Will the Sox prioritize Moncada over youngsters?
Quin replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Funnily enough, Benintendi was #1 (at some publications) when Moncada was acquired. But Kopech was also the #1 RHP prospect and Eloy was a top 10 RF. They weren't far behind. -
Will the Sox prioritize Moncada over youngsters?

I need to asterisk that TJ wasn't his fault, unless we credit his one-track mind obsession with velocity. But we all know Moncada's 2019 and 2021 seasons. Every other year he was either hurt or had COVID. Eloy is the second-most snake bitten player ever after Ian Hamilton, but he did win a Silver Slugger as a rookie. Kopech was an OK fifth starter in 2021 and then cratered. -
Will the Sox prioritize Moncada over youngsters?

I'd say Kopech is in the driver's seat. Moncada and Eloy at least had varying degrees of success and dealt with chronic injuries. Everything with Kopech was his own doing. -
He's gonna do a TLR and trade for the wrong player at some point, isn't he?

I mean the fact that he can't say Luis Robert's name correctly annoys the s%*# out of me. It's a small thing, but indicative of the fact that he's not on top of things. This is a player he was in charge of developing. He's worked with Robert for years.

Cause that's what he used to justify Getz. Shrugging and go "aww shucks" just means they get a carte blanche excuse to suck. It'd be like if fans acted like GarPax were above reproach because it's just how Jerry operates. Getz is failing miserably by both his and JR's publicly declared standards while simultaneously creating the worst major league team of all time. They deserve all the smoke.

No no no, it's not his fault because the Sox were never able to develop depth while he was responsible for that aspect of the org. Every time he opens his mouth he makes me realize that he didn't go to Michigan to play school.

Remember when he said it would be an aesthetically pleasing brand of baseball that pitchers would love to play in front of?

These are the vibes I had when Braden Shewmake was on pace to hit 162 home runs this season.
-
And everyone here still views it as a billionaire handout and loathes it.
-
If we're going of DRS (which was being used in the other thread), his current small sample size extrapolated to a full year would make him worth two peak Andrelton Simmons.
-
He's as much of a prospect as DeLoach and Fletcher. The only difference is Getz didn't acquire him. And before everyone starts banging the drum on Fletcher's defense, yes, he has looked amazing lately. He also looked like a newborn deer earlier in the season. Maybe they'll actually get a hitting instructor in Charlotte of all places and they can possibly have a RF with some power.

Could we Match (or beat) Phillies from 1938 - 1942?
Quin replied to Texsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The answer to all futility questions is "yes." -
Jerry could have his two in-house play-by-play broadcasters all-over national airwaves, but no, we get Schriffen instead.
-
The Sox call up Schumaker: "Hey, think about it. If you make the playoffs with this team you'll be a lege-" Schumaker: "Sorry, couldn't hear you. Was signing my contract with the Cardinals."
-
Hey, that's not your line! Eh, part of me thinks that we got the complete opposite problem of what we were worried about with Tony. We all thought he'd be a hard ass and kill a good clubhouse, but instead the clubhouse ran wild and egos were left unchecked. Pedro continued it. Kopech shares blame, but, like a lot of issues, we can trace some of this back to TLR.

And no interceptions or lost fumbles by Caleb. He kept missing on home run balls, but he didn't lose them the game like Levis. Speaking of no interceptions or lost fumbles: Fields had a good game against Atlanta. 200 combined yards. The 4th rounder may be in sight. As for the 2nd pick from the Panthers, uhhh

Old school Bears win work for now.
-
Punt God doing what he can
-
The Bears OL is the Sox RF/2B
-
If anyone wants a...highlight? Fields is doing well at the moment. Keep that 4th rounder in sight.

Teven Jenkins #1 receiver?
