  1. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) EA Officially Announces ‘NBA Jam’ Vote for Andres Nocioni to be in NBA Jam! If the NBA Jam teams are to my liking, I may finally bite the bullet and get a Wii. This would be purely on childhood memories.. QUOTE (Real @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) anybody have demons souls? love this game, currently lvl 106 I'm only in the 1-3 area right now (school started right when I started getting into it) but the game is indeed fantastic.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 04:57 AM) For some reason, the first names that came to mind to my mind were Borchard, Fields and Brian Anderson. It has been pretty rare that someone failed miserably with the Sox and then lit it up for another playoff contender. We've had players excel at times for lesser teams (like Kip Wells with the Pirates) or Aardsma/Masset/MacDougal this season, but Aaron Rowand is one of the few position players to do well outside USCF. Didn't Anderson always want to go out and party when guys went home to there wives?
  3. QUOTE (since56 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 08:05 PM) I have high hopes for our starters as most of us do. I have some concerns however and I think we should not annoint them just yet. 1. Beurhle had a great start to his career and remains solid but no longer great. He is not a number one and has some off nights. He could easily go .500 say 11 and 11 2. Peavy seems like a great competitor with a Cy Young but has had injury problems. 3. I love danks but what is with this blister/circulation problem on his finger? Remember his outing against the Twins before he went on the DL? He went out of the rotation twice due to this didn't he? This seems like a mystery type of injury that could be chronic. 4. Floyd can't hold a runner on. So he uses the slide step and then injures his hip. He missed the end of the season with this injury. Leave his motion alone and A.J. has no chance to throw any one out change it and? 5. Garcia??? I'm hoping for the best but a reborn junkballer..... I am not predicting total collapse or gloom but lets be realistic, will these guys prove to be the best staff in the A.L.? They might, I hope so. 1. Buehrle's actually been working with Coop this offseason to strengthen his arm, so he can keep pitching stellar like he does in the first halves of seasons. 2. Last year, Peavy's injuries were freak injuries. He won't be running the bases aside from maybe 2-3 games all year, and the ball that hit his arm in AAA was just bad luck. 3. No idea, but we haven't head much about it though, so it might not be that bad. 4. Same, though I think they just shut him down to observe Hudson/Peavy/Garcia and to prevent worsening it. 5. Freddy can still pitch but it's a wildcard. I'll take Hudson as the backup.
  4. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 01:02 AM) My god... if that article doesn't get anyone fired up about not only ST, but this season in general, then I don't know what will. Peavy will be fun to watch all year, especially his competitiveness on the mound. Man, I was already amped for baseball because our open gyms just started at HS, but one thing guys at my school have lacked is drive, which is why I love this line. "I want that dog pile, that memory, that ring. If you're not dreaming of that same thing, I question where you are as an athlete."
  5. Miguel Gonzalez being included intrigues me, especially since I think Flowers will be dealt at some point this year.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) Note to self: Thank you for quitting on the Family Guy a few years ago, thank you for only watching American Dad once, and thank you... thank you so much, for never considering The Cleveland Show. What a pile of steaming s***. No kidding, why all my friends insist that it is still funny is a world beyond me. And man, trading Chauncey will haunt Detroit for a while.
  7. QUOTE (Cubano @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) KW is probably trying to do the same with some Cubans free agents. Yuniesky Maya may be a target for him. Hmm, if could sign Maya to that and he pitched well, that'd be wonderful.
  8. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) I used to live in Bridgeport. Its not third world. Second maybe, but not third. If my memory serves correctly, thats the area with more Churches per square foot than the vatican, though that could have been another area. Mine are simple generic ones - Work out more, eat healthier (amazingly, I've kept these two up) - Girlfriend (would have been done right on New Years...teenage girls and their problems) - Become good enough in baseball so that my coach has to play me over the entitled fools we call a team.

    Want to feel old?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 11:07 PM) When I was 7, I had to touch myself. :lolhitting I'm only 17, and this video makes me feel old. And the part with the biggest celebrity made me sad for humanity. My friends would probably answer the same.
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 03:26 AM) I respect them as an organization for what they have done, but that doesn't mean I don't hate them. Exactly, I respect a lot of Twins players (Mauer, Hunter when he was there, Santana when he was), but god I hate that club more than the Cubs. Below, me and a Cubs fan. CF: Why do Sox fans hate the Cubbies so much? We concentrate on the Cardinals. Me: You know the Twins? CF: Who? Me: One of the best ****ing run teams in baseball, and the Sox main divisional rival. Trust me, I hate them way more. Also, back to respecting some players... I wanted Santana in the NL, so I got my wish and I still like him. I so wanted Hunter when he became a FA, and can't stand the Angels for swooping out of nowhere to snatch him.
  11. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) Really? I'd be the type to replay the level so I wouldn't die. I think in some interview it said there was no rewinding or something like that. Still an intriguing game nonetheless.
  12. QUOTE (3E8 @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 10:37 PM) Or throw basestealers out at second from their knees, or score from 2nd on a passed ball...multiple times. And throw a 96 MPH fastball on top of it with the ability to play 3 positions (SS, 3B, C) Dudes got a sweet swing.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) Kids aren't usually able to hit 500 ft HRs either. And that ball didn't land yet, if not for a wall, it could have kept going. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liS3kGvQ9Bk
  14. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 10:10 AM) I've never heard about this game until you mentioned it. It looks awesome. It seems like the story is a movie. If one of the four main characters dies at any point, they stay dead. Just throwing that out. Also, in The Show, does anyone else find the full MiLB rosters online (made by players...) and use them?
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) That's a horrible contract for Cincy. I thought Jocketty was smart...? It doesn't seem as bad as it was spread over 10 years...this deal intrigues me.
  16. The comments section for this MLBTR article are just priceless. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/01/al-central-moves.html And I checked, 28 year old A relief pitcher. Darn name.
  17. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) Frankly this is a huge missed opportunity for some reborn Carlos Castillo humor. I am too young to remember Castillo, I only really got interested in baseball in 2000, and just knew the big names of the Sox (Maggs, Frank, Jose, Durham, Belle when he was around) QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) What is Vizquel like at third? He didn't have any errors there last year in 101 innings and 27 chances.
  18. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 01:10 PM) While Nix doesn't have the pure speed that Lillibridge does, I would rather keep Nix and his versatility over Lillibridge. Nix did fine with the Sox in SBs last year and although his minor league totals are much worse than Lillibridge (SB/CS ratio), Nix is superior in all facets of the game excluding speed, which Nix is pretty solid anyway. Lillibridge can pretty much only pinch run while Nix can play almost anywhere and provide some pop occasionally. I'd still take CJ and his catching ability (again, assuming rotating DH stuff) over either.
  19. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 07:42 AM) And yet having over 2,600+ hits, 800+ steals in 954 atempts, a lifetime average of .294, and a career OBP of .385 can't get a guy in. I'm assuming Raines?
  20. Chapman got a $30M deal from an unknown NL team. Rumored to be Marlins or Nats. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/01/arol...-30mm-deal.html I'm hoping the Nats, that team could use a future. Zimmerman, Harper, Strasburg, and Chapman would be one hell of a core, especially since as shown with Teixeira, they are willing to offer big deals.
  21. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 11:10 AM) Too bad we dont still have pinch runner extraordinaire Clayton Richard Well, let's give Tony Pena something to do.
  22. Does anyone know how fast Retherford is? I could see him making it, since he's learning to catch.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) White Sox DH Jim Thome hands starter Mark Buehrle the game ball before the Opening Day matchup between the White Sox and the Indians. I get the joke, but if Thome looked like that he'd either set a new record for inside-the-parkers or walks. ...or inside the parks on walks.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 08:40 AM) They would still be shooting at game time. Then that's how they'll play, just shooting 3's. Gosh darn it, this is a problem that needs fixing. Also, I want to see the Joakim 3-pointer.
