  1. He's one of those guys you don't fire unless there is definitely someone better.
  2. QUOTE (Insp @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 09:14 PM) Why did they drop Holland when he was doing so well and the bullpen is so dangerous? Pen has been scoreless for 6 innings. Maybe the are fooling Rick.
  3. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 09:24 PM) Who was better between those two guys? I say Fisk. Munson for me in the short time he played. .333 lifetime avg. with RISP. I think his last game he played was at Comiskey Park. I was there. Fisk was a freak of nature and his better years was in Chicago. You wont see anyone like that. If you do in the American league they will make them play 1B. There was Simmons, Bench, Fisk, and Munson, all household names. It isn't like that any more.
  4. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 10:04 PM) I'm all on the Tank Train but it's great to see Anderson (who I am admittedly big on) and Moncada come up huge for the team. I have no issue with losses due to being young players. Last night was a good example. I can't tolerate when anyone on the pitching staff goes into batting practice mode.
  5. Did mention the pen did a good job? That was like 6 scoreless innings.
  6. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 09:25 PM) Bring Ozzie Guillen back! After that previous inning there is no way I can take that as sarcasm.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 09:16 PM) You don't like playing for one run with this amazing bullpen? I would have rather seen Bummer serve some up than that mess. Note to Hahn: When team is a serious contender get serious about getting a manager.
  8. Am I the only one that just witnessed some really stupid baseball and also a lesson not learned from yesterday?
  9. The Twin are really creep up on CLE. Of course any team in a race will benefit playing the Sox.
  10. I think this is the hardest position to fill in baseball. Will we ever see another Munson or Fisk?
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) We have seen around MLB that the market for guys who can JUST hit isn't there anymore, even if they are still pretty solid hitters. I am sure that there just isn't anyone offering a lot for Jose Abreu, and because of that the Sox feel he is better served as a leader and mentor. If they were offered a big return for him, he'd be gone too 1B/DH won't get any value from the NL as far as prospects.
  12. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 11:50 AM) I don't think the argument is good vs. bad. I think it's solid aging DH vs. elite piece we could trade for a huge return. I think that would have happened by now. I have no problem with keeping him for the rebuild.
  13. How did Soto go from ROY to this?
  14. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 06:36 PM) because it was in a newspaper(and website) Not really a valid answer isn't it? Someone in the media got bored or needed attention.
  15. 1st time I watched where the pen did not give up a run.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 07:50 PM) Damn. Funny how quickly an outing can turn. After two wasted innings the wheels were going to come off somehow.
  17. OK let's ruin this inning with a bunt.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 06:51 PM) Meanwhile I like what I'm seeing from Giolito The Twins lineup disagrees.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 11:34 PM) I love all the excuses for the Sox. He was rushed. We should have lost 2 more games so we could have taken who we really wanted. How bout the fact our system does not develop players??? I'd prefer keeping Carson on the big league team the rest of the year just to work with Cooper. Cooper who is arguably the BEST pitching coach can watch him, assess him and tell him what the f*** he needs to do in the offseason to reach his potential. No minor league coach can help Fulmer. It's Cooper and Cooper is the BIG LEAGUE pitching instructor. Cmon Sox ... don't send the kid back down. Have Cooper work with him for gawd sakes. Great post Greg! I do wonder if maybe guys are being brought up too soon and also afraid to send them back down for a week or two.
  20. I see Avi still hittin now at .314. It's odd to see them win a game 3-2. The way the lineup is producing it doesn't have that stink of a rebuild. The pen has no shortage of mental midgets.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 19, 2017 -> 10:11 PM) https://sports.yahoo.com/byron-buxton-shows...-192913367.html This Buxton inside the park hr is tons more exciting than all the action after the first...Twins and Angels tied for second wild card, btw. Guess we will see if Moncada can top it...definitely won't be at Guaranteed Rate unless the fielder goes down like Mazara on the Delmonico bid. Those teams are barely over .500 as well.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2017 -> 09:19 PM) This is embarrassing. I'm asking myself why I'm still watching.
