  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 06:47 PM) I look forward to the manager search and seeing what direction this team decides to go in in the offseason. That one is probably predictable. A new manager should be able to pick his own staff. I'm also tired of former Sox players being used. Maybe we can do a Kickstarter to have LaRussa come out of retirement.
  2. False hope. Some further thinking and I tend to agree with these articles. http://www.chicagonow.com/sox-stuff/2016/0...nst-the-rebuild http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/07/22/the...te-sox-rebuild/ Since the century the Sox just seem bad at scouting. Every pitcher with a 5+ era looks like and ace - once again that is scouting. Drafting athletes vs. baseball players. Can't develop position players. At one time Tiger fans hated to see Avi Garcia depart. So the question is was he false goods or another failure because he became a Sox. You have to question that about Beckham. Was he brought up too soon? So to me getting prospects is similar to Congress throwing more at a failed program thinking more resources will fix the problem. I wouldn't doubt the offers for Sale or Q were not worth it because it involved more pitchers than position players. They seem to do better at getting pitchers. The Angels didn't trade Trout. There is a point where these "once in a lifetime" potential HOF type players fall in your lap and you have to sometimes defy the logic of trading them. Frank Thomas played on some bad Sox teams. I thought Bernstein made a good point about TV revenue and that is where the money is made in pro sports. A wrong decision could create a 10 year window. Then you have to win a World Series again. This organization does too many things wrong. JR has gotten burned on FA contracts so I can understand not shelling out for another Albert Bell type player. At one time this organization did a decent minor league system with some untouchable prospect. So if you are not getting the best value on FA contracts spend it in the minors. I wonder how Veeck would have done because he knew he couldn't compete in FA and started putting it in the minors.
  3. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) coope4 has some success stories as well.....what does todd s. have on his side Which is why I ask the question concerning Coop. What are his new success stories?
  4. He just doesn't seem like management material which means a prefect White Sox fit.
  5. Don't worry Coop will fix him. At what point do you determine the effectiveness of a coach based on previous effectiveness?

    Hahn

I'm seeing the same patterns in Hahn and Kenny. This makes me think JR is in far more control. Most organization would have fired most of their minor league personnel by now. The Twins are going all out on this. Promoting within seems like their last step.
  7. QUOTE (Insp @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) Why is Ventura keeping Rodon in when Rodon has shown that he does not have it today? Growing pains. Sometimes it's easy to forget this is his 2nd season and we want him to be Sale like.
  8. My only regret is they didn't throw in Albers. Then again that would make Robin even more clueless in managing the pen.
  9. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) Kid went to the same high school as Hahn. I'll be curious now to see how Duke performs with a better organization. Mark Since it's the NL, might be slightly better.
  10. QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 11:45 AM) You save 7 million and get a guy who can play center and hits lefty. While he has little power, if he is a cardinal he will do everything else the "right" way. That will change if he stays on the Sox farm.
  11. QUOTE (infohawk @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:07 AM) What stands out for me is that Tilson appears to have some on-base skills. He has an above average .OBP and can draw some walks. The Sox need more consistent .OBP throughout the line-up for a more consistent offensive attack. Additionally, sounds like he has the potential to play slightly above average defense. Not a bad return for Duke. So coming from a much superior farm system I wonder how long it will take to "uncardinal" him to be the likes of a Avi.
  12. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 10:08 PM) The Sox bullpen is really, really, REALLY bad. Mark Don't worry Coop will fix it.
  13. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) These games are awesome to go to. I don't know if the whether is always nicer (since most games are played at night)...but I usually just go plop my butt down right next to the dugout. Looking forward to it this year now. REALLY looking forward to fall actually....I'm so friggin sick of summer out here right now! Oh so true. Last year I went to one of the summer ones. No one watches those but who in their right mind wants to watch in the evening when it's 108.
  14. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 10:53 PM) Kahnle is yet another example of the lack of depth in this organization. I wish I never have to see him pitch for the Sox again. and people think this organization has the ability to rebuild...........HAHAHAHAHAHA
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 10:54 PM) His defense isn't the problem, it's his lack of hitting this year. The DH spot would be an option if he was 2015 Abreu. That is true. Players have off years. Hopefully this is the case.
  16. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 10:53 PM) This game has all the elements of how this season has gone. Eaton hits a leadoff dinger-provides false hope. Starting pitching is excellent, offense does nothing. No clutch from the pen either. No confidence in Robins management or bull pen in extra innings.
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 10:50 PM) ? He's a 1B/DH, what the hell else is he supposed to do? 1B still involves defense and that's not there.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 10:45 PM) Matters how he finishe and what he could get in arbitration. If he can get 15 million or so, you look to trade him after this season. He's a typical KW guy. He can hit but the rest is s***.
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) Chris Sale is on it. Post of the week! I really needed a laugh.
  20. Potential for another Sox player we will come to hate. You would think former players would pick up on this and say no thanks. BTW I really love the Fall League. The weather is nicer than Spring Training, few attend and it's fun to watch when the season is over. You can sit anywhere you want.
  21. As a resounding gong these problems all stem from poor drafting and development along with no investment in managing.
  22. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 09:41 PM) Can anybody answer why Jacob Turner is on the roster? The last few years the Sox have been dumping deadwood and that's very good...unfortunately then they keep replacing those guys with more deadwood. Seriously to those that closely follow the minor league system...is it still that rancid after Hahn trying to rebuild it the last few years? The BEST they can do are stiffs like Turner, Perke etc. Mark and just think people want to blow it up despite the same people running the minors
  23. The Sox usually show up to play better teams. It's the last place teams they struggle against.
  24. If the pen didn't suck, it's probably not so much sell, sell, sell.
