QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 06:54 PM) Now they are saying it could be 20 victims. Wow. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 07:33 PM) knowing how long he worked for the Second Mile foundation and all the access to kids he had, it seems like a small number. Sandusky also lives 1000 feet from a childrens school This is so very terrible.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 06:34 AM) last night when the ESPN crew were making their picks, they were all laughing at Ditka for picking the Bears. Cris Carter says, "The Eagles have Asomugha, watch out Cutler". Whatever, Asomugha was irrelevant for the entire game Again, my roommate thinks they are Super Bowl bound. -

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Nov 7, 2011 -> 11:32 PM) More than that. The NFC is very strong this year. Related note: if the season ends today the NFC North and AFC North would both send 3 teams to the playoffs. The North's are dominant. According to him, only the Packers can stop them. Man, he bought into preseason hype. -

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Nov 7, 2011 -> 11:23 PM) The Eagles have to win out to get to 11 wins, which will probably be the requirement for an NFC playoff berth this year. My roommate keeps saying they'll win the Super Bowl. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 7, 2011 -> 11:18 PM) I've never seen this before. He did a hell of a job evading linemen today. Earl Bennett also showed the other Bears wideouts what a good receiver looks like. Roy Williams has hands of freaking steel. He should have had a monster game today with the opportunities he had to catch deep passes. He did some ninja s*** to avoid sacks. That flip to Barber was jaw dropping. And the O-Line looked competent, even without Carimi. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) Really? I thought our rise coincided with having Chase Daniel QBing a team that included three first round picks (Jeremy Maclin, Sean Weatherspoon and Ziggy Hood). Last year's 10-win team had two first round picks as well (Gabbert, Aldon Smith). Mizzou has had talent. It's not smoke and mirrors and a weak division. I have my doubts about Franklin, but that's a first year QB for ya. You gotta cut him some slack in the future. Gabbert had his moments and each of the last two successful QBs lost 5 games in their first year starting so it's not unheard of. It's just his composure in the pocket. He looks like he gets the ball and is like "cool, football...do I need to do something...uh...do I throw it? s***...important...OH GOD A BIG GUY COMING TO TACKLE ME." He doesn't look scared or nervous, he looks like he gives no f***s. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 09:13 PM) We'll be better next year. It's tough to be competitive with a first year QB. You gotta keep the faith. Missouri has 3 10 win seasons in the past 4. They've been a top 15-20 program for a while now so it's not like they're below average in SEC football. Heck, the Big 12 is better than the SEC this year anyway. James Franklin won't lead us anywhere. He looks too calm in the pocket and has a knack for momentum killing INT's. Terrible acceleration for a "dual-threat" quarterback. Maybe it's mental, but he's instilling a Good Rex/Bad Rex-esque worry in me. Also, the secondary is just bad. I do think Mauk will be a good improvement as a QB if he can beat Franklin for the spot, but Missouri needs Dorial Green-Beckham to commit to them and not anywhere else to have a hope. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 07:11 PM) Dude seriously? f*** kansas. We're leaving them behind for a mid major league once the Big 12 finishes imploding. Also, do you realize that Waco, Lubbock, College Station and Austin are about as far away as Athens, Baton Rouge and Auburn? South Carolina and Florida are farther, but with Nebraska (and Colorado who wasn't closer either) gone the number of fairly close schools in the conference is about the same. Plus, who wouldn't want to travel to SEC football games? I really looked forward to KU Basketball... It's just annoying. No rivalry now unless we're counting A&M, who is apparently our main rival now. Plus, we're in the Eastern Division, so that means more games farther out by SC and Florida. Also, I just think we'll get walloped for the next few years in football, which since that's when I'm here, not exactly a fan of. I mean yes, better conference, but that's about it. And I don't think we'll be towards the top of it. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 05:31 PM) Again, it's not all Texas' fault, but I do hate the destruction of rivalries. Ok, Texas, Colorado, and Nebraska all have a lot of blame. But Texas could have stopped it if they hadn't just started started looking to the Pac-12 or the SEC earlier this year. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 04:32 PM) I don't think it's possible to write a statement that better summarizes how screwed up this conference realignment thing is. 2 schools in the middle of the country, harry potter reference, dislike at the South, and a curse placed upon Texas. I'd have lived a happier life if I'd never heard anything about conference realignment. Not kidding about Quidditch. Currently talking with some KU Quidditch players and we're all pissed. We've decided that if the IQA goes through with their plans for a full season, we're staying in the f***ing Big 12/Midwest because we're poor and have to drive still. Seriously, no rivalries now. I f***ing hate this. We don't have the SEC Football culture. This is all Texas' fault. Not going to drive my ass to any away games now. f*** that. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) Have fun in the SEC, Mizzou. I hate this move so much. My quidditch team is the last remaining Mizzou-KU rivalry, because Kansas doesn't want to continue it if we're not in our conference that we've been in for 104 years. And I hate the SEC. f***ing Texas. -
QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 06:10 AM) Do what you want. Point to the wackos at Occupy protests and say that's the real movement and pick out the best tea party types and say that's the true tea party. That is really easy because it fits your political beliefs and view of the world. I try to apply the same to both. I ignore the ignorant and publicity seekers in both groups.
-
QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 09:36 PM) Who is in charge of any movement like this? Who is there to denounce them? OK, I denounce them! You denounced them, so I guess people are denouncing them. Where there are crowds, there are idiots. This movement in particular attracts some really idiots. And those are the ones making headlines because they are committing crimes. There are people cooping this for their own agendas. I can sit here and match you post for post where people in outstanding organizations do some pretty despicable things. That doesn't mean every soldier, cop, teacher, tea partier, etc are bad. There are many more Americans who agree with some of the protesters who can't be at the protests. I'm talking about the protest back in my hometown, it's a small town Occupy protest. They are idiots. And I said they unfairly color my opinion of the movement as a whole and that I don't believe the majority, or even close, apply to that stigma. Tex, I like you and generally agree with you, but read those points man.

QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 08:22 PM) Well, anger aside, that's my foremost thought on these protests. The base complaint is valid (although sometimes misdirected), the proposed solutions aren't, and a lot of the behavior is completely dishonorable. And this leaves me as no big fan of these guys. Back in my hometown, it's been organized by; an ex-con who is mad that he can't get a job because of that, a kid that sat next to me in 4th grade in the honors program who dropped out of high school, and a high school junior pot-head, who, while a nice kid, knows nothing about how society is run. When they endorsed dropping a government and going with self governance and couldn't fathom how that doesn't work. The dropout said he was going to "attack the politicians son but dont want to hurt his feelings u can thk me l8r." I went into a rant about how forming a sentence is a better step. Also, school board members are now politicians? It's amazing the people they get...dropouts, stoners, and people who just do s*** to rebel. And I'm not generalizing...I went to school with an overwhelming majority of them. Not saying that all of the protests are like that, I doubt many are. But it's hard to say that they haven't colored my vision of the whole movement.
-
QUOTE (Cali @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) Also, just looking at the lists linked, there are some non-human villains in there like the shark from Jaws, the Alien from Alien etc. Are we counting monster like villains as well? I doubt half the guys from my list make it. It's such a wide spectrum to choose from.
-
QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 08:37 PM) They can go out there and protest all they want. But they can't demand any of my hard earned wealth while not contributing on their own. I've seen enough of this protest to know a large majority of them are just the "have nots" being pissy at the "haves". If they left it at simply ending corporate welfare, I'm game. After all, that's true capitalism! Let the good businesses win and the bad ones fail. I'm down with that. But they are carrying a lot of baggage, ranging from ideas that I will never agree with to actions that I despise. And for those reasons, I will never join them. This. QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) You haven't figured out that's sort of my whole schtick by now?
-
QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) Maybe it's just poor syntax on your part, but the 5th Stryker Brigade has roughly 4,000 Soldiers. And what, five of them, turned out to be murderous douchebags? Anyway, yeah, f*** them. They're not Soldiers and I'd gladly be the executioner for all of them. And for Calley. I don't know anything about the last three, but if they're anything like the first two examples, then f*** them too. I'll denounce the s*** out of people who disgrace the uniform. I wear this uniform with pride and I have no tolerance for people who would use it as a way to murder innocent people. Let the Taliban and the Palestinians celebrate murder and terrorism from those within their ranks; let us punish it when we find it amongst us. It just shows who's superior here. So that's just it. Where are the denouncements from OWS' main camp about the riots in Oakland and the idiocy in DC last night and the drug use and the rapes? If nobody denounces it and says that's not what they're about, how am I supposed to know that there are indeed good people in the movement? They risk being judged by their craziest elements. And so far, to be honest, I haven't seen a protester who does come across as sensible or reasonable or even likeable. Even the ones who aren't simply vulgar and clownish come off as tragically uninformed. I've agreed with some of your points in this thread, but you are very, very angry.
