  1. If Retherford makes the roster, it's either because Flowers is gonna stay at AAA to gain value/continue starting or we are going with a rotating DH.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) I believe what you meant to say is that it is universally accepted that the PS3 has superior graphic POTENTIAL. Whereas the XBOX 360 is being stretched to it's graphical limits right now, the PS3 has more and more and more room to grow. Right now, they are pretty much on par, but if Uncharted 2 is any indication, the PS3 is looking to take that next step with it's exclusives. Isn't Uncharted only around 70% PS3's power? That games graphical prowess (and the fact that despite the fantastic graphics, tons of things are happening on screen at any time) is the best I've ever seen (quick note: Huge Naughty Dog fanboy). I'd love to see what ND does with Uncharted 3 (or if my dreams happen, their next Jak and Daxter game). Also, everyones forgetting one minor $100 thing you can buy for a 360 but is built into a PS3, WiFi.
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) What a sloppy game to watch. Yet the Bulls still lose. In other news, there's snow in my backyard.. Vinny needs to take all the players, and have them shoot 3's at practice. When you get 100 3's you can go home.
  4. Kittle. He's going to SoxFest. But between Dye-Thome, Thome.
  5. QUOTE (Sox72 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) It used to be the Cardinals until I recently moved to St. Louis. Now, I can't stand them. It's common to hear that they have the best fans in baseball. What everyone fails to mention is that they are delusional as well. One fan is intent on convincing me that Brendan Ryan is the best shortstop in the NL. I brought up a slew of other names but apparently was being shortsighted because I wasn't taking into account defense. Another was trying to convince me that Wainwright is the best pitcher in the NL. I guess there is at least SOME argument to that, but I hated the fact that he was saying he was a true MLB ace based on one season. And no one is worse than their sports-radio hosts. One week they think the Cardinals can't live without Holliday (when there are rumors that he'll re-sign), the next he is a huge detriment to the team (when he's rumored to sign elsewhere). I have to admit, though, that I've had a hatred for the this particular host after he said before the NHL season that the Blackhawks would miss the playoffs due to losing Khabibulan and the Blues would win the division. Point is, St. Louis fans may be loyal but it's almost to a fault. (Whew.....glad I got that rant off my chest). Go Giants.....what's not to love about a team that has had the likes of Barry Bonds and Jeff Kent on their roster. Plus, their GM always gives out the most fiscally responsible contracts. My god that is true. When my brother went to Mizzou, I couldn't stand the Cards love. When ever he wore his Sox hat people asked him if he wore it because he was a Cubs hating Cardinal fan, but wanted an AL team to root for. There were other things that annoyed him about them, like the aforementioned blind devotion. There was a thing about how the Cardinals should have won the 2005 WS, because they were the definitive best team in baseball that year or something like.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 07:28 AM) I don't know why Crittenton has received a pass so far, but if the incident happened like reported, he'll probably never play in the NBA again. There are reports that the earlier description isn't really what happened, in fact, I read where the gun Crittenton pointed at Arenas was one of Arenas' spares. I think Crittenton has gotten a pass because Arenas was really suspended for his attitude on the subject (allegedly). But still pointing a gun period QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 08:55 AM) That would make sense; you have to wonder as much why 2 of the Wizards would have guns in the locker room as you did when you first heard that one of them did. They ran out of magic wands
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 09:12 AM) Weird, I thought he re-signed with FLA. Boy, I think I have a new 2nd favorite team - the Phillies now have Gload and Wassermann. And as the Phillies players like to call him "DeWayne Wise Mother ****er!!!" Also, Gloads entrance song is Harvester of Sorrow. If he was still here, he and Paulie back to back with that song would be so awesome, the world would explode.
  8. I won't lie, I loved Pods. I really didn't want him to sign in the division, was hoping he'd be a Giant. Oh well, I hope the best for Pods, just not against us.
  9. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) I just don't get what all the big fuss about what Arenas did, they were unloaded weapons...what Crittenton did was actually much worse. Loading a gun and aiming it doesn't seem so bad. Bringing empty ones on the other hand, evil! (FYI, I think both should be suspended, but Crittenton far more so)
  10. Dodgers for me. Koufax is my all time favorite non-Sock.
  11. How many teams like Hinrich and Thomas? Hinrich & Thomas for Boozer Hinrich for Butler Thomas for Harrington Hinrich and Thomas for Bosh\ Anyway, if I could do that for Bosh I would, if I could extend him, since it could be used to try and lure Wade to town.
  12. I know most on this board don't think Baines is a HOFer, but I remember a while ago the Sun-Times had a thing on how he was far better than McGwire aside from HR's. The fact that McGwire gets a lot more votes is kind of a disgrace, and he would be in if he hadn't done roids.
  13. That painting of Paulie made me laugh, he kinda has a "What the heck is this?" look on his face.
  14. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) That's a great point. Some of these guys just don't get it. How a writer does not vote for a 12X All-Star, and 10X Gold Glove Award winner is beyond me. I'm ready to see the voting go to the players (peers of the nominees) and let the writers stick to writing. See, that wouldn't work, because then deserving players would get in/not have to wait.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 07:13 PM) Randy Johnson almost became a White Sox shortly before he really started dominating. In fact, the trade was so close to happening, they had his jersey made and hanging in a clubhouse stall. Whoever the Seattle GM was at the time must have changed his mind at the last second. The Sox may have dominated the 90's. ...what? Darn you 90's Seattle GM, darn you.
  16. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) I love the current uniforms. I also don't mind how often we wear the blacks because that's my favorite jersey. The black shirt with the white pin striped pants is my favorite uniform in all of sports, obviously I'm biased. The only changed in the current uniform I would like is a second hat. I don't know how it'd work, because a white hat would get pretty messy, but seeing a second hat would be cool. http://www.lids.com/pid/20141102 I recently bought that hat (had to replace my black one, and it was buy one get one free at my store) and I love it. It's incredibly sleek. And I'd like to see it worn once in a while Though I really like this hat with the old cursive C logo (debated which one to get for a good 10 minutes) http://www.lids.com/pid/20141105
  17. Seattle's winning the AL West next year, hands down. With that fantastic 1-2 punch of Felix-Lee, a phenomenal defensive team, and good bats....just wow. They've come along way from the Bavasi fiasco.
  18. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) We need to trade this guy. Morel is a nice prospect, but he put up a .281/.335/.453/.788 line as a 22-year-old in Winston-Salem, which is very good but certainly not great, plus he's not exactly a toolbox, and on top of that, he plays a power position where the offensive standards in the Major Leagues basically start with his W-S production. I get that because of his defense he is one of the safer bets we have to make the majors, but if you're making a top-10 list of "safe bets" then Jared Mitchell isn't even on there and Hudson is #1. If ceiling is the main issue I have no idea how Morel outranks all these other guys, and if it's production + ceiling + age for level then I still have no idea how Morel outranks these other guys. I'd agree with , as I also think Morel is a good prospect, but no where near as good as Viciedo. At least the future is looking bright, because we either keep these players and see how they pan out, or we trade them for some MLB level players.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 11:38 PM) That's fine and dandy, but then the Sox lose whatever they have built up in the last two years for one player who is likely gone following the 2011 season and could easily go into full blown rebuilding mode come 2012. I'd prefer to sign Thome or Guerrero while keeping the above prospects, and using them at a more appropriate time in a deal. The reason I'd be fine with it, is the way we've been drafting lately gives me the idea that they could keep drafting some good prospects so by 2012 we're still in the clear. Also, it is likely that Gonzalez would be gone after 2011, but lets say the team makes the ALCS or WS, Reinsdorf might jump the payroll up a bit.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 10:31 PM) Sweepstakes? Hey, the Mets are interested...so therefore, sweepstakes! Also, Hoyer is saying Gonzalez isn't someone they are looking to trade.
  21. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) Also acquiring Butler, would allow you to move Luol Deng plus an expiring contract for T-Mac if the Bulls wanted to go down that route. Butler's pretty much a 3 thru and thru. Which is why I'd rather move Deng for Butler. Last year Salmons played well at the 3 for the Bulls, not so much at the 2 this year. But if you can move Hinirch for Butler, than Deng + James and/or Salmon for T-Mac, you'd have enough cap to sign, like, 3 big FA's, wouldn't you?
  22. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 07:20 PM) Hmm; I'm assuming they wouldn't take Deng instead? I'm warming up to Deng, but I'd much rather have PG: Rose/Hinrich SG: Hinrich/Salmons SF: Butler/Salmons than PG: Rose/Pargo SG: Butler/Salmons SF: Deng/Salmons Though, if you did Hinrich-Butler and then Deng/Salmons/James-McGrady, you'd have astronomical cap room.
  23. QUOTE (Ranger @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 07:04 PM) Within the context of Konerko having been signed to a slightly-less-than-market-value multi-year extension (in the 2006 offseason), how could they have realistically signed a better, cheaper first baseman for this year? Weren't the Angels and Orioles offering him something like 5yr/$70M?
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 06:42 PM) -Konerko to LAA has no potential whatsoever. They have Morales at 1B, Matsui DHing, and an outfield of Rivera, Hunter, and Abreu. The White Sox will have to explore a different avenue if they are to trade for Adrian Gonzalez, and odds are very good that they won't even consider it due to the cost of it this late in the offseason with good pieces already off the market. -Chris Young is not horribly paid. His contract entails for $6.25 mill next year and then a club option for $8.25 mill. Odds are pretty damn good the Padres are going to be looking to deal him separately at the deadline with the hope that he puts up a good and healthy first half of the season. -Dan Uggla is going to cost waayy too much to be a backup infielder, and I don't know why you'd trade for him when you can just sign Thome or Guerrero to a similar contract without having to give up the prospects. This isn't a video game world. Which reminds me: Fields, Owens, Betemit, for Halladay. Yes, the game took that trade. If only we had those 3 players still, we'd have Halladay. Anyway if we went after Gonzalez, I'd explore every possible avenue without giving up Paulie or the rotation. Lets look at what the Braves gave up for Teixeira: Saltalamacchia, Andrus, Beau Jones, Neftali Feliz and Matt Harrison. To match Saltalamacchia, we could send them Flowers. To match Andrus, we'd probably send Viciedo (as in terms of how good the prospect is, and as far as I know, the Padres don't need a SS) To match Feliz, send Hudson. To match Harrison and Jones, you could PTBNL Mitchell or heck, Carlos Torres and Retherford.
  25. To Paul Lukas, I have this to say: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGSI316RwWs...feature=channel
