QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 04:37 AM) yeah right... name a org that org??? again, what ever we, the fans opinions are, the sox FO will do what they want. however, you do not put your valuable asset in a position to get injured. no one can predict the unlucky events of injuries. as example i am going to use Troy - ss injury. buy you try to limit the others with playing the odds. either way, i like to see your opinion on my question i am done on this subject. Trying to plan against injury doesn't make sense and does not always work. Sale missed the beginning of the season because he was moving. Should they put him in bubble wrap in October and break him out in February. It's foolish thinking. They try this in the NFL. Your logic can't be any more flawed. Winning organizations in all professional sports do not walk on glass.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 08:44 AM) I completely disagree with you. It's so hard to find a good leadoff hitter and average to above average defensive CF. This year not so great defensively, but last year he was pretty damn good. According to Baseball Reference, in his 2 years with the Sox, he has a combined 9.3 WAR. 5.6 last year and 3.7 this year. He's 26, and with so few offensive building blocks, you don't trade that away..... Hard to believe they filled two holes with one player. How far they have come from Brian Anderson and Jaun Pierre. Trading players because they are decent for a hit and miss prospect or two to an organization that has far more failures than successes with position players exceed the realm of baseball stupidity. Sox fans forget this is not an organization like the Cardinals.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 26, 2015 -> 08:32 AM) Dude, prospects flop all the time. You trade Eaton for two of them you'll be lucky to even get one that turns out as good as him in the long-run. Sure, there's a small chance you end up with a better player or both prospects work out, but the odds are incredibly low. If you're going to take that gamble, you might as well trade the rest of your assets (Sale, Quintana, & Abreu) and straight-up rebuild, because you're pushing your timeline back another year or two. As disappointing as this season has been, we still have a playoff caliber pitching staff in place. Putting together a legit offense will be challenge, but one that's not necessarily impossible if they're willing to commit some resources to fixing it (cash & minor league pitching). Again, if ownership & the front office aren't willing to do that, then blow this f***ing thing up, as you definitely don't want to get stuck in the middle. Especially in this organization. They hit the mark on pitching but that's it. At some point you can't keep trading those who are decent or good hoping for younger decent and good. There's plenty of organizations do that and have just as many years without a postseason.

Some disturbing Sox numbers…yet the status quo remains

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 06:03 PM) Some teams are strong at developing pitching, while others developing hitting. Sox and Cubs are basically total opposites, with both teams having to pay a ton of money to try and upgrade the area they're weak at developing. I tend to think people underestimate just how good the 3-headed lefty monster of Sale/Q/Rodon could be. Only those who think of trading them. Smarj IMO does not have any impressive stats yet he would be expensive for the production you would get out of him. The Cubs didn't feel that way either. -

kitekrazy replied to Eminor3rd's topic in 2015 Season in Review
Why are people shocked they are not seeing the invincible Sale like in June? He's not going to do that every outing. He's getting Q type run support. -
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 01:30 PM) So Montas has one bad inning and now you want to give up on him as a starter? It's been clear that he's a big project and an unfinished product for a while now. Still too early to make that call. This board can be so reactionary at times. Maybe this is a knee jerk reaction because the kids can't rise above the veterans that suck.
-
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 09:17 PM) I will be upset if Sale is moved, but I'd understand why they'd trade him if it helped better the franchise as a whole. It's all spectulation at this point though. I personally don't think he'll be traded until at least 2017 at the earliest. Maybe later than that. I would be just as upset if Q is traded.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 09:14 PM) Yep, and I believe Hahn will listen on Sale and make a team offer a package that's simply too good to refuse. That's probably been done many times.

White Sox at Tigers 9/22 game thread 6:08 first pitch

QUOTE (jamesdiego @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 08:57 PM) Well, Japanese people are so polite and nice. Maybe Iguchi just didn't want to make Brian feel so bad because Gooch had such a bigger schlong than him. He probably already pitted Brian enough with his batting average. I hope the Sox aren't as bad next year. Game day threads are starting to get strange. -
If the Sox arent in the top 10, how do you improve this offseason?
kitekrazy replied to Dunt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 04:44 PM) Have no idea what they'll be able to do. Free agent list isn't impressive in the areas they need. They'll probably have less money to work with given season tickets holders, many, won't be back. Still far to many black holes in the lineup. Starting pitching may be an issue as well if they trade Q. Yet they'll try to sell the fans on the notion of "contending" next year. Maybe the best thing they can do, maybe the only thing is to bring in an experienced manager who has won in the past and let him bring in his own coaching staff. Maybe they can get more out of what the Sox already have. That and removing Kenny completely from interfering. Mark Trading Q and signing Smarj = 4 steps back. I don't trust this organization with prospects unless they are ready to play. I still don't trust them with that. Maybe fans would have someone else to hate other than Javi. I'd rather build around Sale, Q, Rodon. Danks will be coming off the books eventually. -
When all of your teams suck

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 09:58 PM) I know the Colts are sucking right now but you have a top-5 QB and you'll rebound. I don't think people who have him on their fantasy team wold agree. They have a bottom 5 coaching staff and a bad GM. -
How do you handle it? Sox - what more can you say? Colts - remind too much of the White Sox NBA - don't watch it NCAA - family is either Louisville or KY fans. I have an occasional interest in the Final Four but it's win it all or bust. NHL - Blackhawks. The season will be interesting. I can't watch them since I'm in AZ. I love baseball over them all. I guess my excitement could come from the Fall league or watching kids play.

How many of last off-seasons "big" moves would the Sox make
kitekrazy replied to maxjusttyped's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 04:20 PM) None of them. But it's funny how everyone now wants to stay away from NL players because of two busts. Add Jake Peavy, Smarj to the list. It's a trend. Younger players it's different. Watch both leagues and you may come to the conclusion it's apples and oranges. Or you could believe like the Sox organization and throw money and youth away on veteran NL players that fail on this team. You don't need a stat book to discover that reality. -
Samardjiza believes he was tipping pitches
kitekrazy replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There's nothing in his previous stats that say "great pitcher". I can't except the hype. -
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 20, 2015 -> 05:37 PM) You're talking about the same Sox management who failed to trade Samardzija. It's probably the same organization that found out nobody wanted him.

QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 20, 2015 -> 08:10 AM) last season, the team and sale had a real scare, especially but over pitching in a game. this season or should i say in spring training, as you said, he got hurt. bottom line why increase the odds of in injury. if a person, with all the necessary chances of getting injured, someone does, then that is the way it is. but at the same time don't help it by having key players play for what???? Your logic can't be any more flawed. Winning organizations in all professional sports do not walk on glass.

QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 19, 2015 -> 03:46 PM) only if the sox shut down sale, Q, Jose A and maybe eaton. an arm injury to a pitcher or a blown knee to a any of the other i mention, kiss 2016 away. Trying to plan against injury doesn't make sense and does not always work. Sale missed the beginning of the season because he was moving. Should they put him in bubble wrap in October and break him out in February. It's foolish thinking. They try this in the NFL.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 19, 2015 -> 11:35 PM) I think he's earned a spot on the big league club next year. Get rid of Melky and put Dayan back in left. Though that doesn't help our defense any. ... If we could dump LaRoche, make him DH and bat him ahead of Abreu. He put up good numbers before in the minors. There use to be a slogan - free Viciedo. Maybe he can only hit minor league pitching. Maybe they should have offered Beckham a minor league contract and work on his hitting. In the farm system a quality hitting coach probably doesn't exist.

kitekrazy replied to maxjusttyped's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They have bad luck with NL players. Best solution - stop. The DH is also a money pit. -
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 19, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) He's so bad that you don't even know his name! It's the Harry Carey syndrome.

Rodon is getting more impressive for a rookie. I think it's time for him to complete a game.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 19, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) Wow idiot base runner. Lucky that double wasn't an out.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 19, 2015 -> 09:26 PM) Robertson is god awful. He seems to get rattled to easy for a closer.

LOL, Sanchez. So White Sox baseball.

The thing I like about Rodon is he likes to work fast. Now that he is out it feels like nap time.
