This is the funniest thread bump of all time -
Francona actually started in 1991. He won MoY in the Southern League in '93. Managed Jordan and the media circus. He left in 1996 to be the Tigers 3rd base coach. But that means the Sox passed on him when they fired Lamont. Like how Dombrowski should have been GM instead of Hawk.
