  1. It's so interesting to create a team identity of old guys with no offensive upside that rely on their reputations as good defenders.
  2. This is the funniest aspect of it all. Tearing it down to studs for to gain...what? Tim Hill, Martin Maldonado and Chris Flexen?
  3. I was told that with Rick Hahn we were done trying to collect overhyped, failed-in-the-majors prospects like they're infinity stones.
  4. They started off so strong and have since sat on their hands. The Knicks were reportedly offering a good amount of LaVine last year. We know DDR and Caruso had good offers. Vuc - as an expiring - probably could have pulled a second. They should have swallowed their pride, done a big sell off and traded LaVine, DDR and Vuc at minimum and Caruso if the offer was right. Build around the young guys they had and then try to improve in the draft and the sudden new found cap-space. Instead it's just run it back for the 5th time with depreciating assets.
  5. The new stadium would be right around the corner from Manny's, a Binny's and a Portillo's, roughly a 10-15 minute walk. These are all big wins.
  6. That's the buy and sell price. I know there's cost associated with running the team, but think of the annual earnings + influence that come with owning a Big Four sports franchise
  7. Please god, just let Steve Cohen get wide-eyed
  8. This is the thinking that is what leads people to writing off Coby White, Lauri, Ayo and Wendell Carter early in their careers. You could even argue Jimmy was in that group, but he had a lot more leeway as a roleplayer until he blew up in year four. If you're calling a player a bust after one partial season of minor league ball in their draft year, you shouldn't bother following prospects because you just want instant gratification.
  9. Gonzalez hasn't even played an entire season of minor league ball, so calling him a bust this early would be premature and ridiculous. You can say it was a bad pick because of his profile - slow running shortstop who wasn't hitting for a lot of power in his cup of coffee post draft (which, as James has pointed out, is a grain of salt) and because you had toolsy players like Arjun Nimmala and Enrique Bradfield on the board on the time. But if he comes out the gate roaring to start 2024, suddenly all bust labels are going to start being shed. It's like saying Jake Burger was a bad pick at the time given his profile. You could have definitely said a bust after a few years. But now the bust moniker is silly.
  10. People that pay $8/month for a blue checkmark
  11. Not great, but not terrible: .268/.348/.366/.714 With good sample sizes, Yoan actually mashes at Target Field, Comerica and the Coliseum.
  12. Eloy Jimenez career stats at T-Mobile: .361/.395/.667/1.061 It's a nine game sample size, but whatever, I'm going to say that it makes sense.
  13. But what about guys like Joseph Ortiz???
  14. Caulfield, I appreciate the thinking outside the box, this ain't it.

  16. Notable truth teller John Fischer also said he'd build a "100 percent" privately funded stadium in Oakland, with renderings, in 2018. https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/matier-ross/article/A-s-propose-jewel-box-ballpark-for-13426272.php
  17. Why do you keep fluffing the A's when we don't have their stadium info or funding plan? It's tough with blue checkmarks meaning nothing anymore, but Merkin follows this account: They might not even have their proposed site anymore.
