  1. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) it could be both....maybe someone goes down early (unlucky) then number 2 happens (very lucky). Hope theyre not trying to say Peavys gonna be bad because that just be flat out dumb. Like i said in my OP i wouldnt mind to see Hudson down in AAA for a bit and hope hes lights out down there then trade danks or floyd for a bopper What I meant by very lucky, was that Freddy loses his spot, and all of the sudden Daniel Hudson decides to dominate everything.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) According to Sam Smith, Rose is 100% playing in the ASG. And I trust Sam Smith more than any other writer, so I'll go with it.
  3. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 05:09 PM) So I picked up a Fanball baseball magazine to get ready for my fantasy draft and they had about a dozen "early bold predictions" for 2010. Two of them were about the White Sox and they were both positive. Here they were: 1. Alex Rios will be a top 10 outfielder. 2. Daniel Hudson will have a better year than Jake Peavy. once again i got this from the espn white sox board so idk what else was said. what are youre guys thoughts on this? ill change em to.... 1. Alex Rios will be a top 10 outfielder in the AL. and 2 i dont agree with what so ever, I'm hoping this staff stays healthy and if it does barring a trade Hudson will not be given a chance this year. I believe freddy and mark will preform like 3s next year danks and floyd will preform like 2s and jake will preform like an ace......I hope hudson stays in the AAA and is dominate and we make a big trade envolving danks or floyd for another bat down the stretch. Even if that were to happen theres no way Hud has a better year If number 2 happens, the Sox are either very lucky or very unlucky.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) It doesn't matter. We have some mlb-ready or near-ready pieces that other teams want. They could care less about the overall depth of our system. I meant to say essentially this, but hit add reply before I did by accident. The facts are: A package that could have Flowers-Hudson-D2-Mitchell-Viciedo-Morel-Retherford (obviously not all of them) and some throw in's could match anyones.
  5. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) I don't understand why the Yankees would want him back in 2011 if they didn't want him this year. His numbers in 09 will be hard to top. Also with the worst farm system in baseball, no way sox get AGonz or Fielder. It will really bury our system if we do, and that's even if the Pads or Brewers are interested after so many flopped Sox prospects. Do we really have the worst farm system, or is that just according to Keith Law.
  6. Rose will not defend his Skills challenge title. Just got a text from the Bulls saying it.
  7. QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 10:36 AM) Granted, your DH might not be able to play defense, but does it kill you that much to have one guy who can hit and not play the field? In the Land of Oz, yes.
  8. Just finished the Heavy Rain demo. Control scheme was awkward, but was easy once I got used to it. I think I'll probably get the game.
  9. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 09:32 AM) Interesting http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/02/john...saturday-1.html That would indeed point to the Sox being Damon's team.
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 05:08 PM) With the added players that aren't receiving offers, it's almost time to expand again. If not expand teams, at least expand rosters from 25 to 27. A friend and I were talking about this the other day, you could add 2 teams to the AL, and have four team divisions in both leagues. Portland, Memphis, New Orleans, San Juan, Las Vegas could all have a team. The diluting the talent pool excuse for not expanding is stupid too, since the talent pool has exploded into the whole world.
  11. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) Bulls reviving Tyrus for Al Harrington per KC Johnson Anyway, just a thought, if the Bulls trade Deng for just expirings, would the superstar FA's think the Bulls have enough with themselves +Noah + Rose? Hmm, isn't Harrington a good 3pt shooter? QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 01:08 PM) Theoritically, they would sign and trade Noah once he gets expensive to make room for Omer Asik. The Bulls, apparently, are really high on him. I personally haven't seen him play, but the Bulls love him. Theoretically, I'd see them using the Bird Rule to keep Noah. Asik looks good on YouTube, kinda like a European Tyrus. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 01:20 PM) If the Bulls can get 2 max fa's to work, keep Deng/Noah/Rose....they will most certainly be willing to pay the luxury tax. No f***ing doubt about it. That team would contend and I believe win multiple titles. If you have Rose-Wade-Deng-Bosh-Noah, you could steamroll any team in the league.
  12. I gotta get tickets for this. I'd get to see him at the Cell one last time. Also, ESPN making love to him all of the sudden is quite odd.
  13. If Frank isn't a first ballot Hall of Famer, I will hunt down whatever voters keep him out.
  14. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 08:18 PM) If they trade just Salmons for an expiring, they'll get rid of $5,808,000. Say they trade Tyrus for an expiring and draft pick like they're rumored to want to do. That leaves them at $31,850,976. Let's say the cap is at $52 million. Now raises are factored into the previous $31,850,976, but let's look at draft holds. Let's say they get a 15th pick for Tyrus. Say the Bulls draft 17th and 47th which they're currently projected. That means 15th pick: $1,398,200 17th pick: $1,261,900 47th pick: $825,497(rough estimate based on league minimum) Right now, the max salary threshold for Wade who will have been in the league between 7-9 years is $16,224,600. If he's signed and traded his number would be roughly at $17,149,243. We will go with the lower number so we can dream big. $31,850,976 $16,224,600 $1,398,200 $1,261,900 $825,497 = 51,561,173 Now that roster only includes PG-Rose/Hinrich SG-Wade SF-Deng/J Johnson PF-Gibson C-Noah + 3 other players. If we pay the Minimum to those 3 other players to have at least 12 players, we would be in the luxury tax easily. Heck, I think it works even if we don't trade Ty and just flat out renounce him, but I could be wrong. Well, crap.
  15. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 12:12 AM) My creativity wasn't that great that day I suppose..... Eh, it's better than bailey40 getting you
  16. My first baseball memory was me being 2 years old, sitting near home plate at my first Sox game, and Frank launching one out of the park. For years, I swore it went out of the whole park. I think part of me always wished Frank would come back last year or this and suddenly become Big Hurt again. That would have been amazing. Three years to Cooperstown big guy, and the Sox better retire #35 and put a statue out there opening day. Edit: Frank was only an All-Star 5 times? That's a shame.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 05:33 PM) Pierre, biggest acquisition? What is Olney smoking? Hudson #2, Scherzer (sp?) is #3
  18. Just mentioned this on Sportscenter. Pierre is the top AL Central Acquisition for Olney. JD is one of the 3 biggest departures. God Kenny, just sign Damon so Becks, TCQ, and Paulie can have an RBI feast.
  19. I love JD, and I hope he gets a job somewhere, but he's shooting himself in the foot with a machine gun.
  20. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 01:25 PM) Bulls would not be able to sign a max FA if they kept Hinrich. It's that clear. So he must go. In fact, for the Bulls to have the ability to sign two max FA's. They would have to trade Hinrich, Salmons(unless he decides not opt back in) and Luol Deng or else they wouldn't have enough money to field a complete team. Even with that, the Bulls would be in cap hell once Noah's and Rose's extensions are due. I honestly don't know how they're going to do it, especially considering they have owners who don't like to pay tax. Wait, I always thought if they traded Salmons, it would give enough room to squeak under the cap...?
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 10, 2010 -> 11:28 PM) if they had a kid :lolhitting :lolhitting Also, JFP is pure class right there. Pure class.
  22. I'd really like them to hold onto Kirk, and trade Salmons instead. Otherwise, Pargo is your backup PG. And with the Rose uncertainty now, that's not good. Also, if Wade needs another bigtime FA to join him, then you're gonna have to go and get Bosh instead, and I'd rather have Kirk at SG than Salmons. Of the teams mentioned, I'd ask the Knicks and Kings, as you could luck into the #1 (and do a trade in the offseason or a sign-and-trade) or get something like Aldrich if it isn't a high pick.
  23. QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 10, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) Check out Cubs anal! Perfect
  24. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 10:43 AM) Not sure how many people play NHL 10 for PS3 on here but if you do and you you play online team play what team are you on and how do you like it? For anyone who doesnt know what it is you basically create one character and use them at a certain position and you can play pick up games or join teams and leagues. The more you play unlocks higher attribute points and allows you to be rated higher. They start a new season each month and even have playoffs at the end of the year played live somewhere in Canada. Anyways, if you play it or want to check it out here is my team Glitch3s G3t Stitch3s I should have anywhere between 15-20 guys depending on when you look at this and as of now we are 17-7 in the February season so if anyone is looking for a team let me know. Not a big fan of NHL Video games, but thats something I've always wanted in every sports game. There was an online game (Ultimate Baseball Online?) that let you do it a few years ago, but I think it shut down.
  25. Throwbacks seem to be very popular this year, especially with the Jazz and Cavs.
