I remember that one time a poster suggested trading Adam LaRoche to the Cardinals, who would play him at second base. This reminds me of that.

This is what I was alluding to when I said defensive monster, but what are the Bulls possibly adding that makes the Jazz do this deal unless the Jazz want out of Gobert's contract?
-
Unless they're getting a defensive monster, how're they upgrading from Vuc? Dude was top 5 in rebounding (total rebounds) and did well in the post (sixth best post scorer) - his three point shooting is what cratered. Take out Vuc and this team has two massive, massive holes and is probably taking on a horrendous deal. What they need is to actually get another big man out there with him instead of Javonte Green for most of the season. White can definitely go. What the team needs most of all is 3 point shooting, which Zo returning will help with, but they need it so badly on the wing depth.

Well, currently he has a big arm in CF, and according to people talking to James, has looked legit there (James, if I'm misquoting you, let me know). So, even more puzzling.

I'm reminding myself that we have small sample sizes, but then also telling myself that they don't apply to Ramos, Yolbert, or any other Sox prospect doing well.

Gary Cohen, Ron Darling, and Keith Hernandez.

Maybe it's a great testament to Jason in that case, because I enjoy him with Stone. I just know that half the time when I listen to other broadcasts I either am bored to death or want to rip my eardrums out (looking mostly at Rex Hudler in KC). I hate that I can't get Mets broadcasts on MLB.TV living in NYC, because those are amazing.

For real, the fuck y'all want him to say? "Eloy is a moronic gazelle, Tony doesn't know managing, and Leury Garcia can't bat." In what universe is that useful?

I like that major broadcasters keep hiring Benetti to call games and some Sox fans are like "this guy sucks, take him away!" Benetti rocks. Happy for him that he gets more national exposure and glad the Sox have him paired with Stoney, who is a good balance with him.

Depressingly, it's still a low hurdle. - Charles Comiskey paid the players so poorly they got in with the mob. - The other Comiskeys oversaw medocrity. - The Allyns were ... eh? Didn't Arthur want to sell to Selig, who would move the the team to Milwaukee? Veeck is basically the GOAT Sox owner, with a large gap between him and pick whoever you want for second place - which is either Jerry for winning in 2005 or Charles Comiskey for bringing the team here from St. Paul.

Sanchez another single up the middle.
-
LaVine just entered COVID protocols, which is probably the nail in the coffin of the Bulls season.
-
Yolbert single up the middle.

I feel like Menechino and Katz are both smart, intelligent coaches. So the flaws must come from somewhere else ???

Part of me wants the Sox to right the ship this game. Another part of me wants Leury in the #3 spot to strikeout 3 times (despite the fact that I do appreciate Leury for what he would bring to a team in a properly utilized role) and Keuchel to get imploded, just to watch the resulting anarchy as TLR handwaves things as all going according to plan or something.

The answer to both of these is do whatever it humanly takes to sign Bruce Bochy.

This is a great way of putting it. It's a 14 game sample with amazing results, but Yolbert had a single digit walk rate last season and for MLB comparisons, only 4 players had a walk rate above 15% last year - Soto, Gallo, Harper, and Ohtani (Moncada was the highest White Sock with 13.6). If Yolbert is walking 15%+ of the time with an OPS around .850 and good defense - suddenly we're looking at All-Star Yolbert, which would be an unexpected (but very welcome) leap.
