Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/24/16
kitekrazy replied to TheTruth05's topic in 2016 Season in Review
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 08:03 PM) Raw, a rookie. What do you expect? Makes you wonder after totally crushing that HR if that is messing with his head. -
QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) I can only think of a few Sox catchers to play in the all-star game AJ, Fisk a few times, and Lollar for about a decade. Bears QBs and Sox catchers are about the same. I think it's been that way in baseball for over a decade. At one time the casual baseball fan to name a few catchers. It's not that way anymore. If they can hit they want to move them to another position. If there was another modern day Munson or Fisk I bet most organizations would turn them into OF or 1B.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 04:33 PM) What is the purpose of Avi? He's had almost 250 PA and his wRC+ of 81 is actually WORSE than last year. I'm sick of these bums. Why are we the only f***ing org that cannot find a cheap, halfway productive DH? Scouting, that's why. Scouting and player development. Avi's batting 360 with MOB. -

This was pretty much an all around mental midget performance. Infield was terrible, GU Suck made the first out on bases loaded twice. Shields needs to put in veteran innings. They deserved the loss. Once again they can't seem to have a streak of more than 2-3 games and just prefer to be just below .500. A dog returns to its own vomit. -

I think they should call it a game and give each team a loss for bad baseball. -

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 03:14 PM) Bringing Robertson in right now makes literally no sense whatsoever. You would think by now Ventura would know this doesn't work. -

Love these Red Sox announcers. They state the obvious. "I'd be fine if the Red Sox ever bunt again." -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) It was Jennings warming up for Bradley I thought at the time. I have been saying Albers needs to go for weeks now. Red Sox announcers were ? that as well. -

There's gotta be a guy on the farm that can do better than Shields. Dump Albers and Shileds becomes an overpriced big mistake mop up guy. -

I guess we didn't get the memo. The Sox refuse to be a game above .500. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 07:41 PM) Indians finished home record in June 11-0 must be nice. That's what bother me about this team is after April they are only good for two in a row. It's been that way for some time. -
QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 11:09 AM) Ahh the annual trade Sale article. Boston doesn't need Sale, they have pitching. I'd look at a contender like Texas or Pittsburgh with mediocre pitching. You aren't getting stars back for Sale. Contending teams don't trade stars. Unless you don't agree they should trade Sale, which is fine. But don't realistically expect star return. This was like reading a Phil Rodgers Sox/Cub trades. No journalism bias in this one at all.

Easy to cherry pick the "woulda coulda shoulda". A pattern I see is veteran NL talent seems to be a failure. Eaton didn't spend that long in the NL. The book isn't shut on Frazier. I still think he will be better next season. The only thing that translates between the NL and AL is if you are really bad at baseball.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 11:35 AM) You anti-bunt guys are kind of contradicting yourselves. Plus what is the difference when a ground ball for an out is cheered that moves a runner over to scoring position? You must be waiting for he five run homer or something? LOL People miss their steroid era baseball. Some were good at bunting that it was a way to get on base.

Robin Ventura should definitely, certainly be fired today

QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 08:10 AM) I heard a stat that Francona has had a +.500 record in 11 straight seasons - but hey, don't worry - you don't need experience. Ask Robin. As much as I love AJ - and I think he could be a good manager. Blunt, honest, firery, smart, been a long, long time catcher - I just don't want the Sox to hire him. Give me someone with experience please. Or a fresh mind set. I'm completely done with this team - like done done. Awful Having a former player is not a fresh mindset. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 08:08 AM) The other problem is you have to be able to provide at least replacement level or "somewhat" capable minor leaguers in case of injuries or non-performance. Let's forget the Andersons, Rodons and Fulmers for a moment. One of the single biggest issues with this franchise is just having someone who can step in and not put up a 500ish OPS and a negative WAR. The Jason Coatses/Carlos Sanchezes/Saladinos/Shucks/Sands of the world. Due to our lack of these guys developing in the minors....we end up with Albers/Navarro/Avila/Latos/Rollins/Gonzalez instead. It's no wonder that teams like the Indians with smaller budgets are kicking our butts. They're just more efficient in their spending/scouting/talent evaluation. Same with KC. Another great explanation of the resounding gong "show me where this organization is capable of scouting and developing talent".
