  1. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) I need one of you negative miserable posters to tell me how this is a bad move. One! Please! So I can laugh at you and talk about you to my entire family as you personally being a representative for all negative moronic Soc fans that are impossible to please. Maybe history is the best teacher. How many of them benefited the Sox? It's not so much what they gave up but what they got and made a negative impact. Smarj and Swisher come to mind. Still looks great on paper but since it was Oakland does history prevail?
  2. If you had 5 guys hitting decent, Flowers doesn't seem so bad.
  3. QUOTE (asindc @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 06:57 PM) Not true. Only on planet Pollyanna. Reality = true.
  4. QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 01:00 AM) Anyone can take a guess as to what might happen and end up looking brilliant in the future if they were correct. It would seem, though, that if it was really true that it was inherently obvious that Jeff Samardzija would have a terrible year, then one is left wondering what is wrong with the people who run this team? Are they so stupid as to miss this obvious mistake? I fully realize that this organization is not the most competent one out there, but I am not a believer that they are so incompetent that they would miss the most obvious things in the baseball world. Making a trade, giving up a few prospects and quasi-big league players, for a guy who is, in the very least, a workhorse pitcher makes complete sense to me. The idea was that we would sign him to a contract extension should things work out. Our rotation would be further bolstered for years by a good Samardzija. There was even seemingly some mutual interest early in his tenure in Chicago. Then things derailed. The fact of the matter is, it didn't work out. People who were nay saying were correct. But it made sense. I'd do the trade again, in a heart beat, to potentially acquire another piece of the rotation puzzle. However, from the comments I have read about how really obvious it was to some that this wouldn't work out, then I must be just as ignorant as our front office. I guess we're all just a bunch of damned fools. Shucks... If I were JR, I'd sign onto this website and private message everyone here who knows better then his team. Get that advice on big time decisions instead of listening to someone who graduated from Harvard and a bunch of people who have been around baseball their entire lives who are paid to make these decisions. Big time decisions can be tough to make, this was one of them, it didn't work out, and at the end of the day to anyone who ended up correct, I still say to them... Good guess. Well it doesn't mean they are good at it either. They seem to have "bad luck" when it comes to veteran NL players.
  5. The Sox seem to have a strong 1-3 in pitching. The free agent market is lackluster when you need something other than pitching. Based on this it doesn't bother me if they do very little.
  6. You don't get a lot of mileage out of Asian players.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) You guys are still talking about Puig as a player worth acquiring a week after a domestic violence incident??? Agreed. Since when does a change of scenery to the White Sox ever work. Oh wait! Coop will fix him.
  8. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 04:07 PM) But you can. There's no justifying what you guys are asking for. Yes, I want the Dodgers top 5 prospects as well, 3 of which are MLB ready. But that ain't happening. It's a waste when this organization doesn't do well in developing prospects.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) The way I look at it is maybe he has one good year or two good years. How anyone can conclude looking at his career he will be really good for most of this contract is really reaching IMO. An organization named the White Sox didn't agree with you in the last off season. The Sox like to throw money at veteran NL talent that can't play in the AL.
  10. I think they overachieved. I don't see this making them better.
  11. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 12:54 PM) What team would trade for Manziel? He is trouble off the field and pretty awful on the field. I think the Browns should just admit that they made a typical Browns move in drafting him and just cut him. Browns will most likely do the wrong thing. They need to dump their front office. They seem to miss with high picks.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:40 PM) You are asking for way too much of the White Sox front office They seem to do well when it comes to pitching.
  13. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 05:29 PM) Sad things about deals like this is that it's really hard for me to imagine Sale wanting to stay with the Sox if they aren't winning and aren't paying him market value. You know sure as s*** the Sox won't pay him what he deserves. Pro athletes are more concerned about money in the bank than trophies.
  14. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 24, 2015 -> 06:26 PM) I am almost positive he was just making a joke. Yeah actually, I am positive he was making a joke. I was.
  15. This is one of those lightning in the bottle hopefuls this organization is good for.
  16. So now they can trade Sale for prospects.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 06:00 PM) Really had high expectations after the trade with the A's, but the Shark had no teeth. Just a huge disappointment. But, some of the so called baseball experts were not impressed with him and they turned out to be right. It will be interesting to see just what he gets in that $15.8M range he turned down as a QO amount. Maybe it's time the Sox stop being trading partners with the A's.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 01:37 PM) There's been a lot of discussion on social media the last few days, about Tim Anderson becoming the team's starting shortstop in 2016 on Opening Day. Not as much here, where there are some very knowledgeable posters, but in some cases it's been said. Here's the quick docket of reasons why he's not ready. Feel free to send this to any of your friends who might be suggesting it. Great article! Thanks!
  19. I got back from the game. Amazing how many kids are bad a catching a baseball. I got to see Adam Engel coach 1st base. November baseball>NFL.
  20. All I've seen and don't need a news article is another White Sox "maybe it will work this time" getting experience NL talent that fails. Nothing says "impressive" about him anyway. If anything you would think he would have decent stats in the AL since hitters did not face him enough. They seen him and liked him for batting practice.
  21. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 12:16 AM) Nothing against the Mets but I'm happy the AL is going to win it, clearly the superior league this year. It seems odd that a team would have consecutive world series appearances these days.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 11:44 AM) Yankees fans aren't Cubs fans. They are a fairly loyal and knowledgeable base. I don't think you know what you are talking about. I'd say you don't know what your are talking about.
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 11:19 AM) Is $15 mil a year a "buy-low" scenario? Also, if he's a SS butcher, how does that help? Let's add another career NL player who by the All Star break might be bad enough that can't be traded back to the NL.
  24. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Oct 31, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) Even if he was to leave the Royals, why would he have any desire to come to the Sox? I know money talks, but between the Royals, the Cubs, and the Sox, which team would you be more compelled to sign with from an organization standpoint? Yankees.
  25. At least he faced AL pitching. I think it would have been a step up.
