  1. QUOTE (Soha @ Sep 24, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) I'm the opposite. The rebuild has re-energized me. I've watched more Sox games this year than I have in 7 or 8 years at least. The least interesting thing in sports for me is a team that is treading in mediocrity for 5-10 years. That the Sox have finally pulled themselves out of that has been so fun. Yep. The current team is kinda likeable. Abreau seems to have improved in fielding. Like that Avi is having a good season. Something I have noticed is this team is really fast. There's a lot of team speed. I still don't like the pen. If you're a Blackhawk fan you always have something to look forward too. I don't care for basketball and I'm starting to like hockey even more.
  2. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 03:55 PM) It means FINALLY not being friggin Africa-hot out here!!!! Agree with ya about football...I really find myself just not caring more and more with each passing season. People bag on baseball for being boring...but good lord...go to a football game and count the minutes you're sitting there with your thumb up your arse waiting for either the tv timeouts to be over....and another mindless review. It's gotten unbearable honestly. Baseball is...and will always be the best sport in my mind. This offseason is a little different in terms of the Sox...the major deals are already done (for the most part)...sign a few bullpen pieces...and wait for spring. I don't want to wish it away...because like Jimmy said...I'm at the opposite end...when baseball starts it means Africa-hot isn't too far off. Personally...I'm so ready to move out of this oven!!! Wish I could be a snowbird lol. Ever been to any of the fall league games? Far more comfortable than even spring training. We went to one ST night game in Surprize this year and it was nice out. Glendale just seems uncomfortable during the day.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox1917 @ Sep 24, 2017 -> 06:04 PM) If they can get a top 50 prospect for him, would rather trade him this offseason They wont though.
  4. Well the possibility of losing 100 game went out the door.
  5. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 24, 2017 -> 04:42 PM) I hope your right. I wonder if Hahn still feels the same in regards to Avi and Abreu. I still don't get Abreu batting before Avi. It should be the other way around. BTW have to Sox owned the Royals this season?
  6. There's always this sadness when White Sox baseball in on break. I don't know why but when some of the veterans were traded I liked this team more (except the bullpen) Maybe it's easier to accept the performances of the inexperienced players than some of the not so productive veterans. I admit I hate seeing Sale in another uniform. As of late I enjoyed watching this lineup. Maybe next season I will pay attention more to what's happening in the minors. I say that every year but it seems it more stocked and probably more interesting. At least this season there were no high expectations by getting a Todd Frazier only to be disappointed. Sometimes sports is a lot more enjoyable when less emotion is involved. I really enjoyed a younger team and knowing some will make some boneheaded mistakes. The offseason will be interesting if the direction is to try to get value by stocking the farm some more or keep a player or two for building blocks. I don't see them making acquisitions for the now. The offseason may be boring. I will miss the season but I will have the Fall League to look forward. Has anyone toward the end of the season always have a regret they didn't spend more time watching baseball. In 40 years I went from a football junkie to rarely ever watching an NFL game. I just don't watch it anymore. It's become boring for me while so many say baseball is boring. One of the coolest things ever is I met this grade school kid where the parents fork over $100 a month for the kid to play baseball. Baseball in some way or another is played year round here. I might have to go watch some kids.
  7. I think this is the hardest position to fill in baseball. How are the younger guys doing in the farm system?
  8. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 09:57 AM) He never breaks character In defense of Greg he tends to be quite civil and doesn't insult anyone. Most often passionate fans see things quite differently. He's not a troll. To label him a troll means he doesn't fit the Sox Talk Borg Collective and I'm not sure how that benefits this site. I do read all of his posts and the angst towards him is difference of opinion and his reactions are not hostile toward any member. So yes in he never breaks character but he shows character in dealing with responses.
  9. Not sure this is the way to go but it seems so "White Sox". I'd rather have someone who learned the ropes from one of the better managers in baseball. I think what Ozzie failed to learn that in modern day sports is to be the smallest voice on the team outside of the game.
  10. QUOTE (Tony @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 10:32 PM) By "this board", do you mean rational adults who are not wowed by 26 HRs and instead see a terribly flawed baseball player that currently boasts a .222 AVG, .264 OBP, .716 OPS, -0.7 WAR, lackluster defense and mediocre minor league numbers? Please, get started. Ha ha. Wasn't this guy turning out to be a total bust in the minors? At least they got some production out of him. Wasn't this one of those bad player for bad player trades?
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 10:55 PM) 26 home runs in his first season? And he still hasn't had that many at bats. I happen to love what he's done. If he somehow got to 30 I'd hoist a Miller Lite for him. 30 frickin homers in part time duty basically. It's so weird how different I am philosophy wise than most posters on this board. I guess it's old school eye test guy vs. modern advanced statniks. Could be the 2nd coming of Josh Fields.
  12. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 01:40 PM) If he plays out his contract, or even most of it, his career average will drop below .300 and his OPS may drop into the .800's. Crazy after how good he was the majority of his career. Crazy how bad that contract is.
  13. Hawk is so much better with Wimpy. I tuned in just for that.
  14. Sometimes the consequence of overmanaging..........
  15. Does the righty vs righty even matter anymore?
  16. This Gioloto guy is impressive so far.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 12, 2017 -> 11:21 AM) This reminds me of the Sox in 2005. The fade is occurring at about the same time. They will get the ship righted and start sailing soon. The Indians are hot, and that is great for them, but cooling off is going to happen. Same here. They may be getting hot at the wrong time.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 06:53 PM) Don't think we'll compete for a WC but do think we'll be better than expected. I could see us winning 75-81 games. I think if they are floating around the .500 mark you will see a boost in attendance.
  19. Whatever happened to "no we're not bringing this guy up this season"? I think maybe our expectations are not realistic. Some guys look great when there is a lot of talent around them.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 12:59 PM) I'll give Holland credit for taking the ball and not making excuses. Wish him well. He has like $6M credited to his account, can't see any player that bad making excuses.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 09:02 PM) Another bad September start... They should have left him in. Addison Reed didn't help much.
  22. No wonder these guys are striking out. Look at that shade.
  23. Nice job by the staff today as long as your name isn't Holland.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 02:35 PM) Ha Holland is special Coop'll fix him!
