  1. If I'm the Sox I offer a Viciedo type contract but loaded with incentives, to make everyone happy but nothing near what the Yankees and Red Sox will offer. Though, ever since Jose fizzled out in NY, haven't these super Cuban prospects (Alexei, Viciedo) been speculated on getting big contracts from bidding wars and coming up with far less? I just wish Torres was his agent, we'd have him wrapped up by now.
  2. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 07:03 PM) Looks like the crazy non-animated Meg Griffin succeeded. http://blog.taragana.com/sports/2009/10/22...y-mishap-39664/
  3. Well, looks like we're preparing for life without Wise. Thank god, because from this thread and a quick stats browsing, this guy seems to be Wise but can swing a bat.
  4. My prayers have been answered. Fox's idiotic game broadcasts will finally be funny as ****ing any ****.
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 15, 2009 -> 10:51 PM) Why? Billy Beane trades with KW all the time. They're actually really good friends. I don't see why KW would have any trouble dealing with guys like Depodesta or Forst. Hell, he seemed to get along great with Riccardi too. Oh, I always thought Beane and Kenny had some sort of dislike for each other (didn't something in Moneyball call out Kenny's GM style?), and that trades like the Swisher one were because Beane thought he was robbing Kenny (though that trade really had no "winner" in my eyes).
  6. Got 13...all of the 00's other than Honel, none of the 90's other than Wells, and got Black Jack, Frank, and Robin.
  7. This just proves even more that the NBA is the only league who can run rookies right. Seriously Chapman (and even Yusei Kikuchi) should have to enter the draft (the one thing that kept Strasburg's situation being worse than it was) and not be able to start a massive bidding war for unproven guys.
  8. If we traded Buehrle (or Paulie) I'd cry. He's the heart of the franchise. Plus, you're not getting a great return for him Post-Perfection.
  9. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 15, 2009 -> 10:59 AM) And if the Padres look to be moving towards hiring someone that we don't think will be a great trading partner for us, then if I'm Kenny I work my ass off trying to get Rick Hahn a job as Padres GM. If that works then I try to get Hahn enough power to make the deal for me. That's how bad I want that guy. Major offense + middle-of-the-order lefty bat + cheap contract = perfect target for Kenny Williams. I like it, aside from losing Hahn. He's way too helpful an assistant GM. Since Kenny is a respected GM around the league, as long as it isn't one of Billy Beane's disciples who gets the job, Kenny would have a trading partner.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 05:11 PM) Brandon Inge? Is that a comparison to who Morel could be like? Also, I'd rank Hudson #1 and Flowers #2, but thats just because for some reason I can't explain, I have a feeling Flowers won't exactly be a stud, while I think Hudson will.
  11. I'm all for Big Jim coming back at maybe $3-$4 mil, because quite frankly, if the Rays start shopping Crawford, I see Kenny trading Flowers + Others for him, and Abreu and Johnson could get overpaid.
  12. Floyd is cheap for what he si, Danks going into arb., so I'd deal Danks first. Hudson goes before either though.
  13. I think I speak for us all when I say Dotel got Linebrinks contract after '07.
  14. Cowley also reads Soxtalk, he wants Figgins, Abreu, Gonzalez or Crawford.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) Is Dewayne your brother? No, but lets sum it up this way. Playing MLB: The Show, my OF was Pods/Rios/Quentin, with Kotsay backing up. Rios hit .380 (ok, not realistic at all, but Pods got a Gold Glove and Kotsay got one as a 4th OF) and my brother was mad I kept him on the roster instead of cutting him and calling up Virtu-Wise who was hitting a robust .220 in AAA.
  16. My heart weeps. Seriously, my brother and I get in fights over D-Wise all the time. I say he's a career minor leaguer and 25th guy at best, yet my brother wants him starting over the $60 million dollar man.
  17. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 10:43 PM) Come on, this game didn't anywhere near the importance of the Bucker game. And nobody remembers Merkle because it was 100 years ago. Yea, the Cards not winning an NLDS game on the road is different than the Red Sox ending their curse.
  18. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 08:02 PM) What other 10 players would you throw in that deal? The entire Double AA roster minus D2. We have to give you new people to write about.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 07:25 PM) Marquez a good arm? he's in the gutter value-wise right now and is at the very most a throw-in for filler. Torres has maybe some marginal value, same with Nunez, but none of those three are worth much. And, even though I'm as big a fan or Wassermann as there is on this board, Ehren isn't even on the 40. He's got near-zero value in trade. So basically, you are trading Flowers straight up for Crawford, and that won't get it done. If you are right though, and Flowers + shrapnel would do it, then I'd be all for it. After reading Marquez's stats, I'll agree with you. I think Torres and Nunez might be able to be thrown in, and the reason for throwing in Ehren was he did have some brief success in the majors, so the Rays may take a look at him.
  20. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 10:32 AM) A team that has 4 quality starters, why does everyone want to mess with that? They read Phil Rogers.
  21. Crawford wouldn't net a monster price, but he'd demand probably Flowers and a good arm or two (Torres, Nunez, Marquez, other minor leaguers) and a throw in reliever (Wassermann?)
  22. Wilson Betemit Someone needed to warm up #15 at 3rd Base.
  23. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) I mean its a stretch to put HOFers playing makes it a better game. My point was HOFers stepping up, not so much the fact they were in the game.
  24. I can sum it up as... Casual baseball fan prefers yesterday (exciting, errors, mental gaffes, working over mistakes). Die hard fan prefers the Blackout (each pitch mattering, HOFers, defense, pitchers duel)
  25. I voted for the 1-0 victory, because it had everything you could want. A pitchers duel. A blackout. Hall of Famers stepping up (Griffey & Thome)
