But also a reminder that Chuck fucking gaslights us, because if Merrifield signs here and predictably sucks, Chuck we'll go "why didn't the Sox sign a real second baseman," a la his hype of Hanser, Harrison and "EDWIN FREAKIN' ENCARNACION."

We're clearing space for Ohtani.

Also, Rogers Communications would probably start offering a Japanese broadcast.

Yamamoto's landing spot suddenly becomes fascinating. If he lands in NY - especially the Yankees - suddenly Cease becomes a very, very hot commodity.

"...and with the #10 pick."

But also, it means a certain team in Balitmore needs to bolster its rotation: Dylan Cease has a record of 1-0 with an ERA of 0.69 and 18 strikeouts in 2 appearances against the Blue Jays in his career. (ignore his numbers against Ohtani)

Cameron Maybin: Yankees facial hair rule deters free agents
Quin replied to Quin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I honestly just want a player that grows intense five o'clock shadow to wake up late for a crucial game and watch Boone have to explain why he sat them. -

They were praised! And now they've done a horrendous job and instead of trying to fix over the past few years, they've been like KW/Hahn in their stubborness in standing pat with their team that gets injured and has bad fit. They should have blown it up last year when players had value and they could have tried to keep their own draft pick, but they had to make a push for .500 and the 8th seed. -
Poutine fucking slaps. But also Toronto has the big purse in MLB.

I mean, if the rule of thumb is that son = inverse of father...? But also AKME's failure is a better argument. -

The fun thing is you can't even argue in favor of a clean, traditional look anymore since they're one of the teams with a jersey sponsor. Maybe if they had gone with Gillette or Barbasol, sure. -
White Sox anxiously wondering if he'll take a contract offer of 1 year/$25M along with Bulls season tickets and a Vienna hot dog.

An impossible notion for Jerry to grasp.

Is this worth its own thread? Not really, but I want to see how people respond.

David Rubenstein Reportedly In Talks To Acquire Orioles
Quin replied to Bob Sacamano's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Angelos deciding he'd rather sell than spend money/face backlash about not spending money. So...Angelos is good? -
Except Vegas, where the team needs the people that are already visiting the area and not the other way around ... which makes it more baffling.

TL;DR - no reason to make this signing unless the Reds are trading some of them
-
Considering the Reds have De La Cruz, Marte, Encarnacion-Strand, McLain, India, and Barrero - you have to imagine someone is getting dangled as a trade piece. Obvious candidate is India, but still feels worth noting.

Yeah, this is the main reason the Orioles basically need to unload prospects that aren't named Jackson Holliday. They have young guys succeeding at the major league level blocking AAA prospects. They need major league pitching. They run the risk of those AAA prospects losing value as they get older / could begin to show flaws. The Yankees are flexing, the Red Sox also have a stacked system, the Rays are the Rays, and the Blue Jays have fat wads of cash. If the Orioles aren't gonna spend, they can't prospect hug unless they're convinced Hall and Cowser are gonna be aces.
