behind home plate for our pitchers, he moved over to my section to watch our hitters. Considering KW's history with Arizona, it's something to keep an eye on. Conor Jackson could be had... Jackson would replace Pierre, but isn't left handed, so that wouldn't fly for Ozzie. Someone suggested Gerardo Parra earlier this year, and if the Sox got him, he'd be perfect for leadoff, is left handed, and from the few clips I've seen, has a rocket in center field. Quentin would have to suck it up and DH while the OF could look like: Jones - Parra - Rios.
  7. On TV, apparently after the loss to the Suns Pax shoved Vinny and challenged him to a fight over the number of minutes for Noah. Wonderful.
  8. Raptors won, I was hoping they'd lose but, they didn't. Bulls need to beat Boston tomorrow.
  9. Peavy's pitches aren't looking good at all, and that worries me.
  10. The Teahammer has struck. I didn't see the first innings, what was wrong with Jake?
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 03:37 PM) Well it's not like his contract is up after this season or anything.. Oh wait. Hell judging by the commercial, Buehrle has great form back there when he was catching Peavy. I vote for Buehrle. He has pop in his bat.
  12. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) I would love it. Get Bosh, draft a sniper as a shooting guard (Anderson, Jones or Warren at 18, or pray Henry falls that low) sign a couple guys to the vet minimum for the bench, and call it an off-season. My big hope is that Henry magically falls or the Bulls somehow trade up. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) I'd (ugh) still hold onto Hinrich in that case...mainly as a defensive backup, but I'd go for that. Johnson and Gibson and Hinrich off the bench, that starting lineup goes 8 deep, maybe think about bringing back Miller for a small veterans contract, and then look at maybe bringing back Acie Law or something like that, and now we're 10 deep and 2 deep at every position. Don't forget Asik who is supposed to come by in 2010 and Alexander could round out the roster.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 11:28 PM) I've said this probably 10 times in the last year or so, but how bad is that Feliz/Andrus for Tex trade looking right now? Could you imagine a core of Jurrjens/Hanson/Feliz/Heyward/Andrus/McCann? You don't trade premium prospects for a rental. I don't care who it is. Atlanta had basically no shot at signing him long-term. And the return they got for Tex was laughable. Had they locked up Teixeira, it would have been perfect, but they didn't so they ultimately blew it. This is why I only want the Sox to get AGon if they think they can lock him up. QUOTE (earthshiner @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 12:47 AM) I was just thinking how wrong that nickname is. Leave it with Mays. Stealing Prominent Nicknames = Bad.
  14. I went Sat, and was gonna go today, but friends couldn't, so I didn't. I intend on getting Gordon and Sergio's signatures next time.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 08:21 PM) Yup, so if the Bulls get these records, this would have to go down for the Bulls to get in. Bulls go 0-2, Toronto would have to go 0-2. Bulls go 1-1, Toronto has to go 2-0. Bulls go 2-0, Toronto's out. Odds are, the Raptors aren't going to win both games. If the Bulls go 0-2, would the Raptors have to go 1-1?
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) When it comes to Carlos, "Madness is like gravity... all you need is a little push".... into the DH spot. That time on the bench will soon prove to be mentally overwhelming for someone as profoundly disturbed as Carlos Quentin. I just hope that he would crack, and go to bat with a sword.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 08:16 PM) I'd rather have Lucy anyway. Neither is likely to hit worth a damn, but Lucy can throw out runners, handles pitchers well, and brings some athleticism. This. If Castro had anything resembling a bat, maybe I'd like him, but he doesn't, and the team likes Lucy.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) We should take Quentin out of the outfield completely. He's DH material. He's now slow and his arm doesn't seem to be as accurate or strong as it was a couple of years ago. But he'll go crazy!
  19. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 07:02 PM) to me i think the coach was trying to make it seem like hardy pulled up or something the way he was positioned He was looking directly at Teahen and posing as a base runner, so yes, he was being pretty low class.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 07:02 PM) The way the Bulls have been most of the year, its probably better they have playoff teams. If it was two matchups vs. the Nets, they would blow it. Plus, the Celtics and Bobcats are both beatable, while Toronto has no Bosh.
  21. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) The way I first read this, it was like we had two Tobys and the backup one got hurt First base Toby got hurt, Catcher Toby didn't.
  22. Good first half for the Bulls, but Toronto has been a House of Horrors for them, so hopefully they keep it up in the next half. Edit: Turgoklu complained way to long for that foul And Bargnani had a monster block on rose, but it worked out in the end.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) Bill Simmons says: Silly Nantz
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) Did I see that right Haeger had 12 K's? I really liked Haeger when he was here, nice to see him doing well.
  25. Well, heck, if they love Lucy so much, if Castro doesn't improve, keep Lucy around.
