Meanwhile Texas looked really bad like White Sox lack of fundamentals bad. -
***Gamethread 4./20 - Angels vs White Sox***
kitekrazy replied to Bigsoxhurt35's topic in 2016 Season in Review
I don't think we would be winning these games a year ago. From the little I've seen of this team they just seem so much better on defense. Eaton is a kick ass RF. -
QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 08:13 AM) I had never watched Frazier hit, until this year. I'm trying to figure out how he ever was able to put up the numbers he did. He doesn't even look "dangerous," as Hawk likes to say. Surely he has altered something in his mechanics and approach. This can't be the guy who hit 25 home runs, the first half of last season. I think it's facing pitchers he hasn't seen before. He's still useful in the field at a position they had trouble filling.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 17, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) Sucks that the pitching has to throw 2 hitters in order to win That's why they are called aces.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 17, 2016 -> 12:22 PM) I can enjoy the winning and be happy about the team while also realizing the Frazier trade was a bad one. How so? I guess if the organization wants instant results they need to avoid NL players. I'm not really surprised by his start. It could be worse if he wasn't good at defense. Yet the organization seems to repeat this without looking at the history. I think it was a great trade since he's not an aging NL veteran.

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Apr 17, 2016 -> 02:05 PM) Yeah.. The offense will be a concern all season long. With this offense, Danks will have double digits losses by the end of June. With the exception of Danks- I really like the rotation and bullpen but this offense will give us ulcers all season long. If they plan on really competing in 2016, they better get a bat sooner rather than later. It isn't any different than most seasons. You cripple yourself by getting guys from the NL that will take some time to adjust to AL pitchers. It's still a better team than last year.

Color me impressed. 1-0 complete game shutout. It's still a win.

Who do you believe is MOST guilty in the Laroche situation?
kitekrazy replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There should have been Yawn - let's get back to baseball. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 07:59 AM) This season is already off to a fantastic start. I think the whole situation is a ploy to make the Sox significant some way in Chicago. All of the focus is usually on the other side of town now that they have gotten much better at baseball.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) It isn't a black or white thing. I think they are both right. The Sox have the right to control the work environment, and LaRoche has the right (and ability) to quit his job and do what he wants to do. More power both of them. I don't get LaRoche choosing that as an issue to quit on, but if he believes it in that much, good for him to stand up for it. You can't quit on a contract without repercussions. Retirement is the option. My theory is he's an older player and now having back problems doesn't bode well for an aging career.

Who are the worst players in White Sox history?
kitekrazy replied to YouCanPutItOnTheBoardYES!'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
Wayne Nordhagen behind the plate or anywhere. Never had a clue when there was men on base, or anything going on in the field. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) My reaction is: fair price for the player returned, totally the wrong type of move for this franchise. Please elaborate.

Sox Acquire All-Star 3B Todd Frazier from Reds in 3 team deal
kitekrazy replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Glad they didn't give up something major. Will this be the third veteran NL player that can't get it done in the AL? This is my worry. At least he can play the field. It didn't cost us Q. Great trade. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:36 PM) He has potential still, but why don't the A's want him? Beane is a genius and he wants no part of him. I wonder if he'll be coachable or if as a No. 1 draft pick he'll be difficult for Robin. I'd feel better about this deal if he didn't have the reputation as a jerk and the fact Mr. Beane wanted to get rid of him so badly. Just curious if anyone knows if the A's have a guy they wanted to bring up in his spot.

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:05 PM) I hated Swisher more than any other player ever to criss paths within the Sox system so I'm glad you brought him up....wait no I'm not.... I hate that duechebag! Why would you bring that guy up man?! I just wish we got to see how well Gonzalez would have fared under the Sox.
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) I need one of you negative miserable posters to tell me how this is a bad move. One! Please! So I can laugh at you and talk about you to my entire family as you personally being a representative for all negative moronic Soc fans that are impossible to please. Maybe history is the best teacher. How many of them benefited the Sox? It's not so much what they gave up but what they got and made a negative impact. Smarj and Swisher come to mind. Still looks great on paper but since it was Oakland does history prevail?

If you had 5 guys hitting decent, Flowers doesn't seem so bad.

Jeff Samardjiza signs with SF Giants, 5/90.

QUOTE (asindc @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 06:57 PM) Not true. Only on planet Pollyanna. Reality = true. -
QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 01:00 AM) Anyone can take a guess as to what might happen and end up looking brilliant in the future if they were correct. It would seem, though, that if it was really true that it was inherently obvious that Jeff Samardzija would have a terrible year, then one is left wondering what is wrong with the people who run this team? Are they so stupid as to miss this obvious mistake? I fully realize that this organization is not the most competent one out there, but I am not a believer that they are so incompetent that they would miss the most obvious things in the baseball world. Making a trade, giving up a few prospects and quasi-big league players, for a guy who is, in the very least, a workhorse pitcher makes complete sense to me. The idea was that we would sign him to a contract extension should things work out. Our rotation would be further bolstered for years by a good Samardzija. There was even seemingly some mutual interest early in his tenure in Chicago. Then things derailed. The fact of the matter is, it didn't work out. People who were nay saying were correct. But it made sense. I'd do the trade again, in a heart beat, to potentially acquire another piece of the rotation puzzle. However, from the comments I have read about how really obvious it was to some that this wouldn't work out, then I must be just as ignorant as our front office. I guess we're all just a bunch of damned fools. Shucks... If I were JR, I'd sign onto this website and private message everyone here who knows better then his team. Get that advice on big time decisions instead of listening to someone who graduated from Harvard and a bunch of people who have been around baseball their entire lives who are paid to make these decisions. Big time decisions can be tough to make, this was one of them, it didn't work out, and at the end of the day to anyone who ended up correct, I still say to them... Good guess. Well it doesn't mean they are good at it either. They seem to have "bad luck" when it comes to veteran NL players.

You don't get a lot of mileage out of Asian players.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) You guys are still talking about Puig as a player worth acquiring a week after a domestic violence incident??? Agreed. Since when does a change of scenery to the White Sox ever work. Oh wait! Coop will fix him.
-
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 04:07 PM) But you can. There's no justifying what you guys are asking for. Yes, I want the Dodgers top 5 prospects as well, 3 of which are MLB ready. But that ain't happening. It's a waste when this organization doesn't do well in developing prospects.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) The way I look at it is maybe he has one good year or two good years. How anyone can conclude looking at his career he will be really good for most of this contract is really reaching IMO. An organization named the White Sox didn't agree with you in the last off season. The Sox like to throw money at veteran NL talent that can't play in the AL. -
I think they overachieved. I don't see this making them better.
