  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 01:40 AM) I truly hate to always be a dick and can't wait for the Sox to be good again, but LaRoche is not gonna hit 17 home runs. That ship has sailed. I predict he'll hit .213 with 7 home runs and 32 RBI. Ugh. It may be possible. I think a veteran NL player needs time to adjust to AL pitching.
  2. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 12:07 AM) White Sox baseball is my hobby, man. Sorry if you got a problem with that. Post of the Week!!!!!!!!
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 03:18 PM) Don't know about his defense at third... and his hitting isn't even good anymore. 1 year of LaRoche > 3 years of Hanley Sounds like a perfect White Sox.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 10:56 PM) I'm going to come out and say it, but if you claim to be a true Sox fan and are cheering for the Cubs this postseason then you are a f***ing idiot. Our beloved franchise has always been the ugly step-child of the Chicago sports scene and a Cubs World Series victory would make us even more irreverent. Go ahead and come up with some lame excuse on why it's ok to cheer for them, but you are literally rooting against the well-being of your own franchise. There is no good that comes to the Sox from the Cubs winning the World Series, none whatsoever. It's absolutely disgusting how many "Sox fans" I know are jumping on this bandwagon and it's even worse how many members on this site, a forum that is home to some of the most die-hard Sox fans in the world, are pro-Cubs right now. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay over the top. I can see Sox fans more envious of the Cubs this season. Who predicted them at 97 games? Watching a Cubs game vs. a Sox game is night an day. I see quit and choke watching the Sox. No matter how their post season turns out the fans have something to look forward to next year. The news we have is Ventura will be returning. It makes you feel like the bastard step child who gets hand me down shoes. I doubt we would see this if they were still owned by the Tribune Co. I for one think this Cub team has peaked and will not have the same success next year. That's the reality of baseball. It's just as much jealousy as it is hate for the Cubs. They are young and winning. We have one of their former products that made us get worse. The Sox will be the bastard step child in this city unless they move or get new ownership.
  5. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 02:02 PM) Hopefully they lose in the most painful possible way. That was already achieved with the Bartman incident. That shows you how uncivil we are when it comes to professional sports. If I was Bartman, I'm a Cardinals fan.
  6. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 07:53 AM) I disagree. Q needs to fill more than 1 hole if you trade him. Otherwise you are only opening a hole to fill one. You don't trade a potential #1 starter or even a high #2 for one impact bat. I would trade him for 2 ML ready players and a high prospect. or the Sox like to get NL players who can't adjust to the NL whose name isn't Adam Eaton.
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 10:35 AM) Would be a big fan of him as manager. I love former catchers as managers. Essentially the captain on the field as they are involved in everything. Plus he played for the Sox so he meets Jerry's criteria haha This could be the reason why other teams are not interested in him. Everything is comfy in Sox land. No accountability in the organization. That's why players like it here.
  8. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 08:03 AM) That would be a great hire imo. He has been interviewed for quite a bit of managerial jobs as well, correct? If so, teams at least see something in him. Yeah, not to hire him. Another Sox retread = yawn.
  9. Certain teams have gotten deals that don't happen to everyone. I don't see any valid points of this OP thread. No one has a crystal ball when it comes to trading players at their highest value. At some point how long do you trade anyone who is good in hopes that getting younger and good shows up? Prospects are the highest risk to trade for in this organization.
  10. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 04:03 PM) I remember reading over the summer where Shark to the Yankees at some point (or the Dodgers or Cardinals) was a possibility. Wouldn't surprise me in the least. Nor would it surprise me if he rebounded to have a good year as soon as he got out of town. Has happened going all the way back to David Wells. That's the "White Sox way." Mark Worst scenario = trade Q, over pay Smarj. They only way he can perform better is go back to the NL. I'd rather have the Sox bring up one of the kids to pitch. IF the team is going to suck I'd rather it be due to youth than veterans.
  11. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 03:22 PM) I didn't say trade him for 3 pitchers who are worse. I said he'd be replaced with 3 pitchers who are worse. With 2 holes already needing to be filled in the rotation in the next 2 years and enough question marks with the unprovenness of E. Johnson, Fulmer, Montas, Beck, or some scrap heaper, it doesn't make a ton of sense and doesn't seem reasonably likely that the Sox should/will open up another huge hole in the rotation. In short, they aren't trading Quintana. I'd bet Han probably gets offers for Quintana at least once a week.
  12. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 08:38 PM) I really hope the Sox are planning on going over budget next year or this is going to start getting really embarrassing. Well they do go over budget IMO when spending on veteran NL talent.
  13. Let them gloat all they want. It must really suck to have a bunch of young players now in the post season. At least we can say we have Ventura as our manager next year. They have something to look forward to next year, we don't.
  14. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 06:01 PM) As a SOX fan, the answer is a resounding YES I want them to be miserable the rest of their lives. So they can join us.
  15. QUOTE (shysocks @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) Berman put on a dreadful performance that whole series. He was overrated to begin with. After that series on ESPN I rarely watched that station again. It's a terrible network.
  16. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) Oh so you mean like the $73 million the Angels ate to get rid of Josh Hamilton? Is that a big enough deal? Depends on the team. We know one team where it's a little different.
  17. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 05:07 PM) Batting Average is overrated anyway, if he gets a bunch of extra-base hits and manages a decent walk rate I don't care if he hits .230. Hmmm......from a Sox perspective I don't agree with this.
  18. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 09:35 AM) Reinsdorf's legacy was solidified in 1996. Resolidified in 2005. His legacy won't change at all. You can go back further with Sportsvision or whatever it was called.
  19. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 09:09 PM) Three things: a.) JR has another 1000 posts coming his way, rightly criticizing his management and decision making, until the results start to change and our ball club starts making it to the playoffs more often. You may be content with the frequency with which the team goes to the postseason, but me and the majority of the diehards are not, and understandably so. b.) Where is all of this "go be a Cubs fan" and I said I was ready "to give up being a White Sox fan" nonsense coming from? I never did nor ever would say such a thing. You're so busy whining about who you deem to be whiners that you are not getting your facts straight. I don't know what to tell you, but you got me mixed up with some other object of your ire. Go find one post where I even suggested anything remotely of the kind, and then we'll talk, but until then, cease and desist with the inaccuracy. And that brings me to c.) As a wise man once said: Those who whine about whiners are, in fact, whiners themselves, as it turns out. Consider the source. You can't be "kum ba ya" enough for dick. As for c, what?
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 10:05 PM) Astros winning big. Angels won. Twins lost. Twins on life support. Angels a game back if Astros don't blow it. Amazing how the Twins have surged. Weren't they in the basement for awhile? It makes me hate the Sox even more.
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 10:47 PM) Not targeted at you raBBit, but the Sox have gone after big fish in the past but simply couldn't land them. Tanaka is the most recent example, but there are few others like Hunter & Fukudome. Also, I'm almost positive the Sox were willing to go 10/$190M on A-Rod before he signed with the Rangers. Point is while the Sox haven't signed a lot of crazy contracts in the past, it doesn't mean they haven't been willing to. And with their TV deal expiring in a few years, they should be very motivated to build up interest in the team beforehand and that could very well mean being major players in free agency the next few off-seasons. So glad Fukudome signed with the Cubs for less money. They do need someone to compliment Abreu. Career NL power hitters are not going to cut it.
  22. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 06:09 PM) Manager barely matters unless it is someone as insane and toxic as Ozzie. Ned Yost was the biggest dumb piece of s*** manager in baseball, until their young players finally started playing well. Now he's a genius. And if you want to argue "hey, I never said Ned Yost is a genius," then look at the Royals record and see how much the manager matters if you have a lineup full of valuable players. The amount of anger and vitriol heaped on Robin is at about a 10 when it should be more like a 1.5. That should be directed at KW. When Ozzie left there really wasn't a formal hiring process. No interviews, just persuading an former player with no experience to manage a team.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 05:35 PM) Thome for Manager 2017 S.O.S. Same old s***.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 02:03 PM) Lots of people say this. Never ends up being true. I think Robin should go. But he won't. Fans will show up less often probably too, but no one is just turning it off entirely because they kept the manager. The organization tries the reverse thinking former player A in a coaching spot will bring fans. If they keep this up it might achieve the result above.
  25. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) Still can't believe you are anything but a troll. Far from it. He's one of the most civil people on this forum despite the abuse he gets.
