QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 01:39 PM) I've never bought the whole "brought up too soon and ruined a guy". If a little failure "ruined" a player, he probably wasn't any good to begin with. I always wondered if there was a study to validate this. I'm on the fence about this. In the Sox system maybe it is better to be brought up too soon.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 01:37 PM) To me, the best way to improve is to play against the best players out there, that's where I'll always disagree with everyone. He's proven he's mentally tough enough to bounce back if and when he falters so lets get him up here and play against the best competition possible. He's not fully developed of course but to me this is the best possible thing for his development. or go through another team's farm system If anyone can remember when Ventura was called up they told him not to worry about his hitting and you are up here to catch a baseball. Hopefully people wont expect instant results.

Still waiting for Robin and Coop to be DFA'd.

Official 6/9/16 Nationals @ White Sox Gamethread

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 07:47 PM) The draft thread has 750 posts. Yeah, not hard to figure out where everyone is. Don't think even winning or not makes that much a big difference tonight. How many other fan sites can make that claim. It would be nice if the created a thread for every draftee in the Future Sox board. Maybe some of them will be in the summer league. -
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 07:39 PM) Don't take this the wrong way, but this post is all over the place and hard to read. I'm skeptical he's a big league catcher, but unlike in the NL, we can do a lot with a converted catcher. Agreed and title is odd. Seems like a typical Sox draftee. Defense is a major weakness. To me that's a William's pick. Another potential DH.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) Yes, he has difficulty hitting the ball and throwing strikes at his age. We don't know that unless he becomes player manager.

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 01:10 PM) A lot of us are aware of what it is. The problem is, the Cubs are a best case scenario when it comes to rebuilding. They drafted well and were smart with international players. The White Sox have shown consistently that they are completely incapable of drafting positional talent and I would guess their rebuild process would be closer to the Astros' rebuild than to the Cubs' rebuild. The Cubs like to develop position players and go after pitchers in the market. That seems to be a more expensive way of doing it since mediocre pitchers get over paid in free agency. Then again if you got talent on the farm to replace a position player you trade them for pitching.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 01:04 PM) I don't think Scott Ruffcorn ever had even a good inning as a White Sox. If they only had a crystal ball...........
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 01:02 PM) the last half of 2013 and all of 2014, the Sox were rebuilding and there was a ton of complaining around here. Everyone still holds the record during that time against the manager. I don't think many who are calling for a rebuild truly understand what a rebuild entails. I don't think this organization has the right people in scouting/development to do it. They seem to do fine with pitching.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 10:42 AM) You are likely to trade Sale or Quintana and as a result get significantly better next year. If you're counting on Rodon improving dramatically and that leading to a competitive team...having Sale and Quintana in that rotation is kinda important. There is no guarantee of that. As for Rodon people seem to have forgotten the sophomore slump.

QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 06:36 PM) That massive selloff occurred when they were 3.5 games behind at the end of July. If the Sox sell off when they're 8 or 9 games behind, the bitterness won't be there. Realistically, I think that this current squad has until the summer of 2018 to do something. Even if they don't sell off players at that point, the soon-to-be expiring contracts will force the rebuild. My biggest dislike for Lamont at that time is when they faced the Indians one of the starters was a call up from the farm. You put a minor league player is a decent chance to fail and not having your best chance at winning. It was Ruffcorn and he was valued by every organization and the guy never really made it.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 09:31 AM) 3 OD roster spots down, 22 to go, ha. In all honesty, I think silence is better than the public humiliation, but at this point, I'm down to try anything. When I thought JR had actually said that, my thinking was "Why not, it can't get any worse". Silence in this case is drop in attendance.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 09:09 AM) Ideally it makes the relationship between Chris Sale and the White Sox untenable and he demands a trade. You just hope they'd keep it under wraps for the benefit of all parties involved and deal him with little fanfare. That's how a fan thinks. It's really not like that with athletes.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 08:56 AM) http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...-025146341.html Speaking of public humiliation....not a good look for White Sox fans (being called out for booing a pitcher in his very first performance for the team, although some of it must be related to the carryover of knowing what happened against the Mariners in his previous start), for Robin Ventura OR for Rick Hahn. National media starting to really turn on Robin. Probably not. They now acknowledge his existence.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 18, 2016 -> 10:12 PM) I wouldn't mind him stirring it up vs. KC if we get off to a bad start on Friday. If it's 4-0 Royals and that stiff, Gee, is mowing us down, I wouldn't mind Lawrie starting a fight or something. Anything but Royals sweeping us in the Cell. I never understood this fan concocted macho part of baseball. It would look really bad on the Sox part.

Nationals (Scherzer) @ Sox (Shields)

Too bad Adam Dunn isn't around to pitch. -
Might as well get Manny Ramirez back too. Too bad Mantle and Ted Williams are dead.

Well it's probably better to get shelled with Scherzer on the mound instead of losing 1-0. -

Maybe they should have kept Danks. Was he this bad? -
He would fit in with the other mental midgets.

It's difficult to watch the Sox. Even on MLB I don't even watch the video feed. I think I may watch some more NL baseball. Who else do you watch for entertainment?

Something I noticed about the Royal the last few seasons is they have to lead the league in the most brawls.

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 08:29 AM) They would've given Bruce up for nothing before the season. Now he's kind of resurrected his career.... Coming here is a good chance of killing it.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 10:58 PM) Better than 5th place! Don't worry they're working on that one. You may have to wait two weeks.
