Oh he'd be a good signing for the Sox. It'd be a bad signing for his own mental health.
-
He said worst teammate - he both clarified it in a statement and when you listen to it, you can hear it, it's just with an accent. Wednesday was also his son's birthday. His son suffers from a chronic illness that "that causes immense physical discomfort and has required regular hospital visits and multiple transplants." I don't want to see anyone dealing with that kind of stress having to deal with this dumpster fire org.

Mayo's new mock has the Sox taking Cags https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-pipeline-2024-mock-draft-may-30?partnerID=web_article-share I feel like this would become the most contentious pick in this board's history. Some (me) would be ecstatic. Others would rue it.

"JR you can sign Harper and Machado to your team on the rise that has 10 top 100 prospects, TA, Abreu and Rodon. They fill needs and will be below market value soon." JR: "Try low balling."

Objectively, this is stupid.

Remember, JR said that only Getz could get the team to its current state. -
What did I do now?

I should probably add that I appreciate the rest of this mock James, especially info on Dix, Stovall and Sirota and why they actually make sense for the Sox to draft (local, previously scouted, etc). The toolsy prep also matches your previous assessment of Shirley as a big game hunter, which has been working, so I won't complain if that's the route he takes.

While the Orioles have infinitely better prospects than Dominic Fletcher, Getz doing pitching prospect-for-hitting prospect deals scares me.
-
It also feels like it applies to outside hires for coaching. Katz had a good rep coming from the Giants and working with Giolito while outside the org. Then he gets inside the org and poof, even Giolito backslides. Then it feels like every single hitting coach produces the same flaws.

Chaos and the best logo/jersey combo in baseball.

Wondering if we can break these. -
1. Draft Jac 2. Let him pitch 3. Resurrect Colas' "Cuban Ohtani" moniker. 4. Have Jactani and Cuban Ohtani as lefty monster mashers and relievers 5. Profit??? 6. Wake up 7. Pedro has benched them for Martin Maldonado and John Brebbia

All the pundits I see are "hitting is his true ceiling, let him focus there," (especially in lieu of having had TJ) but I'm in the "f*** it, let's get weird" and let him pitch unless he starts to fail/it hinders his hitting. Here's his pipeline grades. It feels too good to be true: Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 70 | Run: 40 | Arm: 60 | Field: 55 | Overall: 65 Scouting grades: Fastball: 70 | Slider: 50 | Cutter: 50 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 40 | Overall: 50

Especially cause, once you accounted for defense, he was one of the Sox most valuable players. But computers know jack s%*#.

Cags might have a higher ceiling. While Cags has 40 less at-bats, he has more hits, a higher OPS, more total bases. Kurtz has a higher strikeout rate if my napkin math is remotely correct (and to be fair, walk rate).

Counter point: Giant man hits giant bombs.

James wants to give me a heart attack by having the Sox pass on Jac and Hagen. But also, taking a prep player does make sense. I'd just be devastated passing on either of those two.

I was about to feel really smart and say "what about a garden?", thinking about how so many variables - controllable and not - can determine whether or not plants in my garden grow. Last year we skipped planting tomatoes and one appeared anyway. Then I remembered that it's called a farm system for a reason.

I now know that Southpaw's hat is a separate part of his costume and I don't know how to handle that information.

It was like, "go Andrew! Stay alive!" while also thinking "how have you not launched one by now???"

Vaughn just had a great at-bat and it ended in a slow roller to short.
