  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 08:41 PM) Who cares what other people do. If the Cubs win, oh well. It was kind of funny that they hadnt won, but it would have been hard to imagine it never happening. My dad was a Cubs fan when he was a kid, he became a Sox fan because he used to get Sox tickets and I was one. I was watching the game with him for a while tonight and he left while the Cubs were up. I asked him why he wasnt at all excited about the Cubs winning because when he was a kid he was a big Cubs fan. He replied he was a Sox fan now. I was able to see a Sox win a World Series. The Cubs losing was just kind of a hilarious thing. I was a Cub fan as a kid because they played day baseball and WGN was the TV station for kids because they had Ray Rayner and Bozo, and Creature Feature. My favorite Cub player was Joe Pepitone because we were both left handed. Then one year the Cubs played a basketball charity game across the street fro my house. I got autographs from Santo, Monday, the R brothers and Billy Williams signed my glove. Back then you thought it was cool to have autographs instead of thinking they might have some value later on. Funny how the mindset has changed.
  2. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 08:33 PM) This Cubs team is scary good. They remind me a lot of the 2010 and 13 Blackhawks. An elite core surrounded by ridiculous depth. There are gonna be multiple championships on the North Side of Chicago over the next few years unfortunately. In MLB it's been a long time for any team to win back to back WS. Weren't the Marlins last to do that?
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 08:27 PM) Thanks guys for keeping me sane during all this. Us Sox fans need to stick together if the cubs win tonight. This really isn't rational. I know some Cardinal fans that would be far more aggravated.
  4. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) 13th overall pick. I hate that this team hasn't been able to evaluate talent. Somehow trading Sale or Q is gonna change that.
  5. There is some deception in thinking the Cubs traded impact players. They didn't trade anyone near the caliber of a Sale or Q.
  6. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 10:31 PM) They were playing to win. 3B sucked in 2015 and we traded fringe players for an all-star who hits 30+ bombs and plays pretty good defense. Were you against the trade from the beginning? Tons of people loved this trade and thought it improved our team quite a bit since we needed power. Plus the 1st time facing AL pitching. Sox had no luck filling 3B.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 07:10 PM) Yeah winning titles really made the Blackhawks less popular.....not It's harder to do in MLB. There hasn't been back to back WS victories in baseball for quite some time.
  8. I'm still looking for evidence this organization has the ability to rebuild. You can only draft so many pitchers. So they drafted a catcher in the 1st round where they may move to another position?
  9. I was hoping my NFL team would provide some relief but it feels like a lateral transition with poor coaching, under achieving, bad GM moves. It depends on what happens in the off season I just may walk away from the bandwagon and only return if they are winning.
  10. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 09:15 PM) If a new park is ever built it will be by new ownership and just as the Mayor and city fought to build the new park at a location they chose in the late 80's (Mayor Washington said the ONLY location the city would support and that he would tell his people on the Stadium Authority Board to vote for was across the street from the original park) you can expect the city to place location demands once again. Mark Owners usually don't build stadiums. They fleece governments for that which are then put on the tax payers.
  11. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 06:49 PM) Plus it's pretty hard to trust Hahn/KW to do anything right in regards to player acquisitions. That's why I don't get some of the fans' giddiness to trade Sale or Q. The problems are in scouting and development.
  12. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 10, 2016 -> 01:03 AM) Unless of course the Sox "go for it" again and at this point I'd be very surprised if they didn't. JR is not willing to wait five years during a rebuild and last I looked he still owns the team. Mark Plus how do you replace Q and Sale? Shields is a weak link. Somehow the Sox scouting would have to be far more accurate when it comes to giving up quality cost controlled pitching. Giving that up seems foolish. The Cubs blueprint is wishful thinking.
  13. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Oct 8, 2016 -> 10:33 PM) Samardzija SUCKS!!!! $90 million for THAT!!! How in the hell did that guy land Addison Russell for the Cubs? Unbelieveable. I never understood why anyone thought he was somewhere close to being an ace. It's frightening to think he was close to having a longer contract with the Sox. I doubt anyone will ever offer a trade like that again. That would be something that I could see KW would do.
  14. He did wonders with the pen. He's overrated for sure. He also has the blame the fans mentality. In the Sox organization you can speak against the fan base and still keep your job.
  15. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Oct 7, 2016 -> 07:05 PM) The difference being that Cooper is actually pretty good at his job Maybe a decade ago.
  16. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 11:29 PM) Maybe the vets are tuning him out who think they know everything already (Frazier, LaRoche, Navarro, Lawrie, etc.) Saladino, Melky, Eaton, Anderson, Navarez, Abreu have all been mostly positive. Veterans develop habits and those are probably hard to change when the season is started.
  17. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 07:58 PM) I don't. I'd be really surprised if it happened. All the talk, everything I'm hearing from a number of sources is that JR wants to go for it again in 2017. That means unless someone is willing to meet the Sox price of five big league or big league ready guys, they aren't moving him or Q or anybody else of note. But we'll see...things change. Mark Those are two nice contracts that allow for them to spend money on hitting. History suggests they stop trying to fill holes with veteran NL talent.
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 08:32 PM) Funny how much better Sox play with no pressure. They are also playing a team that couldn't beat some AA teams.
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 08:43 PM) Get some runs for Q Ventura interpreted it as Get some runs against Q. Done.
  20. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 06:07 PM) From the Sun-Times web site: "While most speculation about Ventura’s status leaned toward the Sox going in a different direction, the front office believes the Sox’ record is more a reflection of roster deficiencies than Ventura’s managerial skills." Sure every manager always brings in a relief pitcher before the opponents pinch hitter is officially announced! But seriously, if the front office doesn't think Ventura is at fault then who exactly is? (Hint: They probably don't think it's them...all they do is the evaluations, the trades and sign the free agents right? LOL) Mark Weren't we always told the solution was for fans to show up at the ball park?
  21. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) WRONG. That honor would probably go to Buddy Bell who had a .418 winning percentage with 3 different teams. Maybe that is why he has a lofty position with the White Sox. That winning percentage seems to transfer with him running the farm systems. f*** THIS ORGANIZATION.
  22. Who they have for a manager may affect my "still watching" for next season. The loyal fan is me is dead. Bandwagon 4 ever.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 10:08 PM) 6.35 ERA and on the roster the whole season. When is last time this happened? I think Hahn owes Danks an apology.
  24. If Albers somehow f***s this up I hope Chris Sale beats the s*** out of him.
  25. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 08:17 PM) I am confused. It is not uncommon for our top guys Sale, Quintana and Rodon to have a shaky inning. It's not a reason to panic . If he or the others are going to lead us into the post season next year than they have to pitch even more innings than where they are right now The whole meaningless label is something only created by fans. How many athletes want to sit out because games are "meaningless"? So who that also translates to teams like the Cubs where HFA is locked. It's another symptom of the Strasburg syndrome. It can't die soon enough.
