  1. It's a few things with Kelley As others have said, he was a big risk/big reward guy. He had 12 innings his senior year of baseball - that was it. High school pitcher drafted in the COVID year and post-MiLB reconstruction, so he went straight to affiliate ball. That's stiff competition after a shortened senior season and no "rookie" season. After a rough start and an injury, he rehabbed for 2.2 innings in rookie ball and then went straight back to Kannapolis. Now, they've been using him as a piggy back reliever - so they might not be writing him off entirely as a starter, but trying to build up his innings and confidence in a different way. All of that is a long way of saying that he's sad a lot of stumbling blocks, but he's still only 21-years-old.
  2. Stadium DJ trying to will Gavin into hitting a home run.
  3. Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh
  4. It helps that they're sneakily assembling fun lineups vs. the early season horror shows the Barons and Knights were running out.
  5. Arrogance to show that he's smarter than everyone else. And money.
  6. I mean if this is all of sports, you have to include places that have hazing, Kyrie Irving's constant destructive tendencies, the A's, LIV and Saudi sports washing, the Browns deciding sexual assault is worth commiting hundreds of millions to, etc. But a sports personality who is only listened to because his brother is a Hall of Famers went full hyperbole, which only serves to lessen the Sox dysfunction and malfeasance because Hahn or Kenny could see that and go "really?"
  7. My dad was bemoaning Colson's batting average to me. I had to explain that his OBP is enough to be happy about in such a small sample size.
  8. Yimi Garcia has a negative WAR this season, Blue Jays have a team option next year. Jarlín García is on the Pirates 60-day IL. They have a team option. Maikel Garcia is a young Royals player so Pedro definitely wants to trade Colson for him.
  9. The A's are a wildcard because they just don't care. I've got no idea what the Royals situation is. Sox are third for dibs.
  10. Next pitcher to be drafted from Fullerton Union High School is gonna feel the pressure.

I don't remember Eloy, Moncada or Robert being feared to the point that teams pitched around them in the minors. What is this insanity?

Oh, right after bmags' post, Lee got the team's second hit.

    Korey Lee read this.
  14. My brother's idol is Ozzie Guillen, so I'll use him as a barometer here. He also told me Coop deserved a lifetime pass for '05. Most of the fanbase would probably be cool with trading Colson Montgomery for Carlos Correa or swapping Noah Schultz for Chris Sale. Fans love big familiar names.
  15. Ozzie was phenomenal from 2004-2006 and 2008, but let's drop him in today's game. He's probably not gonna get a workhorse starter with the Sox, let alone the 4 or 5 that he was used to. Now he needs a reliable defense for his coaching style to work. Lmao with this team. A speedster up top. Right now he'd have Benintendi or TA. TA coached by Ozzie could actually be pretty fun. The bullpen...well. Without the workhorses, I don't see Ozzie having a good time with that. Everyone hated Sunday lineups back when Ozzie was successful - is that going to change now? Ozzie basically hated playing rookies. So expect the Elvises, Grandals, and Fraziers of the world to get playing time over Sosa, Lee, and Colas. He'd want his vet signings. There literally might not be a better fit for Ozzie's style of coaching than Elvis.

Elko feels like the definition of a rising tide lifts all boats. He's taking pressure off of the other prospects by just being steady and competent, which is so useful and something we've sorely needed. It's also great that Shirley spent a 10th round pick on him vs. a second rounder like Hostetler.
  17. But let's keep playing this game! Who is Ozzie's current employer? Reinsdorf. What are his qualifications? 4 good seasons as a manager (2004-2006, 2008) - the last of which was 15 years ago - and the fact that he rants about the White Sox. And the fact that he used to be attached to the organization. His resume isn't paper thin but the team can and should do better.
  18. Since his last playoff appearance in 2008, Ozzie has a .498 win percentage. If we add 2007 since that's the cutoff you did for Kenny, he has a .489 win percentage.
  19. Jay Cuda in absolute shambles that he didn't have this stat first.

  21. Great. AJ can go get some managerial experience in the minors or on a major league bench. f*** first time hires that leverage their relationship with the organization to weasel in here.
