QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) The sox get good again, those will rise. Hell I'll watch a rebuild as long as there's young prospects to watch. But not this s***. Have you been watching since this century? You've been seeing prospects under the KW/Hahn era and the result is s***. An organization that is bad at drafting, scouting, and development will not be any better with "prospects".

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 04:35 PM) JR and Co. care about winning, in the ledger. As long as there's a percentage of the fanbase who believes that: A. Over-the-hill hasbeens will perform like the back of their cards. B. Long term deals will forever doom the franchise, and that financial flexibility is in their (the fans) best interest. C. They've done things in the same manner for years, but this time will be different. The White Sox will continue to be a mediocre at best on-field product. They will be looking for a new TV contract. IF you got rid of Sale, good luck with that one.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 09:29 AM) Those are pretty cool. If I were an Illini fan I'd be all over this. It's definitely got the wrong team on it.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 08:06 PM) I would add another option. For whatever reason, the FO took the trade deadline off. I am sure there will be talk of waiver deals for the rest of the month. But what about the manager. I would assume Robin or the FO will decide to end this after the season. But as I have posted a couple of times over the last few months, why wait?? Renteria would be a name the comes up when/if robin leaves. Why not test drive him now during a period where games will matter, at least to many of the opponents. Obviously, my suggestion would make no sense if the FO has come to the conclusion that Renteria would not be a candidate. Unfortunately I doubt a new manager could pick his own staff. Another Sox retread and I done until ownership changes and that ownership makes changes. We are the Detroit Lions of MLB.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 08:31 PM) I'm hoping the reason they didn't make major moves at the deadline is because JR is seriously considering changes in the front office. Wishful thinking though Yep, Gonna paint the doors a darker color. -

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 08:20 PM) There has to be some changes. Jerry can't be this naive can he? Yes. Some owners start with the manager. -
This is the cursed Chicago team. not the other one.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 12:03 PM) Frazier doesn't make a lot of money. He'd definitely be claimed. A contender or team looking to contend next year can place a claim. I could see a NL team picking him up. This is his first year facing AL pitching. It would be interesting how his stats fare when the Sox play an NL team.

It's tough for announcers to deal with a s***ty and boring team. -

At this point I bet even Albers could own the White Sox if he had to pitch to them. -
QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 01:01 AM) As if it would really matter... How could this team get worse by having another subordinate personality on board? It could. Management isn't very strong.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 05:32 PM) What did the Royals do? Why didn't the Angels trade Trout? Like this post as well. How many bad teams traded their best players who also happen to be some of the best in baseball?

QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) I can't see how this is a PR disaster. Something to keep in mind is that Soxtalk posters are largely the 1% of the fanbase, in regards to org knowledge (roster, minors, FO, etc). To assume Jimbo McLunchbox is upset because the Sox DIDN'T trade his favorite player for 5 guys he's never heard of... is pretty ridiculous. I like this post. The hiring of Robin Ventura was a worst PR disaster. He didn't even fill out an application.

No pride in the pen at all.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 05:13 PM) This. He isn't Andrew Benintendi. That would be who we'd consider a "savior" so-to-speak. What he can do is go get the baseball, make contact and get on base. Can his bat develop? I'm not sure because I haven't seen him nor followed his minor league progress. That doesn't seem to happen in this organization.

Do you really think a basket case would mix in the haven for mental midgets? The Sox don't seem like a place to reform problem players.

QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 06:49 PM) Another August and September of meaningless baseball on the South Side of Chicago. Becoming a reoccurring theme under the Hahn/RV regime unfortunately. I think Sale will get shut down around September 1st. No use putting unnecessary innings on an arm that the Sox are gonna need for the 2017 push! I don't see anyway that this Sox team finishes above 500. Way too many division games in the next two months. Another top ten pick is in the best long term interests of this franchise anyway. I never like this idea. Taking away athletes from competing is wrong. It can backfire. How many organizations have done this? I call it the Strasburg syndrome. Resting NFL starters in the final game of the season doesn't always work out. I think it is the worst idea in professional sports.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 06:47 PM) I look forward to the manager search and seeing what direction this team decides to go in in the offseason. That one is probably predictable. A new manager should be able to pick his own staff. I'm also tired of former Sox players being used. Maybe we can do a Kickstarter to have LaRussa come out of retirement.

False hope. Some further thinking and I tend to agree with these articles. http://www.chicagonow.com/sox-stuff/2016/0...nst-the-rebuild http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/07/22/the...te-sox-rebuild/ Since the century the Sox just seem bad at scouting. Every pitcher with a 5+ era looks like and ace - once again that is scouting. Drafting athletes vs. baseball players. Can't develop position players. At one time Tiger fans hated to see Avi Garcia depart. So the question is was he false goods or another failure because he became a Sox. You have to question that about Beckham. Was he brought up too soon? So to me getting prospects is similar to Congress throwing more at a failed program thinking more resources will fix the problem. I wouldn't doubt the offers for Sale or Q were not worth it because it involved more pitchers than position players. They seem to do better at getting pitchers. The Angels didn't trade Trout. There is a point where these "once in a lifetime" potential HOF type players fall in your lap and you have to sometimes defy the logic of trading them. Frank Thomas played on some bad Sox teams. I thought Bernstein made a good point about TV revenue and that is where the money is made in pro sports. A wrong decision could create a 10 year window. Then you have to win a World Series again. This organization does too many things wrong. JR has gotten burned on FA contracts so I can understand not shelling out for another Albert Bell type player. At one time this organization did a decent minor league system with some untouchable prospect. So if you are not getting the best value on FA contracts spend it in the minors. I wonder how Veeck would have done because he knew he couldn't compete in FA and started putting it in the minors.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) coope4 has some success stories as well.....what does todd s. have on his side Which is why I ask the question concerning Coop. What are his new success stories? -
He just doesn't seem like management material which means a prefect White Sox fit.

Don't worry Coop will fix him. At what point do you determine the effectiveness of a coach based on previous effectiveness? -
I'm seeing the same patterns in Hahn and Kenny. This makes me think JR is in far more control. Most organization would have fired most of their minor league personnel by now. The Twins are going all out on this. Promoting within seems like their last step.

QUOTE (Insp @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) Why is Ventura keeping Rodon in when Rodon has shown that he does not have it today? Growing pains. Sometimes it's easy to forget this is his 2nd season and we want him to be Sale like. -
White Sox trade Zach Duke to the STL Cardinals
kitekrazy replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
My only regret is they didn't throw in Albers. Then again that would make Robin even more clueless in managing the pen.
