  1. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 10:18 PM) Everyone should rush the floor every game. It's fun. Bonus points for a strong "overrated" chant while doing so. I'll forever be mad after the last Mizzou-Kansas game that we didn't storm the court. The players ran over and stopped the student section because they said it was a bigger "f*** you" to Kansas to not storm. I'm surprised we listened to them.
  2. Also, the Rays' windsail stadium design would have been awesome.
  3. QUOTE (southside_hitman @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 10:28 PM) Yes indeed, the truth hurts and just to make things worse, Ricketts is now going to spend 300 Million on Wrigley. He is doing that because he realizes that Wrigley in itself draws fans even when the Cubs suk, which is more often than not. Reinsdorf also knows that Sox fans come out even less when the team isn't winning. Here are some suggestions I have for possible improvements to the stadium and surrounding area. Tail gating is something Chicago fans love and something that the Wrigley will never offer. I would like to see the concrete wall to the East of the South parking lot covered with ivy. Perhaps the driveway could be moved in so that area is expanded for picnic tables and perhaps some outdoor concessions. As far as the housing to the East of the South parking, perhaps that could be acquired in some joint deal with a developer to place some mixed use residential/commercial project. Inside the Park I would like some changes but realize the money for most of them is just not there. The scoreboard is fine except I would remove the spinning twirly birds. They harken back to the Veeck era and the circus atmosphere he always wanted to create. Next I would minimize the modern look of the exposed tubular pipe trusses in the outfield. Perhaps some steel sheets could be welded to make them look solid, or they could be bricked up to a point.Compare the steel work supporting the lights at Wrigley. The outfield wall is another feature that looks like foam pads covering a chain link fence. It would be nice if that were made permanent with masonry split arched openings echoing the shape of those from the original park and foam padding only extended up 7 feet. If there was ever a larger pool of money I would like to see the Right field grandstand pictured in one of the links here. I always liked sitting in the upper tank at the old park and there are no views in the new park that are comparable. You keep the twirly birds. Right field granstand would be awesome.
  4. QUOTE (YASNY @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 01:19 AM) I agree. It's now a beautiful ballpark. Still, that skyline beyond the outfield would have been wonderful. It's the one flaw. Wasn't it because they wanted to keep the same mailing address or some s***?
  5. With the current renovations The Cell is wonderful. Also, I know there are a lot statues, but they add a nice touch as well.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 03:07 PM) For the second time, they were already engaged previously. I actually didn't have a problem with it, because I know a lot of couples that know they're getting married before the question so they don't care as much about it. Just funny that ESPN had to pry into his life and GO "OMG LOOK AT DAT BUM CULTER"
  7. Cutler proposed via text and sent his fiancee the ring in the mail.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 11:57 AM) I'm sure you won't get far with that, considering Mizzou lost to LSU last week. Yeah, but I expect to get my hopes dashed. And BPI is a b****.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 08:28 AM) I don't believe god exists. Feel free to point to any study showing otherwise.
  10. All I know is my KU friends that keep bringing up Norfolk State are going to get hell for the next few days.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 07:58 PM) Kings officially have filed to move to Seattle with the league. And now another storied franchise hangs in limbo. My guess is in the next 10 years, Kansas City and Sacramento will get teams.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 5, 2013 -> 09:51 PM) sorry to hear about the injury/glad to hear it's still working out This. Sucks to hear about the injury man.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 5, 2013 -> 07:49 AM) SO it's 1 out of 180 per year? So over say, a 45 year period known as a lifetime...the average comes down to 1 in 4? While I'm greatly impressed by those numbers (good job GLtI), I can't help but think... ...I really wish it was 1 in 300,000,000.
  14. QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 10:15 PM) Compared to the the decent gun owners like myself, AD and Jenksb****, the bad gun owners are rare. I crunched some statistics last night and it comes out to roughly 280 of us for every one of them (I'm talking about violent criminals, not idiots who put holes in their own hat bills). But would you say crime is rare? I don't know how to better explain that paradox there. There are a lot of good gun owners for every whacko (armed or unarmed, I might add), but that whacko still exists. And I've said time and time again that my guns are a defense against unlikely situation, and not ones that lurk around every corner. I still don't want to be unprepared should that situation arise. And this doesn't even get into what I think is the real reason for 2A, which has already been discussed here. Can I see these numbers?
  15. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 08:16 PM) Bulls got badly hosed on an out of bounds call there That was horses***.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 2, 2013 -> 07:55 AM) Nothing as a moderator prevents me from saying this... You contribute absolutely nothing to this site. You started a thread about adding Alex Rodriguez to the White Sox at some point in time in the next 2 years, and then admitted wanting nothing to do with it WHEN YOU STARTED THE THREAD IN THE FIRST PLACE. When called on it, you said NOTHING Yet, whenever anybody says anything pessimistic or, really, anything that goes against the mold, you are right there there with your {redacted} interjections. I was only recently "promoted" to moderator status, but that does not dissuade me disliking someone. I dislike you. In fact, I hate when you post. Anything you post brings the mood of the board down. That's all Drunk wite at 7:55 AM? That's generally when we see these awesome rants of yours.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 08:37 AM) I loved the 87 look. The script White Sox and script C hat are still one of my favs. Whenever I wear that hat people think it's a Cubs hat and I want to smack them.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 11:37 AM) Ease Rankings are calculated by comparing opponent production data with their season averages, and are not simply a straight team-by-team comparison. For this reason, a larger statistical number does not automatically equate with a larger Ease number. All values are assigned by way of z-scores Moral of the story? It sucks to play against the Bulls. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/schedule-anal...TGgohd9Gvm5bZ8u I like
  19. I hope next year is the '59 or '87 jerseys. I also want the vests to make a comeback. Those were sick.
  20. Just got home. How many SOXOBAMA jokes have been made?
