  1. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 08:20 PM) Meh. I want to get rid of s***ty players so that our team can win. I don't like that we accept mediocrities like Tyler. I get that we have other holes to fill, but that doesn't mean we should approve of junk. And we definitely shouldn't let him start every day. I'd rather get rid of the people responsible for the s***ty players. That wont happen anytime soon. I'm sure we could score more of them by trading away Sale or Q. People think we have quality scouting, development and luck like the Cubs.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 08:18 PM) Has this year taught you anything about the importance of depth? Keep both, let Saladino be a utility player and try to have the best roster possible. He wouldn't be a true Sox fan without having a knee jerk reaction.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 08:11 PM) He's not garbage. That's unfair. He'll probably get a key hit before this game is over. No Sox player is going to get a key hit. They might not even get a hit.
  4. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 08:09 PM) Tyler has a .672 career OPS. If it wasn't for his last 17 games, he'd be right above that mark this year too. The dude is f***ing garbage, but hey, let's start him over Brett Lawrie next year. It's cool- we're getting used to the cellar. That's a bit of an overreaction. He's a utility guy.
  5. Sox have 7 blown saves against the Royals. Sale made sure that wont happen.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 07:59 PM) No way should Dozier be given a hit for that. Not a good throw, but wouldn't it be nice to see Abreu help out an infielder for once? Needs to DH next year Sale is the new Q.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 08:01 PM) There is nothing more entertaining than when people show up to troll people based on a bad play or streak. and a certain mod who never fails to point this out
  8. Still have a nice 4 man rotation. The real problem is the pen.
  9. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 05:18 PM) I don't really want us to finish the season on a positive note. Winning 60-70% of our remaining games will only make management think that Robin can get the job done next year. Let's lose, lose, lose, and get a new skipper. Well they are playing in non pressure baseball. Ventura would be the worst thing for this team in 2017.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 08:27 PM) Has Robin saved his job? I hope not.
  11. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Sep 12, 2016 -> 10:00 PM) Avi always seems to do his best when it matters the least. Oh well, enjoyable game. Like most of the team. They are playing decent baseball.
  12. I blame this loss on Ventura only because it's convenient. He can't manage this team past a 3 game winning streak.
  13. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 10, 2016 -> 07:40 PM) 2B was never the issue. Saladino and Lawrie are pretty much interchangeable. Neither will get us major league ready talent to fill other holes if traded unless packaged with someone like Fulmer + It would be a kneejerk reaction. If someone got injured in the IF, I would trust Saladino playing all of the positions. It also makes it possible for Abreau to DH more. Saladino could be more valuable as a utility guy. Anyone gets hurt on this team it get filled with JB Shucks.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 10, 2016 -> 07:49 PM) Why is Ventura managing all of a sudden like it's the 7th game in the World Series? Should never have put Beck with two balls in the count on that pitchout when he's got more walks than K's...and just starting to pitch with a little bit more confidence. Where is Purke? We could use a second lefty, just to keep from burning out Jennings for next year. At his level that is impossible.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 09:47 PM) Still won with three errors, so yay for that. Seven consecutive quality starts for Rodon? Can he sustain it into 2017 this time? 4-9 against KC on the season. Porcello probably clinched the Cy Young tonight. Starters not named James Shields have been pretty solid.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 09:16 PM) Good call, soxforlife. You called it. The Sox scouts and talent evaluators are a joke. I see a real hitter; a real baseball player in Saladino. The Sox brass sees a stiff. Sad. Where did you get that idea? Maybe he spent spent needed time in the minors. People are ready to dump Lawrie but fail to realize in doing that you have made your best utility player a starter and most of the replacements dues to injuries have not been stellar. You end up with "JB Shucks" trying to fill those holes.
  17. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) That might have something to do with the fact the Sox have been out of contention for months. I said earlier in the year he will be Semien 2.0 with how he gets handled. Did it occur to anyone that it is H.S. football season and games are played on Friday evenings?
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 08:52 PM) He's neither good nor bad, he's lukewarm. And he's partially to blame for sure. They need to get rid of him. He's bad.
  19. QUOTE (Scoots @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 08:43 PM) Ventura isn't the best manager but he isn't the worst. I mean, you really can't blame him for the team's performance this year. He's close to it and sure you can.
  20. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 08:12 PM) Pretty much the same as every year the Sox are out of the playoff hunt. Might be fans rooting for losses to get a better draft pick than rooting for a win. I could never do that I enjoy every Sox win. My biggest fear is Ventura being back next season.
  21. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 08:09 PM) And he seems to have twice the arm of the guy across town who gets tons of praise for his D. I can't wait to see how they compare next year. We might have the better shortstop. They have a far better team and guys on better teams always get the credit. It's like most of the All Star voting.
  22. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 02:35 PM) I still can't believe Billy Beane traded Addison Russell for Shark. For a franchise with significant payroll limitations, trading a top 10 prospect in the game for a semi-rental is absolutely mind-boggling. Unlike our front office, the Cubs have effectively taken advantage of their opportunities to sell. Their front office is superior in the scouting department unlike our front office. The Cubs model will not work for the Sox. They got it right on a couple of picks. The players they traded away are nowhere near the quality of a Sale or Q. The Russell trade is a form of luck. The only other organization that could make a boneheaded move like that is the Sox.
  23. This Sox pitcher seems to be under the radar. He's had some good outings. Along with Sale, Q, the Sox have a nice rotation, just leave out that Shields guy.
