  1. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 09:21 PM) Jake Peavy and Gordon Beckham are definitely the two players I can't WAIT to start watching again. Peavy's three starts last year just got me so fired up about this staff. I used to gush over Peavy to my Padres fan friend back in high school, and I NEVER imagined he'd actually be playing for my team someday. I'm like a kid at Christmas! I remember when he first was on the trading block, I wanted him badly. But the Sox weren't on his list of teams and I was sad. Then we got him, I remember being amped and telling my Sox-Fan Spanish teacher. He too was amped. Then he turned it down. Then he accepted! Then always right in the world.
  2. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) Gavin looks scared and timid on the mound. I always get the feeling that Gavin wants to run up to the batter and hit them repeatedly with the ball. He just looks a psycho.
  3. :lolhitting :lolhitting :lolhitting Anderson is trying to be Santos now, but two years older.

    MLB 10: The Show

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 11:45 AM) If the minimum level were veteran, that would mean that everyone would have to hop online and have at least 300 points. That means their record would have to be 30 games over .500, and they'd have to be ranked in the top 200 of all online players. The pitching interface is for the entire league. Ah, at least I accidentally put rookie. Also, didn't know the pitching interface is for the whole league... ...speaking of which, what do you guys prefer, Classic or Meter pitching?
  5. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 11:09 PM) I still don't get why he isn't getting that many minutes. Vinnie has trust issues. It's the same reason why JJ (wasn't) and Alexander aren't getting minutes. Because he doesn't know if he can trust them yet.
  6. I'm sorry for your loss Matt, and I'm glad the White Sox showed class and helped you rebuild something you lost. Speaking of good Sox PR, that reminded me of how when my brother was in High school, the school band was allowed to play on the field during a 7th inning stretch. Since this was in the early 2000's, some games were quite empty, and using paper they taped to seats "GO SOX" was in left field in big letters.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) You'd think people would like Nix for his awesome range and his flashy plays, but nooo.... I remember that people loved Alexei at second and he made boneheaded plays there too. It was the .224 batting average that got me. Plus, Alexei's glove flip to Paulie easily tops anything Nix has done.

    MLB 10: The Show

Just uploaded my all time Sox roster. Its called "Quins Alltime Sox" All names are said correctly unless otherwise stated. SP - Mark Buehrle #56 SP - Ed Walsh #82 SP - Ted Lyons #6 SP - Red Faber #8 (Game says "Red") SP - Billy Pierce #91 C - Carlton Fisk #27 1B - Paul Konerko #14 2B - Nellie Fox #22 (Game says "Nelson Fox") SS - Luis Aparicio #11 3B - Robin Ventura #23 LF - Joe Jackson #5 CF - Minnie Minoso #99 (Game says "Minnie") - Uses Carlos Quentins stance (I couldn't find a good pic of Minnie, and he led the league in HBP's a couple times...) RF - Harold Baines #33 (Game says "Harold Bain") - Based on pre-Knee injury Harold, so he can field well. DH - Frank Thomas #35 - Based on '93-'94 Frank. Is a monster. RP - Wilbur Wood #28 (Game says "Wil Wood") RP - Bobby Thigpen #73 (#37 went to Thornton for being on current roster) RP - Hoyt Wilhem #31 RP - Matt Thornton #37 RP - Roberto Hernandez #39 CL - Bobby Jenks #45 C - AJ Pierzynski #12 INF - Eddie Collins #18 INF - Luke Appling #44 OF - Magglio Ordonez #30 OF - Lance Johnson #30 My favorite faces are Harold, Pierce, and One Dog. I'll probably redo Nellie at sometime. Now for my next roster...every teams All-Time. Edit: If I made a League and picked the Sox as my team, would I be the only person who could use them, because if so, I'll go with Mariners. Eh, just went with the Mariners to be safe. Plus, I suck at hitting, so Safeco will suit me better. Made the league, it's called "SoxTalk" Max Teams: 14 Max Playoff Teams: 4 2 Series Against Each Team (Division and Other) 3 Games Per Series 5 Days Per Series Minimum Level: Rookie (Meant to put veteran...code of honor?) Max: Hall of Fame Game Difficult: Veteran Pitching Interface: Classic (Does this just apply to me or the entire league?) Guess Pitch: Default Strike Zone: On with HotZones Baserunning Controls: New Trades: On Injuries: On Auto Resolve: On Strike Zone: Variable Presentation: Broadcast Ejections: On Home Run Cam: On Draft Round Timer: 90 Sent out invites to everyone on the PSN List.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) I hate Jannero Pargo. Agreed. If anyone thinks Kirk is truly terrible, watch Pargo. The Bulls need to win out from here on if they want any shot at the playoffs.
  10. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) 1. That was the University of Minnesota Gophers. 2. They play outside every year. Before I read that, I took it as the Gophers beat the Twins.
  11. Nix is fine, the only reason I didn't want him to make it was because I really wanted to see CJ.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) Paulie man, change it up dude. Goatees lasted way too long. I just got psyched seeing his goatee back. Didn't he shave it in 2008?
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) 43/50. Man, 2000 was a bad draft. But I lean towards Bosh wanting to be the man, he'd be more "the man" in Chicago than Miami, where he wills always be behind Wade. Obviously Rose is loved, but he'd be bigger in Chicago.

    Baconnaise!

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 11:31 PM) Baconnaise! Jon Stewart is the sole reason that monstrosity survives to this day.
  15. Of those, Nix, but only because I don't trust Aquino and I want Hudson to pitch every 5 days.
  16. Garland is the Padres opening day starter. Man, if we traded Hudson, Torres & others for Gonzalez, their entire rotation could very well be made of ex-Sox (Garland, Hudson, Poreda (if he starts again), Torres, and Richard)
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) I think the only thing the Bulls overcoming the Raptors would do is make it more likely that Bosh joins Wade in Miami. Because he would be angry at the Bulls?
  18. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 08:00 PM) Bulls win today. Toronto lost, so the Bulls are half a game back. If the Bulls overcome the Raptors and get into the playoffs, does that increase, decrease, or do nothing to their Bosh hopes?
  19. I was gonna say something witty, but now I just want a Gordon Beckham "Your Love" Smiley. Congrats SHIPPS!
  20. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 09:48 AM) I think Miller's almost a lock to bolt for Houston this off-season to rejoin Rick Adelman as some Yao insurance, but we'll wait and see on that. Alexander's not a NBA caliber player at this point, he'll be lucky to stay on with the Bulls next season. The Bulls hit on Gibson though, and they have him locked up for another 3 years at a good rate right? Maybe, but Brad really seems to like it here. Plus, he'd still get regular minutes, but not enough to bug his knees that much. Plus, I'd love to keep him as a Lindsey Hunter type player-coach, since early this year Noah and Gibson talked about how they love having brad to teach them. He could possibly help Asik & Richard (though obviously not to the degree of Gibson & Noah). As for Alexander, I really don't feel like he's been given a chance (like Johnson earlier this season)
  21. Fire the team foot doctor. And let Alexander get some minutes for chrissake. There are no other SF's usable with JJ out. Who needs a big time FA PF? Gibson is becoming a good piece, but not that good Sam Smith. How's this for a bench (if we can afford it): PG - Acie Law SG - Xavier Henry (if he falls to us) SF - James Johnson/Joe Alexander PF - Taj Gibson/Chris Richard C - Brad Miller/Omer Asik Law, Richard & Alexander could all be brought back on cheap deals, Brad might be obtainable for $3M, and hopefully Henry or another usable SG falls to us.
  22. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 08:48 AM) I was actually pretty ecstatic about the trade, everyday my one friend would tell me how awesome the trio of Danks, Volquez, Diamond(DVD) were going to be. Id always tell him the only one I cared for of the bunch was Danks. Isn't it funny that of the DVD trio, the one that the Rangers held onto sucked and they traded the other 2 (1 of whom is an All-Star, the other who will be one) for often injured players? I remember being mad, because I thought we traded Freddy to allow McCarthy to pitch. I remember rooting for Danks to bury Floyd. Now I like them both .
  23. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 04:20 AM) I will second that thought. In addition to those two, and this has been said before but i'll say it again, we have taken our "inferior" quality of prospects and turned them into valuable pieces time and time again, Jake Peavy being the most recent of those pieces. We moved a first round pick, a fifth rounder, and a 13th round pick to get an #1, cy young caliber starter. that's not too bad. In comparison, the mariners had to gut their system giving up Jones, Tillman, and George Sherrill for Eric Bedard, who is nowhere near the talent that Jake Peavy is (even pre-injury I'd take Peavy over Bedard any day of the week) Everyone forgets the tall guy...
  24. Hmm, fans must like Alexander, they cheered loudly for him entering this game. Good job to Pargo, to bad he sucks most of the time.
  25. One game had 0 baserunners, so that is the one I go with. And even though the perfect game had The Catch, that was not a good defensive team out there. Every time a ball got thrown to first, I saw Josh Fields life ending after dropping a ball.
