  1. Brother, you may be on to something
  2. Lord, I see what you have done for others.
  3. Tbf everyone with a pulse is getting innings in Chicago, Crochet or not
  4. If anyone wants to see how that'd compare to other first baseman during the month of June. Basically Top 5 in everything. Now, you obviously need June Vaughn to become July Vaughn.
  5. why is this announcement such a low-res photoshop job whereas his others are all just normal pics? Like, I'm sure it's real, just so weird.
  6. s%*#, Hansen was the ultimate boom-bust guy.
  7. I have yet to see a development plan take place for hitting, so really, until proven otherwise, they don't have one.
  8. I mean, picking #10 is technically top 10, but those anti-tanking rules are hard on them. And TOR guys are prospects until they aren't, lest we forget our current closer, Giolito and Cease's peaks never overlapping, ReyLo needing to leave the org to ascend to becoming his best self as a starter, Rodon's injuries, etc. As for offense, well, we know how that went.
  9. Lotto ticket was the wrong term for him. Probably a #3 starter or bullpen guy. Regardless, when you supposedly control the market - I'm less than starstruck with that.
  10. A normal team would agree with this. The Sox? "Oh, we're not quite there yet. Thorpe's hitting arbitration, need to trade him."
  11. I think I've been the opposite of GreenSox re: trades for like 8 years now, but I'm solidly with him here. Crochet is a 1.5 years older than Thorpe. If they aren't contending with Crochet, then we'll be talking about trading Thorpe in 3 years for the same reasons. Getz supposedly controlled the market with Cease and got back his high-floor starter with Thorpe, two lotto tickets in Iriarte (who is having a good, but not great, season) and Zavala (horrendous season, but is young for his level) and a depreciating asset in Steven Wilson (WHIP's up, strikeouts are down, HR rate is up and he'll be 30 this year. Crochet will have half a season of dominant ball by this year's trade deadline + a looming innings limit - if Getz doesn't get multiple top position prospects for him...what's the point of dropping an ace other than "Jerry won't let me sign him?" And in that case, you've become the Rays/Guardians, without the ability to develop hitters.
  12. Good contract here. Drummond signing with Philly is infuriating after knowing that they were offered 3 second rounders by Philly last year for him.
  13. I didn't know what the actual definition was (I just knew it was "hit hard), but MLB has it as: "To be Barreled, a batted ball requires an exit velocity of at least 98 mph. At that speed, balls struck with a launch angle between 26-30 degrees always garner Barreled classification. For every mph over 98, the range of launch angles expands." Basically, no one is squaring up on Bummer's pitches.
  14. This is beg revisionism. Brady Aiken had massive steam spring and was touted as Kershaw-lite. Then the Astros tried to lower their agreed to deal with him. They ended up being right on medicals, but don't agree in principle to a deal then lop off 40%. Marlins fell in love Kolek's giant fastball. Rodon had a down year compared to his sophomore year, so compared to ascending high schoolers, other teams wanted new shinys.
  15. Consider this: The White Sox went from Frank to Paulie to Jose. They tried to continue it with Vaughn and it's been not great. It's cause Vaughn is a small guy. Jac is a big boy. Frank and Jose won MVPs and made the playoffs. Obviously, Paulie was crucial to 2005. This is how I would like Mike Shirley to approach the draft:
  16. Except like, instead of PowerBall it was more gas station scratch lottos.
  17. s%*#, if we can combine players then Getz might actually get a stew going
  18. Nicky Delmonico and Daniel Palka walked so they could (attempt to) run.
  19. So he's our starting RF by this time next year?
  20. Until JR does this, this is some fucking slander
  21. This is what happens when 80% of your MLB starts are caught by Martin Maldonado. It absolutely shatters your confidence.
  22. I guess we'll get to see if Pillar's return for the Angels is superior to the Sox return for Grossman (AA reliever Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa). It'll also be fun to see if/when he brings more back than Tommy Pham.
