  1. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Oct 27, 2015 -> 11:00 AM) I always liked Uribe. He always seems to be on the winning side Would be be going for his 3rd WS ring?
  2. I didn't take the opportunity to see two games this week. 6 miles away from the Ranch and I didn't go today. Would anyone else waste an opportunity like that?
  3. I read there is another guy in the farm system (can't remember who) who could be better than Rodon and Fulmer. I guess it's great for this organization to have that potential talent since pitching contracts are getting above ridiculous.
  4. So is there any possibilities from the farm that we may see within 5 years? It's kinda sad when there were guys like Bench, Fisk, Munson and Simmons. They were household names. My how baseball has changed.
  5. So the Sox finally filled the hole in CF after almost a decade and chance that on a guy who couldn't figure out minor league pitching and somehow got it right in the majors. It wouldn't be the first time this organization overreacted.
  6. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 07:25 AM) You are only down by 6 points and try that stupid play. Chuck Pagano is probably fired at the end of the year anyway, but things like that don't help his case. It makes me feel better about Robin Ventura.
  7. I don't think they'll have a great as season next year even if they add a FA or two.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 06:23 PM) In what could be (if Texas comes back) his last moment as a big leaguer, Mark Buehrle was ejected in today's Toronto/Texas game for doing nothing. I wonder if there is a video of that.
  9. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 11:41 PM) In 2003 they had a two game lead over the Twins with I think 15 to go. Lost the last two games at home of the Twins series and were swept away the following week. They had the horses in 2003 and pissed it away. Again the had a three game lead in 2012 with I think 17 to go and completely fell apart and handed the division to Detroit. They had enough to win it to in 2012 and pissed it away. Ditto for blowing golden chances in 2006 by falling apart in the second half and 2010 when they had a lead in August, every relief pitcher seemingly went on the DL and they fell apart. The only consistent thing about the Sox the past 15 years has been poor second halves which has cost them dearly. How would this franchise look today, how would more importantly the perception of the franchise look if they got into the playoffs in 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012? Alas we'll never know because the Sox keep blowing good chances. I'll repeat something I said earlier someplace, 'blind' loyalty towards anything...a religion, a baseball team, a government I don't care what it is, is dangerous in my opinion. Mark Since the new century "mental midgets" come to mind. They either couldn't handle pressure or the other teams were better at baseball. I often think it's the latter but we often have more choke than clutch.
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 10:25 PM) That is your opinion. One good year does not mean jack for next year anything can happen. Just ask the 2006 Sox.
  11. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 09:40 PM) As someone who has been in the business professionally for almost 40 years my only reply is to paraphrase what Walter Cronkite said as the keynote speaker for the National Association of Broadcasters Convention in the mid 70's. He stunned the audience by systematically ripping apart the medium he helped create because he could see what was coming. Basically, 'tell the people what they want to hear instead of telling them what they need to know in an unbiased way..." He must be turning over in his grave at what goes on today. My business today is an embarrassment and that shames me to have to say that. Mark Part of that problem which is why I can't stomach the NFL is that too many former players are allowed to be journalists and analysts. The problem with the Sox though is they really are boring.
  12. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 08:03 PM) All this dick measuring over KW and Hahn. They're in the "paid to get it right" business. Right now, they're not getting it right. Bottom line. This is a big offseason. In most organizations, yes. They are protected by the Reinsdorf loyalty program.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 08:06 AM) What many people are missing is the teams they want the Sox to be like, the Cubs, the Pirates, the Royals, the Astros, were consistently awful for a very, very, very long time. None of them won it all as of late either. Some organizations make a habit of trading a good player for multiple prospects and when one of them shines they start the process over. So when the fans like a player the attitude is how long do they get to enjoy him.
  14. Cubs got some deals that don't happen every day. As for the Cards they are a mystery as to what they do to sustain winning. Someone has mention before the Sox organization is very casual with no pressure. Players like it here. Maybe that's why they fold when there is any pressure. They way the season started you have to blame the manager. This organization is a big joke to professional sports when you hire a manager by asking one with no experience who didn't even apply or interview. The farm system still has the same people running it with no results. I'll settle for new ownership that makes the existing people have to interview for their job.
  15. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) Whoa whoa. The Shark and Laroche flops came outa nowhere. I imagine we'll all be impressed again this offseason. Avi not taking a step forward was a major blow too. Feel bad for Rick that he has more work to do than he should. I feel there is a pattern that this team has little luck getting production out of veteran NL players. Get them while they are young. The last thing they need is to get another pitcher.
  16. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) Great post, but it's too bad this board ridicules people for supporting the Cubs for whatever reason. In reality, we're better off encouraging baseball discussion instead of calling people "f***ing idiots" for being happy for the Cubs. For example: Not only is the post complete garbage (There is enough support from both sides of town to support two successful teams), it's not a good look for the White Sox fanbase and it's not a good look for this board. A number of us love the game and love the White Sox and don't need to justify who we support and what we watch otherwise. I'm here to discuss the White Sox (no matter how abysmal they look) and the rest of baseball with people from similar upbringings and interests. We should not ever question the White Sox fandom of a person because we are not to judge. Great post. A moderator here doesn't seem to understand this.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 06:19 PM) Loyal fans mean money when things aren't good. Wouldn't that be nice now. Media contracts mean money good or bad.
  18. I believe they are over achieving this season.
  19. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) My favorite part of the article was where it said "Of course, the best way to fix a drop in fan support is to reel off a string of playoff appearances". I mean, who woulda thunk it!! Even that has it's downs if you don't win it all like the Braves.
  20. QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 01:20 PM) There is no adjustment. Increased interleague play has taken care of that, plus all the FA and trade movements, same umpires, etc. American league is just the superior hitting league right now. I disagree. Interleague play may be a third of the season. We don't fair well with NL players who've spent most of their career in NL. They need to stop. AL and NL baseball is night and day IMO.
  21. QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Oct 11, 2015 -> 12:30 PM) One of the best posts I've seen this entire season, mirroring the classic ranting style of Kenny Powers. The sox need to fulfill their destiny of selling the most demanded sports ticket in all of Chicago. After that, we'll continue with even more success, driving the cubs franchise to follow in the footsteps of the late Montreal Expos. Not going to happen. The only way is to move where there are no professional sports or to the suburbs. It's not the end of the world.
