QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 15, 2012 -> 03:56 PM) Are the CougarLife banner ads really bringing in a lot of business from the Soxtalk population?? Blame caulfield.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 15, 2012 -> 09:56 AM) Soxtalk was wrong about Adrian Gonzalez and got slapped down for it by Cowley. So what? The grudge that is being held for it on here is really entertaining to watch, but doesn't reflect well on those involved. He personally attacked Jason then showed a complete lack of class when he e-mailed him saying it was uncalled for. The grudge is because Cowley is the lowest class of journalist out there and broke 1001 and ethics codes to fluff his own fragile ego, then cemented his position as a complete jackass by trying to make himself seem witty with often used metaphors and by proclaiming he wrote an e-mail all by himself. Woop-de-f***ing-do. The one piece he ever wrote all by himself and did need an editor for was a steaming pile of s***.

So, watching E:60. It had Ray Rice's childhood, where his father was mistakenly killed in a drive by when he was one. His father-figure cousin was killed by a drunk driver when he was 11. His mom taught special education to afford to raise 4 kids. He learned football on a courtyard pavement. It has Patrick Willis, who "would kill for Michael Oher's upbrining." His mother abandoned him, two brothers, and a sister to an abusive, drug using father. He stood up to him and got told he would be killed. Didn't have electricity, running water, worked in a cotton field, his brother drowned, he played through terrible injuries. Finally his basketball coach took him and his three siblings in as a foster home. Ends with Arian Foster, who got told he couldn't succeed throughout grade, middle, and high school. Went undrafted. Played on a practice squad for a year. Finally made it. Is one of the most intelligent and well-spoken players in the NFL in my opinion. Then that motherf***er comes on the TV in an FRS commercial. "They said I couldn't be a high school quarterback." He was a home-schooled boy who got to play for a team instead of kids that went to class each day. He was recruited in the area and moved just to be a QB, because that's what he wanted. Not his team, which ran. "They said I couldn't get a D1 scholarship. You're not good enough, you're not strong enough, you're not skilled enough." He was the 3rd QB prospect in the country. "They said I couldn't win a Heisman." No sophomore had ever won it, it wasn't an indictment of him. When he was the favorite, he failed. "They said I couldn't win a National Championship." He was on a favorite contender the year he had to lead the team. "They said I wouldn't be a first round draft pick." Ok, I'll give him that. But the guy who fell in love with him got fired. "They said I couldn't play in the league." He's not a good player. "Appreciate that." I literally felt sick to my stomach. Here's a guy who has had everything handed to him in his football career; was recruited in High School, a top QB recruit, national favorite for Heisman and champion, got overdrafted, etc. when he comes off as a meathead in his interviews. It makes me so mad. Willis had a horrendous life, Rice's two father figures were killed, Foster actually was told he couldn't. And Tim f***ing Tebow. I hope the 49ers play the Broncos next year so Willis can demolish him. -

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 10:53 PM) 3rd and 10 for the patriots at their own 42 (roughly 3 min left). belichick calls timeout (an interesting decision given they were up 35) starters inexplicably still in. Brady in shotgun....and he punts the ball. Von miller took exception and hit/pushed an O lineman on the side/back after the whistle....from then a couple brouhahas break out and broncos correctly get flagged for unnecessary roughness I find this both insulting and hilarious. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) @JeffGurt Bulls are the first team to hold opponents under 70 points in three straight home games since the invention of the shot clock. Of the five teams they've played at home (Grizzlies, Hawks, Pistons, Wizards, and Raptors) only one has made it over 70 points and it was the Hawks with 74.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 08:26 PM) I'm sure that Cowley will be sticking up for Ozzie soon and bashing Peavy. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 09:40 PM) Peavy is 110% talk.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 02:59 PM) The Rams had a huge problem coming into this season, as they were paying big time money to both Jake Long and Sam Bradford, from being top draft picks under the old CBA. The money those 2 were getting put the Rams right up against the Salary Cap last offseason. Normally you'd think that a young team tends to be well under the cap, but the old CBA/Draft salaries were so screwed up that the Rams were an incredibly expensive young team. They had no room to actually add anything of substance in free agency last year, and they probably couldn't even hold onto their own guys. Throw in an injury or two and an improved division, and you've got a recipe for disaster. This year the Rams ought to be in much better shape, they're another year down the path of both of those contracts and the salary cap should be going up. Plus, they have another top pick, but a top pick that won't break the bank. They ought to be in a position to actually add depth and useful pieces this year, even if they can't go all-in on someone like the Bears can/should. That ought to make them a whole lot more competitive next year. Jake Long is a Dolphin...? -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 04:24 PM) After reading Rogers' article, it seems like the Chicago media is sick of the Sox like many of the fans. My guess is most people believe Kenny has jumped the shark and like me, think the wrong guy won the war between KW and Ozzie. Sox are going to have to prove a lot on the field and in acquiring good players in the next 2-3 years. I would think only the true die-hard fans would buy tickets to see the Dunn/Rios White Sox. Oh my god Greg.. We're talking about a guy who includes non-teams in his power rankings. Like, literally one of the worst writers out there.

I should point out that I think very lowly of the Knicks and the Magic as I believe Howard will check out (tonight's foul-o-rama aside) while the Nuggets and Trail Blazers are built like the Bulls; deep team, just they have no superstar.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) I can see why some would be upset. As a darkie myself, I imagine he was just messing around. I've got Mexican friends and whenever we go out to get some quick grub they joke that I probably want to go to KFC or Popeyes. Because black people=fried chicken. Oh, me and my friends joke about stuff like that too, but the banana chips to make him "not be a savage" coupled with the Obama thing just makes me think Scott is a racist.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 08:10 PM) Even if it was, Luke Scott is an idiot. I believe he also threw banana chips at Felix Pie. What he's done and said just makes him look like a racist southern hick. 90% this, 10% Obama thing.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Which teams from the West if moved to the East would you pick over the Heat or Bulls? That was not at all what he was saying. Powers East: Bulls, Heat West: Thunder Second Tier Contenders (Could beat powers) East: Celtics (built for playoffs) West: Lakers, Spurs, Trail Blazers, Nuggets, Clippers, Mavericks Spurs only if Manu comes back ready to gun. Third Tier Contenders (Massive upset if they beat power) East: Magic, Knicks, Pacers, 76ers, Hawks West: Grizzlies Can't contend, but can make playoffs/.500 record East: West: Jazz, Suns Bad East: Nets, Raptors, Cavaliers, Bucks, Pistons, Bobcats, Wizards West: Timberwolves, Kings, Warriors, Rockets, Hornets Timberwolves could move up a spot.
