Roster Crunch: Burger, Sheets, Mendick, Harrison, Garcia
Quin replied to CentralChamps21's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Let's go Maximum Tony: TA - C Robert - DH Moncada - SS Abreu - 3B Grandal - 1B Eloy - RF Pollock - CF Burger - 2B Vaughn - LF McGuire - P -
Based on Lenyn's history I want to see him in Charlotte first (@Y2Jimmy0 explained at length the whole cut Harrison, promote Yolbert, promote Sosa to AAA scenario), but I wouldn't hate this - I would be cautious though.

@bmags and the Burger Boys looking good. Romy's injuries make me a sad man.

Padres To Release Cano, and Select Nomar Mazarra

In lieu of Gonzalez and Walker, I have a feeling our drafting team wants to start screaming at our development team. -

Sheets needs to go, then Harrison. Much prefer Danny's glove and, I can't believe I'm saying this, bat. -
Qualified for Sox manager.

Energy vampire.

C'mon man, how did you also whiff on the sarcasm?

He has eliminated our ability to be up by 10 runs, yes.

The absolute shitstorm that would ensue if players could opt out of the military uniforms. -
@bmags did.

Tony, master of bullpen management

None. Get hungry dudes up here.

I decided to go back and see why they released him and, of course, cutting Gonzalez was a cost-saving measure: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/08/giants-to-claim-luis-gonzalez-from-white-sox.html They could have put him on the 60-day DL (he was having shoulder surgery) but decided to cheap out, release him and were hoping to sign him to a minor league deal afterwards.

He's not exactly lighting Charlotte on fire, but yeah, fuck it. He's hitting for more power than he ever has before and like you said, an actual outfielder. Also, he's two years older, not younger, than Vaughn. Meanwhile, Sheets needs to go down to Charlotte to find his swing again. -

Look man, if @Balta1701 is blaming someone more than Rick Hahn, that means he's feeling real strongly about it. Also, managing a lineup, bullpen, rotation, and strategy is exactly how you help players live up to their potential. They're not robots out there - they need to be put in positions to succeed.

I do worry about Jay Cuda's health

And Cy Young runner up Wheeler.

I don't see any difference between losing in the ALDS and the World Series. In fact, losing in the World Series is worse than losing in the ALDS because it gives you even more false hope.
-
If he were healthier, you really couldn't ask for a better 4th outfielder than Adam Engel, 19th-round pick.
-
He's 5th in OBP in the Carolina league. Of the 4 ahead of him, 3 were drafted in 2020. Lenyn Sosa has the 5th highest OPS in the Southern League, where Regions Field eats hitters alive. Of the 4 ahead of him, 3 (including the Barons' Tyler Nelsony) are 26-years-old or older or have moved on to AAA (Jerar Encarnacion, a 24-years-old corner OF/1B). He also has the 6th highest .OBP and second highest .AVG (behind Encarnacion). This is all while keeping his strikeouts low (K% is 14.2%) a decent walk rate (6.4%), and clubbing 10 home runs and driving in 37 runs from the middle infield. Half the reason Yolbert Sanchez needs to be called up is because Lenyn Sosa is kicking AA's ass all while being two and a half years younger than league average.
