  1. I really don't understand the fascination with someone who is not good at a sport. Might as well ask the Kardasians too.
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 08:16 PM) There was outrage at the time for a reason. I don't think Lip or Thad are off base at all. I am constantly amazed when a poster like Thad is given s*** for what he believes when most of his facts about being a losing organization are correct. Thad didn't start this thread but he has a right to voice his opinion even if we all know his opinion already. He admitted that adding players might have helped or might not have helped but giving up when that close should not be an option. All we as fans want is to know the front office wants to win and will fight to win. White Flag implies surrender and that's exactly what it was. Great post! This wasn't too far removed from the season that wasn't. Emotions were high among the fanbase and I think the organization had a different climate to it. Funny how people still get heated over this debate.
  3. QUOTE (Soxnfins @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 09:14 PM) Over/under 32 HR & 80 RBI for Davidson this year? Woo another shower! It's nice to see he hasn't turned out to be a total bust. Finally an exciting White Sox game. Missed yesterday's game.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 11:51 PM) Yes, but the product is so bad they should do something very nice for these fans. Maybe free parking the rest of the year or like I suggested LOTS of free food and drink. Especially season ticket holders. They've totally switched this team's roster and again, the pitchers gracing our mound are disgustingly bad, two or three who arguably should be in the independent league. I'm glad I only paid $10 for MLB this year.
  5. So there;s a guy on the Sox called Bummer. How fitting.
  6. QUOTE (harkness @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 07:41 AM) even though statistically sac bunting isn't productive there are still times I think it should be used. 9th inning two runners on... a non run producing or low avg hitter up - sac bunt is good. Now there is tremendous pressure on the pitcher as decent contact loses the game. Also the historical success of the hitters vs the pitcher following the sac bunts. Sac bunts should be extremely rare... there is no valid reason to practice them so much. Bunting for hits with speedy players is a whole different thing - They should learn how to bunt. Those are the most dangerous guys in the above situation. That puts a lot of pressure on a pitcher. For any kid it's not a glamorous part of baseball.
  7. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 11:23 AM) Very, very, VERY true. You've got to be able to teach especially the fundamentals. So far it seems evident that this organization isn't capable of that.
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 03:33 PM) But it got the Cubs millions of followers as they came home from school and watched the games on WGN nationwide. Loved it. I was a Cub fan around 69-72. If you live out west you can watch a game at 10 AM. Nothing really on TV at that time.
  9. I don't think anyone does that in baseball anymore.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 11:37 PM) I wonder if you and I are the only 2 who want to win games? Cheers, El Rockin. You and I can suffer alone. I'm with you. I don't think I've watched an inning this season. It's the mental midget pitching that ruins it. I'm tempted to get the Milb subscription.
  11. It's strange that I can accept Q pitching for the Cubs more than Sale pitching for anyone not named the White Sox.
  12. QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 05:12 PM) So....you want them to lose...with dignity or something? This is EXACTLY what this is supposed to look like. 2014, 2015, 2016...when they were actually trying to win but couldn't muster a .500 record, was much more embarrassing to me. At least where you can stomach watching them. I don't think I've watched an inning yet this year. Tempted to get MiLB.
  13. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 04:02 PM) The farm development staff is so new you have no leg to stand on with this argument. Great!
  14. We need more NL players with high hopes they can hit AL pitching. When are we going to stop riding that train?
  15. I'll go with no. I'm suspect of the coaching and development in the farm system. To my knowledge this is still the stagnant part of the organization.
  16. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 01:55 PM) Jose Quintana isn't Chris Sale. Shocking, I know. He should do fine in the NL.
  17. I was surprised that it took this long for a thread to pop up. Like most forums anyone that has a name and a pulse is always considered. We could always use another NL guy that can't handle AL pitching.
  18. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 12:33 PM) We were well aware of his framing skill. He was so bad at everything else that it wasn't worth it. It's like a WR with 4.3 speed than can't run a route or catch a football. You just have to ignore everything but the film and say bad.
  19. What makes anyone think he would improve in the Sox system? Based on history and him not being a pitcher I'd say no. Great move to send him down tho'. Of course that would be a great trade.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 02:27 PM) I probably need professional help. Whenever I see the post desiring a loss I just want people to re-examine their thought process on the matter. It also angers me probably more than it should anger any human, considering all the more important issues in the world to get upset about. I can see your point. The only thing that hasn't changed much is the people running the farm system.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 02:14 PM) I can't believe people aren't in favor of him going down to the minors to learn more about the art of hitting. I'm surprised the statniks are accepting his OBP and not burying him. It's like it's just assumed TA is a star and whatever will be will be. Something tells me this doesn't exist in the minors.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 12:50 AM) Interesting. I know Frazier has been kind of Adam Dunn like with his lousy hitting and Ks, but I respect your right to want to sign him. Robertson definitely is a B-plus closer. There's a pattern here with NL guys the Sox recruit can't adjust to AL pitching. It's a pattern they should stop. I'd keep Frazier because of the position he plays. So these patterns involving Sox scouting may answer your other front office question.
  23. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 09:08 PM) Holding onto Frazier was definitely the right call. He's really heating up and still has another seven weeks or so build up his trade value. Still think the Red Sox make the most sense. Why would they want a guy who has yet to adjust to AL pitching. This would be a salary dump. Holding on.....more like forced to.
