QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 28, 2010 -> 12:43 AM) I bet there are a ton of ESPN types who were wrong on Edwin Jackson in 2009 or Jon Danks in 2008, too. Or giving up on Homer Bailey after 2009. Just imagine if we could have pulled off that Bailey trade, knowing what has happened since. :-( By the way, where is Chris Carter? I've seen him ranked 20-35 on some Top 100 lists out there. We' have a possible upgrade in the 5th starter spot?

This also reminds me how Matt Wieters and David Price we're locks to win the AL ROY last year. As for Keith Law, Wikipedia says hello.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) Best west coast road trip since the Jordan era? It's definitely the most confusing. We start out losing to bad teams, then go and whack the teams that we're supposed to beat us. -
Viciedo a non-prospect? Cubs 7th? Whatever Kenny did to Keith Law, I really want to know.

Here's a good Sam Smith piece on what Kirk does to this team. http://blogs.bulls.com/chicago_bulls_blog/...turnaround.html Here's my FA predictions: LeBron stays Wade stays Bosh goes to Bulls Boozer to Miami Stoudemire stays Joe Johnson I think stays, but that one is iffy. What I'd like to see: LeBron to Clippers: Not only would ESPN crap themselves with joy, but the Clippers could be a #2 seed with LeBron. Heck their current roster (outside LeBron) is already a lot better than the Cavs, and the potential is there when Griffin gets out from the Clipper Curse. The Clippers would have to free up just a little bit more cap room. Wade to the Bulls: Bulls would become a top 3 team (the others are Boston and Orlando) Joe Johnson and Carlos Boozer to the Nets: This one is assuming the Nets land John Wall, and I can see the Nets trading Harris for a good small forward somewhere. Stoudemire to Knicks: Amare would go because of D'Antoni. I could see the Knicks being a 5-6 seed depending on if they can sign someone else (not a max) to go with Stoudemire Bosh to Phoenix or Houston: I see Bosh going to Houston if they don't hold onto Landry and Hayes. Bosh is from Texas and that is an intimidating frontcourt. Also liking this Thunder game so far. -

QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 04:41 AM) Loving Noah, Loving Rose. Im even liking me some Hinrich... everyone else.. please leave Apparently, Hinrich to Lakers is ESPNs new odd rumor. Kirk to the LA for Morrison and Fisher. Or how about Kirk on the Cavs? For Ilgauskas. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/333394-...ls-kirk-hinrich I'd much rather trade Salmons at this point. as he doesn't fit in at SG like Kirk, and I like a Kirk-Rose backcourt for ball movement. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 10:18 AM) Baker has the stuff to be a legit 2 starter, although he regressed last season. Slowey is more like a Sonnanstine type who profiles as a 4/5 but pitched like a 2/3 in 2008. Blackburn is a 3/4, although he has had his moments against us and has really been their "big game" pitcher. Perkins, if he can stay healthy, has a "plus" arm. Pavano was suprisingly good for them, he could be anything from a 3-5. He pitched much much better than his ERA of around 5 would indicate because of one or two really terrible outings, the rest were basically "quality" starts. Yes, it's a far cry from Santana/Liriano/Radke/Garza, but they got the job done last year. Then you throw other names onto the list like Liriano, Manship, Swarzak, they have a lot of depth. That's at least 9 starters. We have six, unless you count Torres and Hynick as 7 and 8. Blackburn would be the guy I'd bet one turning into a #2, which is why I was surprised when I saw his statistics. However, they don't have a #1

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 09:29 AM) If that was the Sox rotation you would be calling for 65 wins. Its not good. Heck, the Royals could have a better rotation with Greinke and Meche at the top. They have a better rotation than the Indians, but the reason they win games is because they have the M&M boys. While the Sox rotation is made of 1's and 2's (and Freddy), the Twins have a rotation of 4's and 5's and maybe a 3 in Duensing.

I'm praying that it's CJ.

QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) If the Sox can be outbid by the A's. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/01/athl...hnny-damon.html A 1-2 punch of Pierre/Damon will mean an RBI feast for the #3-4-5 hitters in the Sox lineup!! This is my new want for the offseason.
-
The fact that the Twins signed Jim makes me despise the rotating monstrosity even more. I forget who said it, but it'll be hard to hear about the Twins small-ball when they out slug us by far.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) He doesn't care about personal stats which is why I respect him more. That is why I take jabs at Luol Deng a few times when Joakim had a quote after a game. Something like "He (Deng) was mad at me cause I stole a rebound away from him. But I don't care about statistics and all that stuff, I play to win." Thats why I've never liked Deng. He's always been so "me first". Didn't he hate how Rose got all the attention last year? -
QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) Knightni, you made my day. But you forgot this one

Joakim Noah, you are awesomeness. Also, Rose is trying to lock up an All-Star spot. The one annoying part of this road trip is beating the good teams and crapping out against bad teams. -
QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 05:04 AM) So realistic for a video game. Did I mention my Jerry Owens/Josh Fields/Wilson Betemit trade for Halladay? Sometimes video game trades just confuse me. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 05:12 AM) I played Uncharted 2 a bit and I must say, as far as graphics and story go, this game is absolutely stunning. The gameplay is awesome as well, but my only complaint is how difficult it can be to navigate and/or figure out what the hell to do sometimes. I've found myself walking around for minutes on end not having the slightest clue of how or what to do. I'm really liking my PS3 so far. I loved my 360, but the Blu Ray/free online capabilities/WiFi makes it a fantastic piece of equipment. I own 3 games: Uncharted 2, NHL 10, and Gran Turismo 5 and it's pretty badass. Takes a while to get used to the controller having played 360 for so long, but getting there. I'm a super Naughty Dog fan boy, but pick up Drake's Fortune. It's not as fun after playing Among Thieves, but it's still an incredibly fun game. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 02:46 PM) anyone plan on picking up MAG? I'm gonna try the demo and see, but I'm leaning towards it. Soxtalk Army anyone?

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 09:15 PM) Why is it old guys who join this team love the number 17? First Griffey, now Vizquel? I know Omar is because of Chico Carrasquel. No idea about Griffey.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 12:09 AM) Your talking 100+ wins right there. I also expect Buehrle to throw a no-hitter every start. I am an extreme optimist.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) Too bad he's right handed. So he is. The stupidity of this move has infected my brain.

I just realized. Jayson Nix is our lefty power bat now...crap.

QUOTE (DaveBrown85 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 08:33 PM) Even Lance Johnson? I was about 2 years old when we had Lance. However, the awesome nickname of One Dog makes up for that.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 08:05 PM) Not this late in the offseason he won't. Now or before the deadline, I really hope Kenny gets something for this team.
-
I dislike Juan Pierre as #1, mainly because I've always hated #1 on baseball jerseys.
-
Kenny better have Votto/Gonzalez/Fielder under wraps.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) I know, that's why it's important to me. I'm one of those people who take the time to create the most realistic minor league rosters possible. MLB 2K8 gives the user a lot of customizing options. With all the generic minor league players in that game, you can find a face that's similar to most any player. Well, if you ever pick up a The Show game, check out Knight's (from Operation Sports) rosters. http://www.operationsports.com/forums/scea...oster-09-a.html I remember one game in AAA where Brett Wallace and Dayan Viciedo had a slug fest. And having Beckham to take over for Fields was nice.

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) No they don't. Rockford, Kankakee, and the quad cities don't qualify either. Since when is Kankakee a quad-city? Plus, no one would confuse this dump with a big city. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 05:43 PM) After living in Chicago/burbs for 30 years, I've found a new love for Manny's Restaurant. Gino (the guy that flips plates and cuts corned beef) is one of my favorite people in Chicago. The fact that a guy will remember you if you go in 3 times a year is just awesome. Also, I like ketchup on my hot dogs, but Chicago style is growing on me. Used to hate Deep Dish, it's growing on me too.
