  1. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) It's not a waste because there is nothing to save him for. It's the right play at home. I was referring to the Sox if Robertson comes in a tie situation.
  2. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 02:39 PM) At least the bullpen can't lose a lead today....yet. They will lose the game tho'.
  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) That might be my favorite new game ever. So now it's in the pen's hands. Who is your bloke to choke? This may be the toughest pick. I'll pick Jones.
  4. So are they about to waste the closer in a non closing situation?
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 02:35 PM) Why? The Sox have always given their quality starters the leeway to go deep into a game as appropriate. It's not about the Sox but MLB pitcher in general.
  6. Hard to believe Sale leads the with 5 CG. I would have thought a pitcher would have more than 5 not managed by Robin Ventura.
  7. Robin is going to find a way to lose this now that Sale is picking up momentum.
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 02:10 PM) is it Albers time yet? Turner? Love those 2 You can only pick one for the Bloke to Choke.
  9. Only if more players had at bats like Morneau.
  10. Still amazed how Sale changes speeds.
  11. Love the Tigers broadcast. It's all about baseball. You even learn quite a bit about Sox players.
  12. I love day baseball, will have to wait for the Fall League to get more of it.
  13. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 11:08 AM) In case anybody didn't know or forgot, Quintana has the same Cy Young clause in his contract as Sale. If he wins a Cy Young his 2020 option increases from $10.5M to $14M. If he finishes 2nd or 3rd it jumps to $13M. Not that that is a big deal in any way as it's still chump change for his production but just wanted to point it out as a top 3 finish is very possible for him this year. One of the best 1-2 starters and probably the best contracts to go along with it. Instead of the high risk blow it up for prospects from an organization with questionable scouting and development, use money on hitters. I think we are closer to contending than pretending. Sale, Q, Rodon, and Gonzalez, that's a decent rotation. A better manager, pen, with the ability to score 4 runs a game puts you there. Take away some injuries, Robin's managing, and the leads blown by the pen this team would be closer to the wildcard.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 12:44 PM) Again, I am not saying take another chance on Avi. I am saying Puig is a major clubhouse distraction and Avi with good defensive skills on the field right now. I wouldn't want to pay that type $18 million the next 2 years and give up something to get him. For some reason he has become worse each season. Not only that, but if you put him in RF, you move Eaton off of a spot where he may be the best in the business. I understand the upside potential, but it is way more of a longshot than it appears IMO. There must be some deeper information that is not shared in the media that only execs and scout know. There are organizations that could eat the contract with no problem. It could be the media led us to believe the Dodgers were willing to give him away.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) I agree. f*** it, at this point lets just go all in on the clown show. This would be a move from mental midgets to mental projects.
  16. This organization owes John Danks an apology.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 10:03 PM) Hard to blame Ventura Yesterday- Ventura used Jones 3 nights in a row! Shoulda seen it coming! Today - Why is Robin using these scrubs!! Not me. I now blame Ventura for everything along with Cooper. A better manager could find ways around this.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 08:26 PM) Albers is comically bad....Ventura can't be gone soon enough When the pen sucks your manager still has to be alert. Why does Coop still have a job?
  19. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 21, 2016 -> 09:41 PM) I think talent evaluation is as important and sometimes even more important than Draft position. We have had some first round dogs, and I hate to call Fulmer one, but he might become another bust. You go into full tank mode to get a player like that? I think we are spoiled by the likes of Sale and Rodon. Most guys spend time in the minors. Talent evaluation is quite weak and people want to blow it up. Sometimes luck can play a part. The Sox don't have that either.
  20. There is a Havana and a Cuba in Illinois. That's down by Peoria.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) If they hire Dave Martinez or Sandy Alomar, I won't complain. I will. No other team seem to be interested in them. At least Renteria has experience dealing with teams that suck.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) I really hope Robin isn't the manager next year. Anyone else, please. Anyone else that hasn't played on the Sox.
  23. QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) I'm nervous that the pen might blow this game for Rodon, if he doesn't give up any runs. Don't worry the pen will blow this game.
  24. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 02:27 PM) Carlos is one of the few reasons to be excited right now. He's building a pretty good 2nd half. Sale, Q, Rodon, Gonzalez, IMO you build around that and not blow it up. 2 of them are potential CY candidates every year. You will need the luck of the Cubs in dealing them away for prospects. That is a high risk with this organization.
  25. This is like the Colts adding another WR.
